  1. Since you nevered PMed me then post five hours later to argue the terminology of what you are asking for, I respectively withdraw my offer to you. If you really wanted one you might have tried to contact me seeing as my post was the last on the thread before you posted that reply. Sorry

  3. Doesn't happen with Paulys Glassbolt mod. I keep a SGM 8 rounder with 000 Buck in mine, bolt closed. I inspect it every couple of weeks and rack to test. No problems yet. Before the glassbolt I would keep the bolt held back because of round deformation.
  4. I have the Krebs Custom on my S12. Shot some clays last week. Just line up the clay-front ring-rear ring & squeeze the trigger. I like them.
  5. Ah, the length is probably 20. We are just looking at the chamber end right now and need some prints for it since we do not have a spare barrel. The ports can be measured off the gun we have. This is a small machine shop business my bud has and most of the work will be done by both of us. He already does rifle, shotty and pistol bbl but most have been screw in types.
  6. I need to find a blueprint or schematic of the S12 barrel for a trial at producing my own rifled barrel. I am working closely with another machinist who has the capacity to make one. Also any other additional info would be appreciated. Thanks, Peck
  7. I had a aguy ask me for a couple of dollars. I was getting into my vehicle downtown after meeting some friends for lunch. He had just walked up to them asking for money and they gave him a dollar. He wasn't homeless and dressed with good clothes. I told him he could have all the change in my console. After seeing I pulled out about fifty pennies and some dimes he looked at it and refused to take it. I said " guess you really don't need money then because it spends just the same". I drove off laughing.
  8. ^^Your gas tubes ready to come off^^ Looks better with the handguard.
  9. A carbide drill bit would work well here if your using a drill press. That is if you have a flat point of contact to keep the drill from walking off. You could try using pins to fit down into the chip flutes of the tap. Griping those with pliers and twisting it out the way it went in. Almost the same as an actual broken tap extractor. Ahh, the memories of my younger machinist days. Its not how many holes you've tapped but how many taps you broke that really shows experience in that field.
  10. New sgl21. Shot ten rounds thru it yesterday to check functionality. Did not get to check accuracy. It ran fine for those ten rounds and I can't wait to get some bench time with it to dial it in. I did pick up my brass and noticed the primers were struck very hard. Hard enough for there to be a burr raised up around the edge of the strike. Just wanna to see if this was normal. No rifle I have ever shot has created a strike like that.
  11. Let me ask... Are the rifles, say the low end Red Jacket model, any different from any other AK?
  12. I just picked up my new sgl21 this morning, shooting later today. I have to say at first glance in the store I was like "meh". After taking it home to really molest it and do some cleaning/lubrication before I shoot it for the first time, I begain to see how the fit and finished was miles ahead of most AK's I have handled. The reciever is just beautiful in its finish and love the "missing" axis pin holes. The only issues are what seems to be a crappy trigger pull (haven't shot it yet so that may change) and a need of profiling/polishing the bolt and carrier. Action is smooth but not anywh
  13. Ha, it was delivered today to my FFL. Can't get there before they close due to work. Now it has to sit in that dark store all night by itself. Will get some time to shoot it tomorrow at a buddies house since we already have a clay shoot scheduled. Gonna be a long night.
  14. Here, Here Pauly I stand and applaud you sir. Well said.
  15. This is why I've been stocking up on bulbs. Don't use the 100 watt bulbs but 75 and below are going away by 2014 or so. Got a whole closet dedicated just for this purpose. About waist high as we speak. Everytime I'm at one of the box stores I pick up a case. I don't mind the fluorescent bulbs as I have a few in lamps that burn continually for night lighting, etc. The problem is my wife hates the strange light they give off. Only thing they are really good for is determining my socks are indeed black to match my slacks. I have picked up the dark blues a few times only to notice wh
  16. I just ordered the SGL21 in plum! Should be here by the middle of September if not sooner. This will be my first 7.62x39. I went back and forth over just doing a conversion myself but in the end decided I would like to have a gun from a reputable dealer in case I wished to resale in the future(dream gun is the Red Jacket internally suppressed AK). As far as I have researched, these will accept standard AK surplus mags. Am I correct? Also I want some wood furniture to switch out with the plum polymer every now and then. Do you guys consider this taboo when the gun is an Arsenal?

I have the Ace stock and ordered the 1" pad for it for the same reason. It also helped the sight picture as I was having the same problem you were. Also changed the orientation of the pad because it is not symmetrical from top to bottom in order to raise it up the shoulder some. I do wish the internal block had more of an angle milled into it but the ace stocks are mostly use with folders as far as I can tell.
  18. Good experiment! Just had to comment on this one. Interesting how the different formulas of plastic melt. So I see you like to use wood to smoke your well done plastic before consumption. I prefer using the grill but to each his own!
  19. If I understand correctly, the Saiga rifles DO NOT have the reliability issues that plague the shotguns? I would definitely be willing to convert one if that is the case. Although, what are the best in terms of countries of origin? I want to say I've heard to stay away from the Chinese models. I like the Arsenal versions because of the familiar name in the industry and the Red Jacket because of resale and custom work.
  20. I recently sold my DPMS. 223 to a friend in order to buy a 7.62x39 rifle. I currently own a converted S-12 I built myself so am knowledgeable about all things Saiga. What I would like to do is buy an already converted Saiga or some variant of that caliber. Have looked at Arsenal, Atlantic, and Red Jacket. What I am concerned about is build quality and reliability. Sure Red Jacket products are reliable and shouldn't have problems, but don't know about any of the other companies. Also the Bulgarian, Romanian, Chinese stuff escapes me as to wish one I should be looking at as far as quality.
  21. What's awesome here is the vendor directly posting to this thread to resolve the problem. This is the new standard for other vendors! Are you listening??
