  1. While test fitting my 15-rounders I encountered a hint of this. My bolt would open with an empty mag inserted but there was a noticable hang-up when the bolt had finished turning (corresponding to about an inch of opening). If I did it REALLY SLOWLY it even hung up a time or two. But if I moved the bolt with any speed at all it just flew right over the bump. I doubt that this will manifest when firing, I think my bolt cycles faster when things go bang...
  2. Cobra, Man - you'd think you've done this before? I just did some light filing and sanding on the bottom of the rear locking tab. Went slow and kept test fitting. All 3 of my 15-rounders now snap in fairly easily! I left 'em a little tight since they'll naturally "wear in" some on their own. Hand cycled shells through all 3 mags without hiccup. THANKS!!!
  3. Thanks for the background and tips. I appreciate the advice and will heed it. For the record, the rear locking tab does not yet lock in at all.
  4. Alright, so I have calipers and I'm bored... Also, I'm tired of trying to slap the Hades out of my 15-rounders to get them to fit. My 10-rounders always just glide in without issue. Obviously, SOMETHING needs sanded/filed/shaved. But what, where and how much? Here's what I found: Dimension_____________________10-Rounder_____________15-Rounder Front locking tab thickness____________0.418"____________________0.441" Rear locking tab thickness_____________0.173"____________________0.189" Width at feedlips____________________0.920"____________________0.966" Width at mag nose__
  5. So, I finally have my Saiga .410 into HD configuration (collapsible stock, tromix shark brake, chaos piston, 15-round mags) including a rail mounted onto the sideplate (the kind that arches over the top for optics). My question: What red dot should I be looking at for home-defense (HD) work at inside the house distances? A few candidates: Option # 1 Pentax Option # 2 BSA combo w/ light & laser Option # 3 Barska Option # 4 ATN Option # 5 Yukon Reflex Option # 6 EO-Tech 512 Or should I just put a weapon-light on that rail and figure that if the beam is on target the bucksh

I have a new batch getting ready to goto chrome, they are 0.824 so you wouldn't have to polish any off for tighter bores. If you can hold out a couple more weeks I'll send you another, free of charge! I'm an old chrome plater myself... If you have .824 OD now and are shooting for .826 that is only .001" per side - that's not much as far as chrome is concerned. Especially since this is stainless and as such they are likely to want to give it a quick nickel flash first (AKA Wood's nickel strike). One thou of chrome will hold up just fine, but it can be hard for the plater to hit it rel
  7. Ordered it this morning, MAA shipped it this afternoon. According to the website there are seven (7) left in stock. Better get 'em while they last.
  8. Either shotty would work. I own both. Too bad you missed the Saiga .410 - that was a pretty good price! I got the pump-action Mossy 500 as my first gun. It has served me well in both the field and for home defense (HD). 12-ga is just so dang versatile. That said, 000-buckshot doesn't know which shotgun it is coming out of. With the 12-ga you get about double the pellets, but the terminal effects of each individual pellet will be indistinguishable .410 vs. 12-ga. At HD distances, what 30 feet at most, the pattern will be so small that pellet count isn't really a big deal. Five
  9. I would like to convert my Saiga .410 to a pistol grip configuration. If at all possible I want to avoid the whole "move the FCG forward" issue. Would these parts work for that: Tapco G2 Single Hook Trigger Group SG - Tapco G2 Tapco T6 Stock System SG - Tapco T6 Also, any ideas for a cool (but short) muzzle break would be appreciated (yeah, Tromix looks sweet).
