  1. Yeah, The Lovely Lady dropped her Antelope with the larger Federal bullet last season with a nice neck shot. I just seem to have around 3500 of these V-max bullets, and was thinking/hoping that they may also be useful......I can save the aprox, 1500 hollow points for "Other" Targets.......obviously I did not suffer any "Ammo-shortage" this past year. Antelope are pretty small critters. My buddy used his 30-06 and pretty much destroyed the Antelope....The top of the shoulders and a good bit of the backstrap were ruined with his first shot, which also hit the spine...as shown here.....
  2. Well, I have 5 different rounds for potential use in antelope hunting. The Federal 64gr SP, the Hornady 55gr V-max, The Hernady 55gr Z-Max, A 55gr Hornady hollow point, and the 50gr Hornady V-Max. We have used the Federals and I like the few extra grains of weight but it is more expensive than the reloads. Not sure it makes a difference, but I like the idea of a bigger bullet. I assume the 55gr V-max and 55gr Z-max only differ in color and marketing, and will perform the same. I have only 60 rounds of the Fed 64gr. and have the others in more numerous amounts. The quantities asides, what
  3. Looks like a chubby Aston Martin.
  4. I think those are mine. Were they in the ground, under some dirt, near a rock, near a tree? Yeah, those are mine....
  5. Last buddy I buried. I used an antique shotgun that I had as a grave marker for my everyday/hunting friend. She was a Smarty-pants fer sure. Buried her next to my favorite hunting blind on the ranch.
  6. Well, I know how ya must feel, but you can take pride in what you've done for him and how you handled his last day. I've had a few that I was their first touch when they were born, and the last touch they felt when they passed. Never gets easier, but I keep on getting more dog buddies. I hate to think about losing them, but I wouldn't trade em for the world and I try to always do it (raise them) better each time. Giving them "a dogs life" is worth the pain of seeing them go. A dogs love and loyalty will get me through the worst days. Like the joke says, "Lock yer wife and yer dog in the car
  7. In a nutshell, you only need to comply with 922r if using magazines that hold more than 5 rounds. A non-922r compliant weapon is not in any way illegal unless you are using hi-cap mags. If they sold you a non922r compliant weapon with only a hi-cap mag, then that is not good on their part. Otherwise, nothing bad/wrong/shady has occurred in this transaction and if you wish to use 10 round mags or drum mags, then do a conversion.
  8. City folk must be SOME kind a pussies. It's a dog on a leash fer cryin out loud. A police officer ought to have enough Balls and sense to handle that much. How about his Tazer or pepper spray if he isn't able to deal with a leashed dog.
  9. I'm not right then. I literally bought a new truck with the money I made after Newtown. Free market and all that. Everytime you buy ammo, it's from someone who bought it at a lower price, then marked it up a bit, then sold it to you. A friend of mine owns an ammo business, at a recent show he sold almost all of his ammo in an hour, and MOST of it was to other venders, who promptly put a higher price on the box and put em up for sale. Did My friend whine like a baby? Nope, he figured a fair price for him, and was stoked to have sold out of product. I have had no problems finding ammo this
  10. Hey, I forgot about Burn Notice. That show has some really nice rides in it!!
  11. Yeah, I knew someone would say that as soon as I even thought of posting this here. So, I suppose I'll be trying that next time. I suppose ya can't please all the folks, all of the time. Actually, yes, it really isn't very difficult. 6 paces from target, anyone who is a decent shot can do it. I shot half the deck today. I encourage everyone to try it.....it makes ya feel like ya can shoot strait, and makes for a good "No Trespassing" sign at yer gate.
  12. Nice, I've done it w/my Ruger Blackhawk in .44mag as well. It's one of those things that make3s ya feel like all of the practice/range time is worth it. I am a big fan of Bob Mundon and he has inspired me to become a better master of my guns. I also shoot @ the 12" steel gongs w/the .38 snub nose and can usually get 4 out of 5 @ 50yds.....once, only once, I hit 4 out of 5 @ 100yds. Usually I hit the 100yd gong 2 out of 5 shots, but I'm getting better. Can't believe I don't do CAS, having both single action ruger pistol and lever action Marlin in .44mag. I need to look into that. Lord knows I w
  13. I had a good time @ the range this morning, in between rain showers. I brought some blue Sticky-putty stuff and a deck of playing cards for targets. Granted, I was only 5-7yds away from the targets, but it was still a great time.
  14. A Fool and his money are soon parted, and the Tools don't make the Man........Though those Men may have been Tools.
  15. I love the Munster-mobile, and I can't believe I forgot about Miami Vice! The only reason I would watch it was for the cars!!! Good ones fellas!
  16. I stick to "Face to Face" meetings and I am a stickler for details when buying a gun. I got a guy down $100 on a rifle, because it was dirty. He said "Oh, I usually, always (??) clean it after I shoot it, but I just went shooting with it one last time and forgot to clean it." I pointed out all the internal residue that takes much more than 1 shooting session for a Bolt gun to build up, and thusly also called B.S. on the claim of "Barely been fired." I told him that if he actually did clean it after every use, it would look like MY rifles do.......and mine have Never been that dirty. Real
  17. One of my favorite shows as a kid was "Adam-12." I saw that it is now on Netflix, so I started watching it again, and Holy Smokes, does it have a Ton of cool cars in it!!! Cars that span the 50's, 60's, and early 70's. Tons of VW Beetles, Tons of Mustangs, and Tons of Caddilacs! Plus Many Many others. The Lovely Lady even suggested making a drinking-game out of it. Just pick a car, we chose VW Beetles, and take a drink everytime you spot one! Boy, that'll do ya right fer sure! If you pick Beetles, Mustangs, or Caddys, Be sure to have a comfy chair, cause yer gonna git messed up!!! So wha
  18. Remember, he could be bailing the internet due to computer hacking, or identity theft, or bank account info being hacked......angry Ex-wife, and many other issues of Privacy that folks really do have problems with online.
  19. Well, the prison camps are no new news, but a "Chanel" Guillotine? I'm not sure that is really true.......they make perfumes and handbags don't they?
  20. I'd say severe illness or injury. With no medical services, personal "health-care" may be the most difficult part of Self-sufficiency.
  21. The web site I got the awning from is busdepot.com. Warn him that they have lots of awesome stuff for VWs!!!! Keep that credit card in check!!!!! Great place to buy stuff from. I have made a few transactions with them and I am very pleased with the products they sell. The awning can connect right to the Bus, so no stakes or ropes needed to set it up. I love it. edit: if he is not yet a member of thesamba.com, he should be. Tons of great info there, but kind of a more "stuffy" web site than here.
  22. Well, the show was a blast! I may have had a few more drinks than needed, but I enjoyed them all! Lots of very nice Rat Rods w/ great ingenuity and craftsmanship. We/the dogs had fun......well, the dogs were awesome and pretty much crashed out in the Wonderbus most of the weekend.
  23. If there are any left I will! Next batch will be white printing on black shirts.
  24. Got my shirts done just in time for the car show this weekend. Hoping to sell them all and cover some of the cost of the adventure.
