  1. I cut mine with a hacksaw and trued the end with a file (before I bought the mini lathe, but its a 12ga I mean come on target crown). What's up?
  2. If you have both the 8 and the 10, you'll understand what the big deal is about. The 8 is so damn sexy compared to it US counterpart...
  3. Saiga 410 Shotgun Converted to standard AKM configuration with 5 US compliant parts. This gun is brand new and never fired. Five (5) factory mags included! $699 plus $25 shipping Will trade for NIB Saiga 12 with extra mags or extra cash
  4. Got mine tonight. Big thanks to Mike. My order was placed 08/07 and he came through despite all the normal new product BS. The only thing is it seems like a front pistol grip would help as you have to kind of angle your arm around the drum to hold the front hand guard.
  5. on a low side mount its still pretty high. But I shoot right handed left eyed so its perfect for me.
  6. The receiver holes are the same on x39, 556, x51, 410, 20, 12 saigas
  7. The x39 barrel is thinner than the 223 HB so yes it should work.
  8. OK, I think I see your point! With that thought in mind I am off to start my own thread to find out which is the best brand of chain saw to use for home brain surgery! Perhaps while you are at it, you can tell all these guys to go put their chainsaws away: http://www.dragunov.net/psl_action.html Seriously you guys know how to turn a simple question (what's the best long range saiga) into 10 pages of BS and off topic conversation.
  9. You will have to replace the rear trunion and possibly close up one rivet hole. VS
  10. Good score those go for $100 every where else. Please post a link.
  11. 1. Remove old rear trunion by drilling out rivets 2. Cut receiver rear to proper angles (all three sides are different, plus the latch D hole) 3. Rivet in new trunion 4. Mount stock I've done one, seriously took me 4-5 hours and I'm not that impressed with my D hole cut. Its not for the faint of heart.
  12. Cheaper ammo. ...for a limited time only. Yes but it takes a while to burn 10,000 rounds up. Don't think I'll do it in my lifetime. Also would make a sweet donor for a russian 74 build if some come in dimpled.
  13. yeah the screw doesn't tight it. you could either mod what you have like i mentioned above or buy a higher grade component. Tapco isn't bad, it just not as nice as more expensive parts The thing is. . . . . . . a milspec no-name buttstock assembly + AK to AR adapter isn't that much more (if not less, depending on where you buy your stuff) than the Crapco T6. This is the one from CAA. It's got the right trunion cut built in for AK and the extension tube is aluminum. It feels like you are holding something meant to be on a rifle http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa91/dy...o

    Who's your daddy?

Its the CAA (Israel) handguards and CAA aluminum tubed buttstock.
  15. Given the military use of the PSL, I fail to see the dismay at the op's request. A Saiga 308 is not going to be any less accurate than a PSL. Sure it won't preform as good as the 700, you can still land inside a man sized target at that range. I believe he asked what's the best saiga for 500 yards. Not what is the best long rifle for 500 yards.

    Who's your daddy?

    No bolt mods. New furniture

    Saiga vs AK

Don't troll. No discussion of FA on these boards.
  18. The long axis pins I just hit with a regular drill bit. Takes about 2 minutes to remove both of them. The trigger guard rivets, I swear by this thing. 5 minutes max: http://ak-builder.com/ak/modules.php?name=...page&pid=59

    Saiga vs AK

    They're the same gun.
  20. I'd press the brarrel out on the punched one and save it for when you find a dimpled rifle and install it on that. I finally got 2 dimpled ones, 6 rifles total, no punched ones, no hand guard cuts.
  21. You mean from Russia? The underfolder hasn't been issued in years. They switched to the sidefolders with the 74. Or from US convertors? It requires removing the rear trunion and drilling the pivot holes. The stock also costs $100 or so used so it is not high on the cheap to ergonomic ratio. That being said it can be done. There's a couple threads in the shotgun forums where folks have installed them.
  22. The fit is tight I think I shaved them down a little:
  23. I've got an ugly yugo rpk on the way to do that to.
