  1. They can pattern well. As with any shotgun you need to pattern the individual gun with the ammo you plan on using. The correct choke and ammo combination is key. One thing is that the barrel threads are not necessarily concentric with the bore, it varies from gun to gun. I have seen them shoot over a foot to one side at 40 yards for this reason. If this is the case, having the barrel threaded for internal chokes can correct the problem since the threading tool is centered off the bore.
  2. If there are no US made parts, why list that it "include 922r compliant parts"? Why not say it contains100% Russian content? 922r compliant parts is understood in this community to mean US parts.
  3. As of this afternoon the listings for the SGL12-07 and SGL12-09 have been removed from the Kvar website. Obviously there was a problem. Now comes the test, how will they handle things from here?
  4. Per the intro to their 922r parts section (below), they obviously know what the term means. The way I read things, if they say their product "includes 922r compliant parts" they mean it includes US made parts. "922r Parts All the high quality US made AK parts for your 922r compliance in one place. We not only give you the parts necessary for you to stay 922r compliant, but also provide you factory authentic, durable, mil-spec products that work and you can be proud of."
  5. Corbin- Like your S12. The safety is pushed down to the detent for the safe position, it is not disengaged. Convenient if you rack a round in any position but one where you are ready to fire. If you are ready to fire, the finger tang will release the bolt and disengage the safety fully until it hits the cap screw stop added to the lower portion of the receiver. Very similar to the work you have done in the past, just with a very gradual ramp on the top to keep things smooth and consistent no matter how hard or soft you pull back on the bolt. For the same reason some weld was added on the
  6. The bolt is locked open by the charging handle being held by the notch in the safety. The safety is postioned higher on the reciever than a normal safe positon to do this. If you pull the charging handle back fully from that position, the bottom of the handle rides the contour on the top of the safety and pushes the safety lever down into the proper safe position on the receiver. When you release the bolt, the gun is charged, safe, and ready to go. Basically there are two options from the locked open position, charge the gun by the handle which properly engages the safety, or charge th
  7. No BHO. If you notch it this way, when you pull back and release the bolt it moves the safety to the safe position. No problems with reliability when released with the finger tang. Slick as whale snot on ice!
  8. Take a couple of screen shots of their website, I'd be changing that if I were them. that sounds like "false or misleading advertising"... I wonder if they just got sloppy and pasted the blurb over from another gun? Parts might not really be worth enough to justify hiring an attorney to look into whether there is a basis for a demand letter, but who knows... I had already taken a few shots. I will wait and see if they contact me based upon this thread before I start down that road. If they don't contact me I will likely go there (one of the perks of my job). It was misleadin
  9. Just heard from Kvar as well- "There is no US parts on the SGL12-07 shotgun." The English is poor but the message simple and to the point. Perhaps they should edit the the misleading language from the description on their site, "Components include 922r compliant parts, mil-spec Buttstock, and trigger group." Or they could just send me a US made fire control group and US made piston and I would be happy to forgive them for their poor choice of wording.
  10. Perhaps we need to be sending our Reps copies of this 1918 Soviet poster to remind them of what so many have died to protect. "Comrades, Turn in your weapons".
  11. Update: Per and email from Fime customer service "There are no US made parts on the SGL12-07 shotgun. All the components are made in Russia by Izhmash."
  12. I have inquiries into both Kvar and Fime for the same information. I have been unable to identify any US parts (and yes I do have a clue). The buttstock is not the same as a US made Kvar, has no US markings, and has Russian style screws with dual height threads, not the drywall screws that the Kvar comes with. I even pulled the stock to see if there were and marks up in the receiver end, nothing. There are no US markings on the outside of the PG either. The FCG has no markings and a hammer limiter which is even more suspect for US content. The piston appears stock and is definitely not g
  13. He is using Clymer tooling which works off the bore. He says he has never had this issue before even on a Saiga. Perhaps the dulled his tooling or the chrome is thicker on this barrel, it is not like the Russians are known for consistency..
  14. I had an IZ109 threaded for Truchokes back in 2009 without issue. Now my gunsmith is trying to do the same with an SGL12-07 and his tooling will not cut. Can anyone tell me if there are any significant differences in the chrome lining from then till now?
  15. Today's letter to folks at the State level: Dear State official, The letter below is from the Attorney General of South Carolina. I hope my elected officials here in Michigan share the same beliefs and have the strength to fight for those they represent. Dear Mr. XXXXXX The Founding Fathers made it very clear: the ability to bear arms is a fundamental right of citizenship in these United States. The America they created is a place where "We the People" are guaranteed the right to defend ourselves, our families and our property. We must not allow emotions to alter or abridge
