  1. a friend of mine did one up in a flat black and OD green bake on finish (didnt put the stock in the oven though, just let it dry for a couple days) and that looked pretty sweet.
  2. traced the problem to one of the magazines. if anyone gets one they should come with two. i see a lot of them on the gunbroker that only have one. century ships them with two, but they probably sort through them so each rifle gets one mag that is good and one that is not so good
  3. sorry to post and not check back for a week. I didnt really think it would be practical. i just thought it would be fun to shoot one once. I heard that way back in the day ingram made a .410 street sweeper and offered a .45-70 barrel for it. and i thought that since siaga shotguns are better than street sweepers, why not? I'll see what the shotgun guys think thanks for all the input.
  4. just a random thought, i think a Saiga in .45-70 would just be the balls. Unfortunately i am no good at mechanical things. has anyone else thought of this? would it be better to use one of the shotguns as a platform with the adjustable gas system?
  5. I picked one of these up today. not as nice as a ptr91 or a vector but not bad. there were some sharp seams in the navy style lower but a sharp knife took care of them. the sights and the cocking tube were welded on fairly well. i did have a hell of a time getting the stock off so i took the dremel to it before i put it back on. it was getting dark when i got done looking it over so i just tried to put ten rounds through both of the mags that came with it. i kept getting this weird malfunction with the empty case sticks in the breech backwards. anybody else have one of these, or hav
  6. i think the gas plug is pretty cool. quick question though, i have one of the later guns that have deeper threads, so the first setting i come to after running it down all the way is 2. do i still have all the settings or just 2 and 3. its been cold here so i havent done much testing, but setting 3 seems to work like a champ
  7. Although i am but a lowly gunshop commando (retail sales associate), i think i have a pretty good idea of how things work when it comes to exciting new products. Anyone remember when Marlin Introduced the Guide gun in .45-70? It was about a year before they were actually available, and all they really had to do was shorten the barrel and add some ports. Even when large companies that have existed for a hundred years introduce a new product, it takes a considerable amount of time for it to actually materialize. So for one guy to just decide "I think this would be cool" and make it happen,
  8. i think i would want one even if i wasn't buying a drum. it looks like there is also a notch to cut the gas all the way off? That would be handy at the trap club so you aren't throwing hulls at the guy on your right! Huzzah for Mike Davidson!
