  1. +1. It wasn't as bad as you thought.
  2. Tap (the mag) Rack (the slide / action to strip out the bad round and feed another) Bang (pull the trigger, if it goes bang you are GTG) How did I do? I just ordered 2 AGPs from the main E-store here. Can't wait to get them and try em out. Only exp. I have is with the factory 5s and a Surefire 12rnd I moded to 8rnd. So far they are great. Yeah, you pretty much nailed it. Haha The Marine Corps is not nearly as complicated as they like to think. I voted for the 12rs surefire so that I can cut it down to 8rds. I do believe that a steel lip on a mag is more o
  3. That's got to be one of the silliest comments I've ever heard, and actually makes me wonder about your whole write up. thanks for taking the time and expressing your opinions .... As for a caked puck, every saiga that I've followed close enough will go MANY more rounds, caked pucks and all. Granted, most of these are EAA guns ... Nothing personal, and all IMO. eta: There are worse shells out there than winchester AA's (AA is their premium brand, and #9's would be built for the finicky skeet shooters). Winchester universal loads are the typical 100-round-bulk-pack-wal-mart spec
  4. Yeah, I don't bother wasting money on 3" Magnums, I'd rather bulk buy the 2-3/4" Winchester military grade 00, and have money left over for practice ammo. That is some good info on the Surefire 12s, noted, thnx. That being the case, I will testify that the 12rd surefire mags are extremely relable with all 2 3/4 in shells. I ouned 10x 12rd mags before cutting them down to 8rds and not had a single malfunction with a 2 3/4in shell reguardless of brand.
  5. Great AAR. A TTP that I use with the GUNFIXER plug is that I start it out at -1 and then work it to the +1, +2, +3 as needed to prevent over gassing. You may have been good at setting -1 initially. I noticed that you didn't fire any 3in magnum loads. I have experianced failures with the 12rd surefire mags with 3in loads. None have broke on me, the shells would not feed quick enough for the bolt. I thought is was due to spring tension, but surefire told me that it was due to mag diminsions set up for a type of brand, Federal I think. I fixed the problem by cutting all my 12rd surefire mag
  6. This is a great TTP for fixing these mags, but if you could only have one mag would you chose promags and would you trust your life to the realibility of these mags that required this much work to make them functional?
  7. I'd still take the 8rd surefire over the 8rd russian mags because the surefire has no steel lip to dig into the base of the shells. The shell come out much smoother out of a sure fire mag. I also have never heard of a 8rd surefire mag breaking, until I do I will prefer the 8rd sure fire over the russian ones.
  8. Once you find a replacement or a solution, please post it for the rest of us. This issue is bound to come up again.
  9. I did no work at all in trying to fix the promags beside the cork and hot water. I am sure that they could be fixed and they do look cool. Being that I have so many of them, I am going to test their warrenty and see if promag will fix, exchange, or give me a refund. If I only had a few, I would fix it myself. The only fixing the 12rd surefires needed was to be cut down to 8rds. Now they will cycle anything 100% of the time.
  10. I have had it with the promags myself. The 8rd surefires have worked flawlessly for me.
  11. I recommend the 8rd sure fire mag. See my live fire AAR thread.
  12. I fired a total of 147rds out of my saiga today. This was the first time I have fired live since I installed the: Gunfixer Plug, KA Puck, 25% reduced power recoil spring and a Kobra Red Dot Collimeter. I tried out a CAA adjustable cheek piece I bought from CSS and also test some promags. First: I fired a total of 63x 2 3/4in winchester super X 1oz slugs at 50yds to sight in my Kobra using 3 shot groups at a time. I had the GUNFIXER plug set on -1, no issues. The promags failed miserably. They kept getting caught up at the top. When they did not get caught up, they fed the shells too lo
  13. The lifetime warrenty is at their disgression, but if they will exchange them for gen 2, I will. If they give me a refund, I will buy 8rd surefire mags because I know for a fact that they will cycle anything.
  14. How did it break? Did it break during livefire? I was shooting some federal bird shot and all the sudden the gun went click instead of bang. I noticed no primer dent in the shell and so I stripped her down and sure enough the firing pin is missing the top 1/4 or so! Damnedest thing have ever had happen with a Saiga! Hope I can find a replacement soon! Maybe someone can fabricate one for you. It is a very simple part. I would email Tromix, Kings Armory, Dinzag arms, Chaos, ect. These guys seem to have all kinds of machines and meterial. I bet one of them could make one for you
  15. How did it break? Did it break during livefire?
  16. Not aware of any yet. Check Saigastock.com for factory replacements. They will not be on the website, but she may have some there if you call. Greg If that doesn't work also try: http://www.saiga.gr/D07B97BF.en.aspx
  17. 100% correct. I will only trust my life with a 8rd surefire mag.
  18. I went to the range today. Range report to follow. I am considering selling or trading my promags so that I can get something that works like a 8rd Surefire. The shells kept getting stuck at the top and some would feed to low causing the shell to ram the front of the mag instead of going into the chamber. I eventually gave up on trying to make them work and just used my 8rd surefire mags. I had no issues. I fired a total of 146 shots including 2 3/4in feather weight and 3in mag slug and OOO buck. I can not speak for AGP mags, I don't own any, but I would trust my live to a 8rd surefire instead
  19. Could you send the link to ajax?
  20. LOL I just happened to call Cameron about something when he was typing his reply above. It was an interesting discussion, to say the least. As for the leapers rail, well, its not really made for combat, more made for sporting use. It is extruded as well. The rep at Leapers SAID as much at SHOT this winter. It is an affordable alternative out there, but you get what you pay for. Cameron's rail, well, its a weapon all by itself, really, as anyone that owns one can attest to. I am friends with Mr. Cam, yeh, but it doesnt change the fact that his product is one of the best of its kind in
  21. See this link http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=18530
  22. Excellent. Also don't forget about the 25% reduced hammer spring from Gregg. All three used together maximizes the ammo you can use.
  23. I want to hear more about the impulse-momentum theorem and less about shooting cats with abortes fetuses.
  24. Believe it or not, there are actually record firing tables that exsist of this purpose. You might be able to google it.
  25. The weight of your gun also offsets some of the opposite and equal reaction "recoil." The slug or bullet is also excellerating down the barrel until it run out of barrel. This exelleration also offsets this opposite and equal reaction. So the energy of a slug once it has exellerated to full velocity will have more energy than what it exhibited during recoil. Other wise you would have over 1000 pounds of recoil. This would be the case if excelleration was instantanious and barrel lenght was not needed. What you're describing is known as the impulse-momentum theorem, which I should have
