After I did that I shined a light to make sure the barrel was clear and I saw something odd--its about 12 inches down...about where the gas turny thingy is, and its on the top of the barrel. I'm not sure what it is, I was thinking maybe powder or god forbid rust, but the patches come out clean. I got to looking and thought it might be an imperfection in the metel, or a chip or something--I've only got about 30 rou

Sounds like there is more than more owners manual out there, this is not in mine. No where in the manual is adjusting the gas system mentioned.

You sound like the gunsmith I just got it back from. Except he was like "early next week"...for about a month. Thanks Kevin

Every since I got my S-12 back from the gunsmith(maybe before I can remember) when I tip the gun forward I hear something sliding then *tink*, and if I tip it up I hear the same thing slide back then *tink*. It sounds like its coming from the area where you adjust the gas setting. Is this normal? Please say 'yes' I am supposed to go out to the range this weekend Thanks, Kevin

That is kinda stupid, you would think they would atleast put a "Posted On Date" or something if the ads are never going to expire. Thanks for the info.

hmm. I used to know someone who lived there and he said there was quite a bit of Russian culture. I think he was 1/2 Russian. Did some research and it seems there is quite a bit of Russian influence: Russia governed Alaska as a colony for almost as long as the United States has now governed Alaska as a territory and state. Alaska has many historic Russian buildings. There are active Russian Orthodox Churches in some 80 Alaska communities, many of which still use the old-style Russian Orthodox calendar and celebrate Christmas on what is marked as Jan. 7 in Western calendars. There is quite a large Russian population in Alaska, anyone from around there? I'm wondering if parts might be easier to come by up there given the culture. Heading up there on vacation soon, was wondering if it would be worth keeping an eye out. Any ideas?

That would really really hurt, might lose a finger if you are unlucky :/ . Thanks for the heads up, the only time I really use mine is loading the mag and at the range when they require the bolt be open.
