  1. SOLD For sale: IZ-109 (19" threaded barrel, bolt hold open, regular sights). This was restored to pistol grip configuration with the usual modified Tapco G2 trigger group, Tromix trigger guard, and Tapco SAW grip. The longer factory stock looks a little odd but it gives a nice long length of pull for us taller guys. The Phoenix muzzle attachment and ProMag 10 rounder are included, along with all the factory goodies, manual, and box. The ProMag was fitted to the gun but never fired so I won't guarantee it's functionality. This gun was mostly a safe queen and is not completely broken in yet.
  2. The receivers and 30rd mags are still available. I guess I'm not the only one that's all stocked up! I will consider reasonable offers and discounts on multiple items.

  4. I bet! I'd pay money to see the fatcat club shooters fill their pants when you uncase that thing. Anyone ever fail to realize what it was and tell you that you can't use a rifle?
  5. Thanks for the support guys. I think the sort of culture Frick describes naturally grows in any technical/information-oriented internet forum, especially hunting/shooting ones. I was disappointed to see it rear up in this forum, but I hope this sort of thing is still the exception rather than the rule around here. Either way, this forum is an invaluable resource and I'm thankful for it. If my participation in it becomes more annoyance than it's worth to me then I will do something else with my time. No worries here. Back to our regularly scheduled topic - I'm glad someone else found this a
  6. My order got voided too. Man it sucks trying to buy stuff in this spastic market!!
  7. Exactly what I needed. Thanks for the heads-up!!
  8. Ripper1 was a pleasure to deal with. My parts were exactly as advertised and received promptly. All correspondence was also very prompt. He's a good guy doing good business.
  9. Since I'm not a regular reader of the .410 forum, I searched this forum for AT-14 info before posting. I found nothing, so I thought I was contributing. Apparently I should have searched for more general AR references. If you thought I was referring to the Saiga community overlooking the AT-14, that was not my intent. I meant that this AR company has overlooked our beloved AK-based .410 in making their claim, and I thought they deserved some teasing for the claim. Pardon me if I was unclear or if I wasted bandwidth on a well-kicked horse.
  10. Tonight I found this advertisement for "...the first smooth bore, 410 cal., semi Automatic shotgun ever based on an assault rifle." http://www.americantactical.us/images/SAFIRSILAH.jpg It looks like someone hasn't been paying attention! How long has the Saiga .410 been on the market now? Maybe it only qualifies as an "assault rifle" if it's AR-related. Will the vanity ever end? I thought you might get as much of a laugh out this as I did.
  11. There are few things more annoying than ignorant people who are convinced of their superiority. Deluded indeed.
  12. Dustin, I have a 20" 7.62x39 new in box with all the goodies along with a Surefire 30rnd mag for $350 face-to-face. I am in your area. Let me know if you are still looking.
  13. Everything on her when you adopted her was my elbow grease. You definitely took her to the next level though. Well done!
  14. Bravo Dinzag, very well done. It's good to see her treated well.
  15. 1) What dremel tool did u use? Standard hobby-type dremel using the saw-style bit to drill in and remove material horizontally. 2.) Got any pics of ur vent jobs? http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?act=At...ost&id=7988 3.) Does/Can it weaken it enough to break? In theory, sure. Any hole weakens it slightly. In practice, you would have to beat it pretty hard to do any harm. The handguard material is quite tough. Don't get excessively close to an edge with your vents and you shouldn't have a problem. If you drill it out like the one pictured then I doubt you would ever break it. S
  16. A couple of guys have taken a liking to the venting jobs I've done on synthetic handguards, so I thought I'd share my method for anyone looking to tackle it. First, I can't take credit for the pattern. It is copied from the actual Russian slotted handguard. I have never seen one in person, but the pic from the Russian Saiga page was all I needed. Take that image, blow it up to full size, then trace a template with masking tape. Flip the image a make a mirror image template for the other side. Line up the tape template on your handguard, make sure it's straight, then dremel out the slots. Di
  17. LOL! Doug, that handguard should look alot like the one on your .223 since I'm the one that slotted them both! That's hilarious that you ended up with both of them. That handguard actually came from a x39 long ago when I used it to convert a .308 from wood to synthetic. I copied the slots from the actual Russian slotted handguard I saw on the old Russian Saiga website. Since I've heard a few positive remarks on it, I'll post my method in a new post for all to plunder.
  18. Payment has been received, both rifles are sold. Thank you all for your interest. Extra thanks to Dinzag and Doug for smooth and professional transactions. Both have been fine gentlemen to deal with. Enjoy your rifles!
  19. Thanks for the nod Indy, and thank you Doug and Dinzag for the prompt sales. Both rifles are sold pending payment.
  20. I am condensing my firearm collection. My 22" .308 and my 16" .223 are both for sale: 22" EAA .308 converted to pistol grip, Red Star Arms Trigger, Bolt Hold Open installed, K-Var Buttstock, Tapco SAW grip, neatly ventilated handguard, LESS THAN 100 ROUNDS FIRED! $400 takes it. 16" EAA .223 Rescued conversion from previous owner. Finished conversion to pistol grip, trigger group now pulled and is not included as I was not able to verify they were US parts, old pivot holes were slightly ground by previous owner, plastic buttons cover 99%. No Bolt Hold Open. Tapco T6 collapsible bu
  21. Also be aware that some of us with RSA's in our .308's have had to shim our triggers from the sides. The trigger hole in the bottom of my receiver was larger than normal AK, and the RSA trigger floated side to side in it..enough to cause serious binding dangers when the action cycles. The exact shimming needed was found by another member previously on the forum. A little search should turn it up. Excellent trigger once you get past that though. Recently at the range, one of the regulars stepped away from his custom target Rem. 700's and gave my Saiga .308 w/RSA (set up 2-stage, ~3lb pull, very
  22. That is the best thing you could have done to this thread Strawman! Just to throw my own GAS on the fire, sounded like a sales pitch to me to. Duck and cover!
  23. Sniper, make sure the tab at the back rear of the gas tube is fully seated into the notch in the trunion (the block of metal the barrel and gas tube join with at the receiver). The spring on the back of the gas tube can interfere and prevent it from dropping in. Look where the latch rotates into place to lock down the gas tube. If the latch cam is not just barely on top of the end of the gas tube then the gas tube isn't sitting properly. Don't force the latch lever into place. Once the gas tube is properly installed the lever will operate fairly smoothly. It may help to trial fit the gas tube
