  1. trying to convert my S12 and I have run into a problem. I am following this vid... the dude says you need to grind the safety to get it "to work", but between motion blur and the guy's finger being in the way, I can't tell wth I am supposed to grind down. I can't get the thing to slide all the way into the receiver. The pin on the end of the safety that goes into the other side of the receiver can't be lined up with the hole because the BHO is in the way. I don't see any other kind of interferance. Does anyone have a close-up pic showing where they had to grind the safety so
  2. A lot of people on the internet say things like this, but I would never do it. If my weapon light shining on them can possibly be a complete surprise (because I was quiet/stealthy on my approach), that would be my preferance. I want to give myself the maximum amount of time possible to ID the threat and if appropriate, take it out.
  3. Holy crap. I recently bought a S12 on GB and was waiting for it to arrive. In the mean time, I started looking for conversion parts and accessories to buy. I wanted some AGP 10 round mags and Saiga-12.com's store had a good price and the free shipping deal. I put my order in at 8:59pm on July 28th. I live in WA state. When I got home from work at 3pm on July 30th, the box with the mags in it was waiting on my kitchen table. Considering that there is a free shipping promo going right now on those mags, that is just rediculously fast service. I will definitely be ordering again. Thanks
  4. what inquiring minds really wanna know is 'how much $$$$?'...that info is at least as useful as anything else posted here...
  5. On my mossberg 500, which I can shoot plenty accurate enough, I just use the original bead site. Works great for me. In the Marines I used irons out to 500m with beat-to-hell / near-smooth-bore M16A2s...no problem. Bling optics aren't of that much interest to me. The good ones are expensive as hell (ACOG etc) and I'd rather just have more guns / ammo / loading stuff than cool optics. As with all things, 'to each their own'. I like iron sights...
  6. I was thinking along the lines of a front sight set up like this.... I see that dinzag arms has both "short and tall" front sight blocks for S12s...I guess my question is, would either be compatible with the chaos quad rail. I apologize for the noobness of the question....it's amplified by the fact that I have neither the gun nor the forearm or sights in front of me...
  7. My first Saiga 12 is on it's way to my FFL and I'm collecting parts for the conversion. My question is about sights. I am going to be using a Chaos quadrail forearm. I like the look of the bolt on front sights. Does anyone sell a rear sight that can attach to the chaos top rail and will work with the bolt on front sights???
  8. I have enough faith in ya that I'm gonna go ahead and order. I don't even own a S12 yet....but I'll be getting one soon and this intro price deal is just too good to pass up!!!
  9. do we getta see a pic of the handguard in black?
  10. I dunno, but does anyone else think it's gonna be pretty fun when the whole $200 thing is 'no big deal'? Just think, thanks to inflation, someday a trip to Mickey Ds will cost $200.
  11. yeah, it seems most likely to me that we'll get a slightly massaged AWB. They will start pushing hard for it right after the 2010 elections so they can get it done with a bit of time before 2012 so things can 'quiet down' before the next election. IMO, there will be a couple of key differences between the 2010 ban and the 1994 ban. 1) No sunset. Perma ban. 2) The FTF and gunshow "loopholes" (yes, bullshit, I know) will be banned so the only way you'll legally be able to transfer a gun is via a licensed dealer. they could toss in a few more a-hole ideas as well...limiting the #
  12. freaking AWESOME dude. I live in a state with a total ban on SBS/SBRs so this would be a sweet alternative. What the the total length including the muzzle attachment? I imagine without one and a cut-the-tang buttpad set up, you could drop a few more inches. I'd like an S12 that was short as possible. The lower rail for a VFG would be fawsome too, though I doubt I'd use the others.
  13. prices gotta be comin' down soon on S12s. I was talking to my FFL recently and he said biz is definitely slowing down. Maybe we've reached the 'begining of the end' of the panic buying. I dunno, we'll see. I'd like to get an S12, but I'm waiting until price comes down a bit. $500 total out of pocket wouldn't be bad. Not sure I'm interested in going higher.
  14. maybe these anti-zombie people are a little on the fringe, but at the same time, gun owners cowering in the shadows and 'doing their thing' in secret is not helping our cause. All that does is propagate the idea that what we are doing is wrong. After all, if what you are doing is "OK", you don't need to do it in secret. The wack left has been trying to define gun owners as fringe/kooks for years, we shouldn't be helping them.
  15. 12ga usues similar ammo to other shotties I have, and of the 3 shotgun round types listed, it's the most lethal on human targets.
  16. I planned on taking the beast to a gunsmith....assuming I do, they can legally cut the bbl down and perma attach a muzzlebreak? I want an 18.1" total bbl length including the break. Not sure why the guys who made the saiga went with 19" + threads, but whatever. Tooo long for me! As far as the side rail gizmo, what side rail? Never noticed them in any factory saiga pics. I don't want optics on my shotty anyway but...just curious.
  17. rock on man, that's all I needed to know! Thanks!
  18. I found a good deal on a 24" bbl Saiga 12, is there any internal/functional differences between them and the 19" model? I'm thinking of getting the 24" one and cutting the bbl down and adding a muzzle break (permanently) for a total bbl length of 18.1"....
