  1. Anyone know if a red dot mounted on that forearm will hold zero? I like the idea of not adding a lot of weight.
  2. That is one sweet rifle. I have pieced together a rifle using a Spikes upper and could not be happier. They are an excellent company and seem to stand behind their products. I'm by no means an expert on AR's especially the piston guns, but I think that is an incredible rifle and it has the Glock "melanite" coating to boot. Look at AR-15.com, under industry. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=282 Keep us posted.
  3. Greg, I am in disbelief how quickly you processed and shipped my order. I've had to use money orders in the past. The credit card statements seem to stir up the Old Lady.... And my experience with the MO is an additional week to process, but not with you. Thanks, Don P.S Hopefully some 5.45's will arrive in the fall
  4. Nice gun. Let us know how the optic works out. I want an Eotech, but can't seem to get the funds together. I have too many projects at one time!
  5. My best shot was with my Daisy Power master 880. I played sick (11 years old) and was home alone with my new rifle. I had never shot it and decided I would open my window and give it a try. I took aim on a poor squirrel and my first shot (7 pumps) 40 yards and dropped the poor bastard. I had a lot of fun and trouble with that rifle.
  6. Take a look at the primary arms microdot. I have one, so far so good. I was told it can take the S-12 recoil. For the price not too bad.
  7. I love my 19. I carried it for years when I lived in a free state. I was never a Glock fan until I needed to replace a stolen 92FS. I tried a few handguns at the range and reluctantly tried the Glocks. After shooting the Glock, I became a fan.
  8. Is the 16" barrel really that much louder than the 22"? How about compared to S-12? I can't tell the difference. Come to think of it I do get some people at the range asking me what the hell is that AK guy shooting? I usually use plugs and muff, so It doesn't seem too loud to me. I like warming up with my 10/22 at the range and letting my neighbors get relaxed, then I pull out the 308 and let her eat.
  9. Are you talking about the new 2-stage Saiga trigger that Dinzag offers? Thanks in advance for the info. Old SF No, the trigger is the standard Dinzag 308 trigger. I'll have to take a look at the 2 stage trigger.
  10. Not to my knowledge. All the aftermarket stuff for the 308 is for moving the FCG. The 308 is unique in that regard.
  11. I can make it even better! Thanks, I will look into that.
  12. I have a trap/sporting clays range close by. I've put a lot of bird shot out of my 870 and Mossberg, but they wouldn't let me shoot the Saiga there due to the length. You need a 24" barrel, I have a 19". I am trying to get out of Maryland, but I am stuck here for the time being. I did find a range where I could take the Saiga trap shooting, so I can test out the low brass, not to mention it will be a hell of a lot cheaper. I am thinking about adding a recoil pad to the Tapco stock. I have the same stock on the 308 and I have no problems with it. I guess the slugs make a difference,
  13. I was out shooting the 308 today and I still cant get over how well this trigger from Dinzag works and feels. It feels like breaking glass, super crisp no creep. It feels much different than my S-12. Does anyone know what the trigger pull is? It feels like 5 lbs or less.
  14. I took everyone's advice and broke the gun in with 100 rounds of slugs. I was on a range that only allows slugs. Even on position 1 the recoil through the Tapco stock was brutal. It made my Saiga in .308 seem like a 22. I was very impressed with the gun, it functioned very well and was accurate. I plan to get a longer stock with a little padding, and I think it will be good to go. I shot some tactical slugs and they were a lot less painful. I will see if it can cycle trap loads next.
  15. First time I head this story and live a few towns over. At least they didn't say ak47 style shotgun. Saiga means nothing to the average Joe. Thank God the poor guy working the window wasn't killed.
  16. Mine replaced my Z28. Well, I have to have have something to mod and provide me with an adrenaline rush. Not to mention the Saiga affliction is cheaper than the drag racing hobby.
  17. Wow, that is an awesome price, congrats! I can see how this gets out of control. First S-12 then .308 now I wan the 5.45.
  18. I was planning on putting the Tasco on my 10/22 eventually. I think its a nice "cheap scope". Unfortunately I have too many projects going at once, and they are all works in progress. I need to spend more time at the range with the 308 and see if I can get to a 200+ yard range. I'll have to look into the Barnes triple shot. I hear what you are saying. It's like the 9mm round with the correct +p rounds it really performs like a bigger caliber. Overall, I am very pleased with the 308. I seems to be very versatile and do a lot of things well.
  19. I purchased that exact package from Classic Arms. For the money its a good package, but the scope is a cheap Tasco. I works for me. I have only shot it at 100 yards. I need a little more seat time to see if it will hold zero, but so far so good. I don't know about big game with a 308. I have only shot Brown Bear 150 grain bullets.
  20. I used one with my conversion. The plate keeps the pins from backing out. Seems solid and reliable to me.
  21. I hear you, but I can only speak from my experience. I used Dinzag's kit so it was just a drop in trigger group with the safety problem fixed. I did have to drill a hole for the trigger guard. I think without Dinzag's drop in kit I would have been lost.
  22. Yes, most often the PG hole is pre-cut. Plus no drilling out rivets to move the trigger group. I had a few minor snags, but all in all was very easy. Just do a little research and you will be good to go.
  23. Brown Bear, cheap Russian stuff. It can be had for $7 per 20 rounds. Its a little dirty, but good for the price.
  24. Camping without beer? Greenridge will never be the same! I can't wait to move to TN.
  25. Check out Primary Arms. The have a micro dot that gets great reviews on AR15.com. I plan to order a generation 2 when they are back in stock. Not bad for the price.
