  1. I will take down the gun and see if the pistol grip hole and the trigger hole are there. If they are I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure I will have more questions once I get started. Thanks
  2. I've been on the fence about this. I think I need to pull the trigger on project 308 restoration. I guess I will be placing my order to Dinzag soon. I was on the fence about having it done professionally, but the money I save I can put towards mags and ammo. This saiga hobby is getting expensive...
  3. I need to order the kit from Dizang too, but I'm concerned about my skills or lack of skills in pulling this off. I guess I should just drop the hammer and get it done. At least I can get help on the forum. It can't be that difficult.
  4. The gun is finally home. I am really pleased. It came with all the goodies and an 8 round mag. Not a bad gun for 449. Of course I will have to see how it shoots, but I really think it's going to be a handy little rifle with a good punch. I need to get it to the range and put a few hundred rounds through it. Then I will start the conversion process.
  5. I think you will like your Saiga I just got my .308 today. I can't wait to get it to the range. I got the 16" and I really like the feel of the gun. I see what everyone is talking about with the trigger, that is one awkward trigger pull. It's really travels up, I can see a conversion is in my future.
  6. I wish I didn't live in Maryland, but I am stuck here for the time being. I am planning to making the move to Tennessee in the future. I miss my concealed carry permit. The package I purchased came with a scope mount, mounts and a cheap Tasco Pronghorn scope. I am interested to see how it does out of the box. I will be thrilled if it shoots 3" groups. Thanks for all the info
  7. Thanks, The manual is interesting it lists other converted versions. I just can't wait to take it to the range and brake it in. Then I will get busy on the conversion process.
  8. I just signed the paper work from my FFL for my new Saiga in 308. Unfortunately I have to wait 7 days before I can take possession due to the regulations in Maryland. My FFL gave me the owners manual to look at until I take the gun home. Just a few questions.. 1. In the back on the manual it says the gun shot 93mm group with 4 shoots at 100M, Do they test fire them at the factory? 2. Do they ship them without the magazine. The manual has a line through the magazine? I didn't get to go through the box the FFL was in a hurry to get me going. Thanks
  9. I am interested in the 308 conversion, but I have a little apprehension too. I have a some experience with firearms. I've built an ar-15 lower, but I felt like it was more like building Legos. Is the conversion doable for an newbie? I would use the Danzig kit for sure. Thanks
  10. It's a regular AK, so you can swap out FCG - as you can see from pictures - no conversion for this is needed. Read the top of the thread on the stock change. The handguards can be swapped out as with any other saiga rifle - need 308 handguard retainer from Dinzag. Thanks for the information. I think I buy a non thumbhole .308. I did a little more reading and cleared up some of my confusion. Thanks again...
  11. How does the trigger compare to the standard .308. What can I do to make it compliant for high caps? Can you change out the stock? I've tried the search function, but I'm a little confused. From what I've read the conversion would be more custom than a standard .308. I don't even have my s-12, I am waiting from one from Cadiz, I can't wait! But I'm contemplating a .308. I just don know which one to get 19, 21 or thumb-hole? This Saiga stuff is addictive.
  12. I've had good luck with my Spydeco Native. Very light weight and comfortable and not too expensive if you loose it.
  13. I find the gun laws are a good litmus test for a state. I just looked at the returns on the last election the more red the better for me. Too bad I live in Maryland you can't get much more blue than this. As soon as I can find a decent job in Tennessee I am the hell out of Maryland. Now that being said I am fortunate to have employment in Maryland.
  14. Thanks, I will report back after Saturday. I think my AR is going to get neglected soon....
  15. I'm looking at a an S-12 this weekend. I know to look for the ports and the serial numbers, but is there any other advice you can give me to make me look like I have a clue. Are the gas ports easily to locate? Thanks... I can't wait to put some slugs down range soon....
