  1. Here a picture of my 308 I finally finished in September. Also a couple 100 yard targets. I was shooting several different boxes of ammo that day so I was just aiming at the orange dots I added to the targets. My only problem is the first shot is always a couple inches high and slightly left. I'm guessing me racking a shell in does not seat it the same as when the rifle is fired. These were the two types of ammo my Saiga liked best. These were shot with (left) Federal Premium 168 gr Matchking BTHP & (right) Remington Green/Yellow 168 gr. BTHP. I'm pretty happy except for the f
  2. It's part of the Arsenal package of the SGL 41. If you take the brake off it has the threads for the screw on chokes. I don't think it works like an AK 74 brake should. The muzzle is too close to the end where the blast should hit the brake. I think the only way it reduces recoil is by adding a little weight to the end of the barrel.
  3. Really nice wood an color. Which ironwood set is that? Did you do the stain yourself? How easy/hard was it to get the top handguard in place? I think the stock set was the Ironwood set that's for the Romanian, Egyptian etc. I bought it used for $50.00 at the OFASTS Full Auto Shoot this past summer. It was stained just a regular walnut color. I steel wooled most of the color out and stained it with Angelus leather dye in cordovan red color. That dye works really well on wood. Then I used a couple coats of satin wipe on poly finish followed by several coats of paste wax. The SGL comes
  4. Here's my SGL 41. The extras: Ironwood furniture, Hogue grip, XS Big Dot Express Sights, and 10 round mag.
  5. Just did a search on GunJoker. There's a complete wood stock set. Really nice looking wood. Auction ends the 19th.
  6. Here's the only wood forearm that I've been able to find that is close to the original Saiga forearm. here's the link. http://www.weaponeer.net/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=47&idproduct=331 Don't know anything about the company. Maybe others here on the forum have done business with them before.

Is that lower hand guard retainer polymer or metal? Did you fab that as well?
  8. I've been in the process of converting my Saiga. I made my own bullet guide, installed the Tapco trigger group, added new USA butt stock & pistol grip, new gas tube and some other mods which I could call hillbilly engineering (I can say that, since I live in the Ozarks). But I ran into a slight problem and need some advice before I proceed any further. I started my Tapco gas piston conversion. Drilled the dimples, removed the original piston and was able to screw the new one in with no problem. Here's the issue, the threads on the Tapco barely go 2 threads past the rear edge of the hol
