  1. Plus, as Mike said in his opening statement, he is going the extra mile to make the people who purchased one in the last 30 days feel a little better about their purchase (which was a good deal anyway). He doesn't have to do that but it's well appreciated. Let me check my receipt...Oh, order date: 12/28/09. Just under 30 days:) Thanks, Mike for making a great product and being a great business man. Jim
  2. Thought this was appropriate for the Saiga forum. peace.bmp
  3. I finally got a chance to test my new MD-20 drum I got for Christmas. First I took it apart to see how everything works (mechanical engineer thing I guess). I adjusted the spring from the factory 3 revolutions to 2 since I will normally be shooting the low brass value pack ammo. I loaded it with Federal 7-1/2 shot Walmart value pack. Shot 3 slow rounds from the shoulder, then 5 rapid fire shots from the shoulder, then unloaded the remaining 12 shots as fast as I could pull the trigger from the hip. Perfect! My new favorite mag.
  4. Does anyohe have an extra tapco trigger they could loan for a few days. I don't need the entire fire controll group, but just the trigger. I am working on a project to make a trigger cover and need to make a mold. standard or modified G2, doesn't matter on the trigger. Looks like the Tapco AK-47 single hook is the same, correct? If so, that would work also. Just trying to avoid removing my trigger again.
  5. Yea, I just ordered a MD20 drum from Greg. Placed the order on Monday and it was at my door on Tuesday. Got to love that.
  6. I had two Surefire 12 round mags and could never get either one to empty without a FTF or FTE. All other mags, Pro-mag, AGP, Saiga did fairl well. But my gun was marginal on gas. I cut one Surefire down to 8 and no better. Returned both for new 12's and same issue. But after I opened up one gas port, they run fine now. Maybe it's possible that if a gun is undergassed, the Surefires are more prone to a problem.
  7. Just checking to see if anyone is having after Christmas specials. Need to find a place to spend those Christmas gift cards.
  8. One other thing I noticed. Before doing this, I noticed the power burn making on the puck was always on the lower half with more near the bottom and narrowing towards the center. This would indidate the gasses were pushing more at the bottom of the puck which would seem to make the puck want to tilt and cause more friction. Looking at the design of the Gunfixr Plug, gasses going in the opposite direction, as they are from my front port now, would be directed up and back towards the center of the puck. This would seem to be more efficient in moving the puck without a force vector that would
  9. Are you near Williamsport, PA or Erie? I can get you in touch with someone in those areas.
  10. That's correct, I drilled just the most forward hole at the opposite angle from the other three and one size larger. 20' on the .410 may be over exagerated but not by much. The 12 ga is probably 10 - 12 feet on the No. 3 setting of the gunfixr plug. It will eject about 6-10 feet on No. 2 and still eject a couple feet on setting No. 1. The good thing is I now have a good range of adjustability. Yes the forward angle does allow more trash to enter the gas tube along with more gas, but not so much as to cause a problem or need cleaning in the amount I shoot during a single outing. The amoun
  11. For a year I have had occasional FTE on low brass shells. With one particular brand of Magazine, I had continuous FTE issues. I changed trigger spring, recoil springs, polished, etc. to no avail. I finally decided to get aggressive. I removed the gas plug and drilled the first gas port one size up. I did this from outside the gas tube, without disassembly of the gun. Problem solved. Zero FTE issues now even with the mags that always gave me problems. That was easy. It does get more debris in the plug area so more frequent cleaning will be required but that is expected if more gas i
  12. I forgot my password and had to get a new one. How do to change my password to select one I can remember?
  13. Interesting. I thought the spread would have been much more on the 8" barrel. Another thing to cosider and maybe you can do some testing in this area, is penetration from an 8" barrel vs 19" or 24". From what I understand, the slow burning powder in a shot gun shell needs a longer barrel lenght for the shot ot reach maximum speed. I assumed on an 8" barrel the shot has not reach max speed and there's a lot of powder that is burned after leaving the barrel. Therefore, there should be less penetration from the 8" barrel. Thougts?
  14. Which tappet is that? I don't see it on the MD website.
  15. And would half way between 3 and -1 be completly shut off with no gas? I"m wondering if this setting might be OK with 3" high brass and the reduced recoil spring. And I assume any contact to the rear trunion on recoil is a bad thing, even the slightest amount, correct?
  16. When a couple magazine just won't do it. Cool video work.
  17. OK, it was a little early for April Fools jokes but I couldn't resist. No such beast at thist time.
  18. Here's a sneak peek at the 10 gauge muzzle brake for the Saiga - 10. Pictured next to it is a 12 ga. slug and a 10 ga. slug.
  19. Installed mine tonight. Real easy just like you said by using a zip tie to hold the spring legs on top of the hammer. A 2 minute job and works nice and smooth. I also installed the lighter recoil spring. Can't wait to run some light loads through it now. Thanks, Greg.
  20. Since much of the energy on the ejection cycle is used to cock the hammer, would the reduce strenght main spring improve ejection on low brass? see link. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/se...inspring/Detail
  21. Looking inside the front of the gas tube, you can see a penetration from the top. Is the front sight screwed in? Can it be removed to access the gas ports?
  22. ARG, let me go to the trash can in the garage....I think my Saiga-12 barrel end is still in there somewhere. OK, I found it. PM me where to mail it. There, that proves my theory: Never throw anything away. As soon as you do, you will need it. Who would have thought someone would want this?
  23. Simple conversion with vented forestock, shortened barrel with weld-on 74 break (18.1" overall).
