  1. The factory wood from the 308 will fit. I used a barrel sander to open up the handguard. It took about 5 minutes and then you drill the hole for the handguard screw. looks nice while skeet shooting with a 12 round magazine... travis
  2. I am converting 2 5.45 saigas this evening. I bought the round bullet guides from Dinzag. The bolt seems to hit the guide and stop before closing. Has anyone else had this happen? I emailed Brian and hope that it is a simple fix. Travis
  3. I have the same rifle and looked into the muzzle brake option also. I ordered one with the threading kit from Dinzag. Removing the front sight tower was easy with a 2.5mm pin punch and a plastic hammer. I had him machine the sight tower to fit further back. I got the parts last weekend and it took all of 30 minutes to thread the barrel and reinstall the sight tower. My rifle looks much better and hopefully I will get a chance to shoot it soon. Travis
  4. I used an ATI stock after while converting it. I really like the way it shoots. It feels smoother than my unconverted 308. Travis
  5. I bought a 308 22" saiga a month ago with the wood trim. It was a used gun, but it is beautiful. It feels really well balanced and shoots nicely. I did find an extra set of wood furniture online a while back that I modded to fit my S12, so it is out there. It is so much better than the factory plastic stuff. Travis\
  6. I had a russian SKS that would slam fire when the bolt got dirty. The firing pin would get stuck forward, and it would dump any rounds left in it. the second time it happened, the range master came down to see what was going on. Upon inspection, the bolt was dirty and a little hoppes #9 freed it up.
  7. I think its a good deal. I just bought and converted a 22 inch 308 last month. Rifle 499 ati stock 70 tapco hg 40 bipod 30 fcg 40 posp scope 200 800 bucks doesn't sound so bad. Travis
  8. My Saiga .308 with 22" barrel comes in tomorrow from Centerfire. I have started to assemble the conversion parts. MAA is sending FCG, triggerguard, and tapco handguard. Centerfire is sending ATI stock and bipod. I am interested in a recommendation for a scope. I fgure I will get a mount that locks onto the optics rail like I had on my 47. What scope are you guys using. I am interested in being able to see what I hit at 300 yds and don't mind spending a little money on something nice. Thanks for the info. Travis
  9. Here is a pic of my conversion. It uses Miss. Auto triggerguard, Tapco FCG, and Tapco folding stock.
  10. I'll take em. PM where to send the dough. Thanks
  11. I did not like the feel of the factory buttstock and could not find a wooden set anywhere. I ordered a saiga .308 birch set from Saigastock.com and did a little dremel work. The buttstock feels great and added some weight to the rear of the gun. The front is nice too. It reguires a little more work to change gas settings, but I like the look. Too bad I splintered the wood drilling the hole in the forearm. Gonna have to get some elmers. travis
