  1. I'm on the left, sorry, this Texas boy doesn't do PA January weather well
  2. I'm sensing RPK74 clone in my near future!
  3. I'd say sandbag it. Drilling is a perm mod, and IMO you will want to keep the bipod as close to the receiver as possible so as not to affect POI. I blew out my shoulder teaching my son a football lesson a few months ago, so I feel your pain, literally, I sand bag it at my range, and use sling tension when not table shooting.
  4. pg plate not needed unless you do a side folder conversion, even then, probably not a "must have" but correct for that type of conversion. My Saiga functions w/o a bullet guide, but the rifle was designed to utilize one. All necessary holes are already there after you remove plate as already stated. Look forward to seeing pics of your build!
  5. LBE with HSGI Tacos. Works for every rifle I own in 1 rig. The tacos are very versitile IMO. used it with good results in my last class can do more detailed pics if need wanted. ETA: I'm on the left.
  6. here's my most recent. Took some time to figure out the weldsing part, still didn't turn out that great, weld wise.
  7. like title says, want a non converted 223 Saiga, can be used. THX!!
  8. Been a lurker here for some time, and active at other sites. I've converted several Saigas in the past, but just recently got some new tools. I finally bought a drill press, really makes those holes easier to drill, and a wire welder (cheap HF thing). Here are my questions: 1) What kind of welders are you guys using to fill in the holes? Any special techniques? My skills lack (pics to follow) 2) After welding, what type of media blasting is the best to use? Here's some I had help with, and did myself: and this is the 1st that I tried to welf. Needless to say it didn't
  9. I'm about to tackle this myself also. I had a smith do a 74 for me. Now I want to do my own. The biggest concern I'm having is making sure I align the trunnion right.
  10. if still available, I will take it. Please email me at nictra@aol.com for shipping instructions. THX!!
  11. take it slow and easy, and you will prevail! The 1st one always puts your pucker factor up above 10, but in the end you'll look back and say, that wasn't sooo bad http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?app=forums&module=post&section=post&do=reply_post&f=5&t=49814#
  12. Here's 2 of mine I did. The 1st one I had a local smith do the machining for the side folder, but I installed everything else. Was a 20", and I had him cut and crown it also. this one is just a basic conversion. It now sports a 74 style rear stock.
  13. ALL SOLD Have for sale one hard to find Russian S12 pistol grip. Took me over a year to find this, and it's been sitting in my gun safe ever since. I did mount it a couple times on my krink, but it's pretty much new. Comes with screw. $95 shipped Mounted: Next is another hard to find item. A Russian PBS rear site.
