  1. Mark: I sent you an inquiring e-mail before I read the posts. I wish you well. I went through a nasty health issue going on two years ago, and I am doing well now. I wish you the best of luck with your health.
  2. Hopefully the Russkies will treat them like the dogs they are.
  3. I like your trigger guard idea. I will try one to see if my welding skills are up to the task.
  4. I would like three forward sight block, three retainers, three cleaning rods, and three gas blocks, if you have anyleft. Will send PM tomorrow. I know, I'm late to the dance. So what else is new?
  5. Racist, sexist, homophobe!

  6. I used a website called fflkit.com. Sure, the ATF has all the info, but this site walks you through all the steps. I operate out of my house. When the ATF inspector showed up for my inspection, she (a hottie, by the way!) was impressed that I had everything in order. I had HOA approval, a letter from local Law Enforcement, business licence, naming rights for my company, etc. If memory serves, the cost was around $30-40. Probably the best investment I made. You want to start out on the right foot with the ATF. Hassling them would be like poking a grizzly without a cage!
  7. I finally got around to posting the pics. Snow Grey DuraCoat w/ Matte Clear DPH stock with folding hardware Chaos rail, forward grip, compensator and gas plug Tromix FCG and DIY trigger guard Mako pistol grip Counter Sniper Mini Red Dot (not pictured) My thanks to all the members for their invaluable help!
  8. I am not an expert, but those areas are typically where factory oil hangs out. I degreased mine before and after sandblasting and some oil still seeped out. I degreased it a couple of more times and put it in the oven for a while, just to make sure. Also, I used DuraPhos as an undercoat to assure better adhesion. Prep is 95% of firearm refinishing.
  9. Welcome to the forum. I lurked for quite a while, just absorbing the vast amount of information available here. Now, on to the abrasive question.... I sure hope I get to read this one before the mods delete it!
  10. I received my new issue of "Tactical Weapons" magazine yesterday. I was finishing assembling my S12, so I did not glance at it until today. There is an article about a full-auto 12ga. shotgun made my AA. It was actually invented by Atchison Assault, so I breathed a sigh of relief to discover it was not Alliance Armanent. I turned the page, and there it was, the Wraithmaker in a blurb attached to the article. It went on to say that we ordinary humans do not have access to the full auto shotgun, but the AA Wraithmaker is as close as we can come. It went on to praise the company and it's wo
  11. I am driving from AZ to Vegas for the SHOT show. I am totally ignorant of their carry laws. I know my Concealed Carry permit is not recognized there, but what about transporting in a vehicle. I ALWAYS travel armed, so I was wondering what their laws are.
  12. I bought her in April and all the parts and extras (to save on shipping, of course!). I also bid on, and won Chaos' NRA Membership Charity auction, so I have some awesome furniture. (Thanks Cameron!) Over the next few months, a sandblast cabinet, airbrushes, and some Dura Coat showed up one by one. I finally said WTF and put her in the cabinet and blasted away. I used DuraPhos as an undercoat for better adhesion and selected Snow Grey as my preferred color. I saw one like it in the forum with the black furniture, so that is what I was shooting for. The first pic is after blasting, and t
  13. If I knew I was going to grow up to be a porn star, I never would have named my first dog "Frosty". Frosty Poplar? In the immortal words of Al Borlund, "I don't think so, Tim." My wife like me as "The Pool Guy". I kind of like Rod Rammer. BTW, I am sure glad this is not a photo forum. lol
  14. Nice job, BuckyG. Any pics of that front handguard retainer mod you did?
  15. Oh well. I just heard back from RAAC. I did not win a prize. Dang, I was really looking forward to meeting Mr. Kalashnikov!
  16. What do I win? That is soooooo wierd! And yes, it is a small rock, and it has black marks on the three sides and on both ends. I think will sell it on Gunbroker. An official RAAC rock. I will give you guys first dibs!!! Any takers?
  17. I was cleaning my new 545 after breaking it in before conversion. I field stripped it and when I picked up the piston/ bolt carrier this little piece of "stone" fell out. It goes in the hole where the return spring goes (I think). It fits in there perfectly. See photos. I have read mostly the S12 boards, so this is my first experience with the rifles. I read through every post in this 545 forum yesterday and did not see it mentioned . I would have used the search engine, but I do not know what to call it. Am I really stupid, or what? Any information would be greatly appreciated. If
  18. My wife and I got married at a huge college club by the morning rock and roll DJ from my favorite radio station. It was with 29 other couples and we got HAMMERED. I think it took us three days to recover. (we were younger then!) That was 15 years ago. We have had our ups and downs, but at this point, I figure if I leave and go somewhere else, it's going to end up the same eventually, so why go through the work? Just kidding! Who else would let me work on my guns on the living room coffee table? Oh Yeah...our wedding was sponsored by Budweiser!! Top that!
  19. Hey Dylan, It says I have a message from you somewhere, but I am forum-handicapped. I'll keep poking around to see igf I can find it.

  20. What route did you end up taking? How did it turn out? Photos, please!
  21. Chille, that is just about the look I want. I like the grey receiver with the black safety and triggerguard. Have you posted her before? sunnybean, I checked out the GunKoat, and it looks like some awesome stuff. It also sounds like it would be a good thing to have on the rails because it has lubricating properties and is pretty indestructible, so I would not have to worry about having to mask them off, just the gas tube and barrel. Thanks for the info, guys.
  22. Zenmetsu, any luck with finding someone to parkerize your gun? I live in Casa Grande, let me know.

  23. Dylan, I am at exactly the same place you are and asking the same questions about refinishing. I asked about removing the barrel, but that seems to be a daunting task. I was looking for an easier solution that sandblasting to the bare metal, but if that is what it takes, I guess that is what needs to be done. I will keep checking here for any other solutions. Oh yea, Duracoat is only available from Lauer here.
  24. sunnybean, I see your link is to AR15.com, but I tried it three times and it would not work. Could you re-post, please? My avatar..just an old girlfriend. Waaay too high maintenance. Yeah right, in my dreams. No, really, in my dreams!!
