  1. Yeah, I too sort of had that experience. I never noticed my Saiga had a slight front sight post cant until after I had the gun for almost a year. It was my first rifle so I didn't know anything about sight cant or to check for it. I checked the link to the Ak Sight Adjustment tool, and some reviewers are saying that it fixed their cant. Is it possible to fix the cant with the tool? Part of me doesn't mind the cant too much because I can hit a human sized target at 100 yards just fine, while another part of me hates an imperfection in the gun. I'd be pretty scared to break the front sight
  2. Yeah, I know how it sounds, but I wouldn't be putting all this money into the gun if I didn't think it was worth it. Believe me I was very careful with pursuing this idea, I don't have too much money to be wasting. The first rifle I bought was a Saiga 7.62x39, alittle more than a year and a half ago. I got it because it was reliable and cheap. I'm a college student so money is very tight, and shooting is my only real hobby. However, as prices rose 7.62x39 ammo began to become a bit scarce and very expensive for me, so I decided to get the Mosin-Nagant because of the cheap ammo. When I b
  3. I'm going to have a gunsmith install a PE scope mount that has 1 inch rings. I'm also getting the bolt bent. Here is a photo of a PE mount http://www.mosinnagant.net/images/48._PE_top_mount__perspective_31.JPG My 91/30 will do 3 inch groups at 100 yards, and this is shooting while standing, using surplus ammo, and trying to compensate for a crooked front sight. I bent up the front sight by putting the bayonet on it, and I learned not to do that again. (was really cool with it on though) So in the end I figure I get the front sight fixed, put a decent scope on it, try m
  4. I'm getting a scope for my Mosin-Nagant 91/30 (I know I shouldn't butcher a piece of history, but the bore is flawless, and the rifle gets great groups) but I don't know much about magnification, I've never had a scoped rifle before. The longest range at the shooting club I go to is 300 yards. I would like to be able to shoot further, maybe out to 500 yards because I think I might attend one of the appleseed shoots this summer, and they use a 500 yard range. These are the scope magnification ranges I have been looking at, so how far could someone competently shoot with the following ma
  5. Does anyone know which mount sits lower, the UTG side rail or the BP-02?
  6. I was looking at that muzzle attachment clip a couple days ago as a cheaper solution to having to take my Saiga to a gunsmith to have my rifle barrel threaded so I can get a muzzle break. Is the Dpharms Phantom device a flash suppressor or a muzzle break? The title of the product calls it a flash hider, but the description of the product calls it a muzzle break. I live in New Jersey so I can't have a flash hider
  7. Thanks for the advice, I'm going to look into it. Do you know where I can get a AK 74 front sight block that will definitely fit a Saiga 7.62x39?
  8. i use some generic synthetic safe gun cleaner to blow out anything thats loose... and i also use CLP.. hows that thing shooting.. lol The gun is shooting great. I went to the range again on Sunday and brought two of my friends who hadn't shot a gun in a very very long time with me. Out of the assortment of guns I brought, which were the Saiga 7.62x39, a Marlin Rifle 22 LR, a 22 LR Magnum Revolver, and a Sig Mosquito 22LR, the Saiga was easily everyone's favorite. Someone who had been shooting at the range before us left some large metal barrels, an old gas tank, and an old
  9. What brand of gun cleaning solvent would you recommend for cleaning the Saiga? I was using Hoppe's 9 from my fathers hand gun cleaning kit, but its run out, so I was wondering if there is something else/better I should use. I'm still a bit new to guns, so I have mainly been watching videos online about cleaning ak style rifles as a tutorial. Should I be concerned about rust? Which gun oil would you recommend to prevent rusting/where should I apply it? Any advice would be great, I want my Saiga to last for a long time.
  10. Yeah, unfortunately I'm probably not going to be shooting the Saiga rifle again for awhile due to the ammo prices. I've got around 500-600 rounds left. I'm looking to get a Mosin-Nagant because it looks like its fun and relatively cheap to shoot.
