  1. possibly most awesome thing ever.
  2. well I dont know about the 7.62 stuff but I bought a couple of boxs of 9mm at the phoenix gun show and they wont chamber into my SR9 ruger 1 box being hollow point and the other ball and neither one works never buy that garbage again! Just put 150 rounds of Brown Bear 9mm Luger through my new Glock 26 yesterday. No problems and I'll be buying more. That was my favorite ammo when I could find it. i shot a lot of it and it worked flawlessly. It was cheap, and I accidentally shot down a tree with 4 shots once.
  3. The puck is just a larger diameter piston with a shorter stroke which hits a rod that would be considered the piston on a normal ak. They are also known as pistons and tappets. It's job is to make a tighter seal and have a larger surface area to do more work. The puck counts as 1 compliance part for 922 ® purposes. Several companies make aftermarket pucks. I personally have a King armory which is designed to add additional cycling power and reduce fouling. It makes a big difference. Someone else is developing one with a similar face that claims to come in 3 options to match the gas c
  4. I have a PT 99 AF. Love it. wouldn't trade it for a Beretta except for the cheaper mags and no mods to put on a laser grip. Cheaper lighter, better safety, better sights. Arguably better made barrel. I have put thousands of rounds through mine, back when I could get them cheap I would go through a few boxes a week. I had my first misfeed a couple of months ago. I was shocked actually. I thought I must need a new magspring from storing it loaded. Then I realized I had neglected to clean my magazine more than about twice in the time I have owned it (6) years +. I cleaned the mag, and no problems
  5. I hope my new 109 likes the winLR 00 and slugs, I have a flat of each Let us know and see how that works out.
  6. More or less the same for the Yakima area, the only free range area I know of is some public land that is windy and usually in a dust storm. Shooting shottys at paper gets old quickly.
  7. +1. I just think he should cut the price in half and sell way more. I could justify $60 and think I would like that much better than drums. A magwell / 5 surefire combo pack would make him some money, and make me happy.
  8. Thanks to all you guys who have posted patterning and ammo comparisons. I have read a few, and I appreciate them greatly. I couldn't afford to try everything out, so knowing that s&b runs better than winchester is a good thing. I also like that your gun is pretty mcuch stock. Most of the highly scientific tests I have read were done with setups so modified, that I wasn't sure how well their results would compare to mine. I have a few s&b 15 pellet 3" OO buck that I might pattern and maybe add the pics to your thread later if you don't mind. That way the pics will be in the same pla
  9. I am in yakima, the crime center of our state. I sometimes go over to your side of the state where all of the political decisions are made, when I want to hang out with family over there. I like the idea of a conversion party and maybe a group buy. I also would like to try out that 3 gun stuff, but can't find anything like that over here. Or if I do their day fees are way higher than the clubs I see in the midwest states. I would drive to Everett for a good weekend of shooting.
  10. + 1 but $50 for the well.
  11. does anyone know how much it should cost to have my barrel simply threaded for a choke tube rather than getting the adapter?
  12. Thank you for posting this! This adapter is exactly what I have been looking for! Cheaper than the polychoke too(depending on how many choke tubes I get for it), and allows me to get a paradox.... beautiful.
  13. At the risk of thread-jacking is there a decent recipe for 00 buck and for slug that can be made cheaply from walmart federal bulk hulls? I would like to make up a bunch once I figure out where my father stashed his reloading stuff.
  14. I did. See above photos. I had to break down and get the tool from Tech Sights, because sighting this thing in without it is somewhere between infuriating and impossible. The gun itself is great; shoots way better than I do, although that's not saying much. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the stock. I think it may be too short for me, and now I'm kicking myself for not getting the Tapco T6 for an extra 30 bucks or so. Also one of my Butler Creek mags is already gunked up and fails to feed sometimes. So all in all, I'm having a blast with this gun! I'm sure it will serve me well f
  15. well Gary. so far you seem pretty cool to me. As for asking people what they think is fair, I say how ever you want to do it is fair. You are the one who kindly gave it away. Thanks for the chance.
  16. Well, I just bought a XDM and I love it for all those reasons. But, if you really want to hammer out some of that 9mm, get one of these: MPA30 1. Reliability - have had only 2 jams out of 1000's of rounds 2. Accuracy - uh, with a laser - uhm sure! 3. Price - definitely! starting at $349 4. Size - of mag? 30 rounds! and also the MINI version I have 2 30 shot mags for my taurus, and it doesn't look like something out of a chuck norris movie. It has been extremely reliable as well, and it feels pretty balanced with them too. My uncle used to have a tec-9 with 50 sho
  17. Nothing legal that would be a problem, in any state. But if you want your $200 Russian gun made of stamped steel to remain all original... $200? maybe 10 years ago-- used. Try 3 times that around here... I want the gun I want. not necessarily the gun that is offered. I don't want to spend my time and money on things that don't help, or can screw up the gun, but I am gonna take it outa that package and shoot it. If something makes it better to my tastes, I will do it cash and time permitting. If you know where I can legally find one for $200, pm me, I will buy at least 2.
  18. Hey Bolivian, I just bought a new Saiga 12, I took it to the range today and I can say without a doubt that it is awesome! Everything works out of the box, although I did buy some 10 round mags. I also bought a recoil buffer, but I wanted to shoot the Saiga once before I installed it, and those slugs certainly do deliver a lot of kick, so be prepared if you plan to shoot slugs. Also I'm a Saiga 12 forum noob, lol The use of recoil buffers in the S12 has proven to be problematic. If Mr. Kalashnikov had thought it needed a recoil buffer, he'd have designed it with one maybe buffers
  19. I was curious if anyone knows of legal badstuff related to polishing out the numbers stamped on the bolt. Mine runs well, but better is better.
  20. Go out and shoot it with good and crappy ammo. if it has problems they will be very obvious. Most are fairly straightforward fixes or coverd by warranty. If it doesn't malfunction in the first couple hundred cheapo shot then it probably doesn't at all... you can have some fun for about $40 and find the answer to your question.
  21. I like my PT99. It has adjustable sight s and 17+1, ambi safety, a better firing pin mechanism than the Beretta and a barrel that is at least as good. The frame is lighter than the Beretta (aluminum) too. New ones often come with built in under rail. Mine has been perfectly reliable for thousands of rounds. It is a much better deal than the Beretta. I think it is at least as good a gun, and I like the features better. On the downside, there is not de-cocking lever (which I don't miss) the safety sticks out too far for carry and should be trimmed down. (it can easily grab things by accide
  22. Someone modified the barrel to accept the common Winchester style choke tubes, which can be found everywhere. It is a pretty good improvement, because you can now adjust your choke to taste for different applications. The standard barrel is externally threaded for short Russian chokes or an expensive poly choke adjustable. Internal screw in types like winchokes or remchokes are considered to be superior, but the modification requires gunsmithing tools and skill. Most likely this was done after sale by a gunsmith. Winchokes are made by many manufacturers to a large variety of specifications
