  1. Does your gun cycle everything you want to shoot now? if so the KA puck should do the job with or without the nice fixr plug. If your gun seems to cycle too hard with any ammo setting, it will cycle slightly harder with the puck (overgassed) and the plug would help with that. Chaos makes a compliance puck that does not seem to make claims toward adding power to your cycle, so that might be better for this issue. It also helps you keep from beating up your gun if you always shoot extra heavy ammo, and your gun tends toward over gassing. More likely you are slightly undergassed, and the KA
  2. here is one that looks fun to me: http://www.gun-tests.com/custom/apps/gunre...ail.php?id=8010 It has unique style.
  3. +1 for the ruger, but make it stainless with a butler creek side folder and buy Tactical Innovations mags. The plastic ones. I love mine so much. And a butler creek speed loader off of ebay. Do not buy any drum that doesn't have a lever on it. Unless you want a pistol. I love my stainless S&W 2206, It is weird and fun, with a wonderful trigger. And most of the things they say about it's bad reliability are true, unless you feed it what it likes. I think 22 lever guns are pretty fun too, so if you want something other than a 10/22, look into those. (or ruger makes a gun that basical
  4. because I shoot on the weekends.... If I just feel like shooting on a Sunday without prior planning, I would have to swing by a store in addition to getting freinds to gether. that takes time. I spend maybe an hour and a half running around and waiting in line, and the same amount of time shooting. If I have 3-5 bulk packs, I just grab my friends, grab my stuff and go. Especially with lines at walmart on the weekend. If I want heavier stuff, I like to get it on sale. I can't shop around if I have friends waiting on me. Also lately most of the more economical stores where I live are pretty
  5. I put 500, because that is enough to keep a few friends busy for a while if we go out to bust up some clay impromptu. That is on hand. I would certainly buy way more over a 6 month period, so my vote isn't accurate for the purposes of your poll. Sorry about that. But my real answer is however many you want. I could see myself getting a few thousand if I got a very good deal or if I started doing 3gun or similar. practice with the same stuff and you get more consistent...
  6. "blast from the past"--Possibly because they are all good points. Good ideas reoccur until they become the accepted standard. you can bet when Kalashnikov made his entry for the competition there were a bunch of guys who said the unimproved Mauser clones most countries made were good enough for them. Especially the rock and lock mag that has been outdated for half a century. They make a magwell for some countries, why not all!? the us versions are sporterized enough, that there is no reason to appeal to the thick-skulled AK purists on that one. there just aren't any advantages to a clumsy
  7. jeez all you guys are all so harsh. so he's asking way too much. he made the gun look the way he wants it and the epoxy has to be more protective than the paint that came on the gun. Let people style thier guns the way they like them. It's his after all, not yours and at that price I am sure it will stay that way . I think the gun looks okay, aside from the folder. I wouldn't do it to mine, but it doesn't make me cringe like when I see a 1930's car get hacked up to make a custom fiberglass roadster. -- and to the guy who said he would not pay $2, I call out a lie. You would. I would. You c
  8. The KA tappet works, but is not a 100% guarantee. it counts as a compliance part. I also second the reccomendation for the federal bulk pack. Right now it is even dropped to $2 cheaper a case than the winchester, and it runs much better. (they were the same a few months ago.) I think the federal is a little dirtier, but it cycles much better, and has better hulls.
  9. It matches the russian 8 rounders!
  10. Ok, I am pretty much a guy who likes old fashioned scopes on everything but pistols, and I just bought a bunch of slugs, and expect to buy more. Obviously the stock iron sights are pretty cheesy. I may improve them, but I want a scope over the receiver cover in the conventional location. It looks like since I have an s12 not a rifle my choices are a crazy UTG quad foregrip with a rail that extends all the way back, and might be hard to disassemble. Or a bunch of side rails. Also I am a cheapskate.... I want the ability to take it off for trap shooting, and other shot use, and put i
  11. nice. I was about to do something similar, but not as good looking. Now I have to rethink.
  12. I was mostly joking, but $250 seems like a lot for 2 small pieces of metal.
  13. I noticed that there is no entry for saiga, but s12 dotcom has one from "show time" which should be in their fictional guns section. edit-- next poster points out it is under Izhmash , not saiga
  14. yeah, it would be pretty extreme. there is still a good possibility of death if one of those rubber slugs hits you in the right spot. something a little less extreme would be using FX paint rounds. if you havent seen these, they consist of a casing(ive only seen these hand gun calibers- .40, .45, 9mm) with a plastic holder in them that has a plastic bullet full of paint. when fired, the plastic holder stays in the shell, but launches the paint bullet out. i dont know where to buy them, i used to find boxes of these things in buildings used for training on fort carson If you
  15. want......... so bad. do you have any pictures of the comp in components, so I could one off one for myself?
  16. Ah, as Sgt. Joe Friday once said, "The cutting edge of Serbo-Croatian technology!" ...courtesy of FIAT. Who knows? Maybe with FIAT taking over Chrysler, they can start offering us goodies like the Yugo once again. Only it'll be made in the USA and cost $25,000. I keep trying to convince people that the govt should rename Chrysler Auto Group " American Leyland"
  17. The Remington slug box in front of me says they may may be fired through any choke, but improved cylinder is the best. They are 1 oz 2 3/4 fosters , sp12rs. I want a choke for mine, and haven't committed to getting it re threaded for rem chokes. Has anyone actually done serious pattern comparisions between the RAA screw on chokes and the poly choke II's? I am pretty curious because I was planning to buy a poly, but then I read a couple of articles that said they don't pattern very well compared to more modern designed chokes that restrict and go back to parallel with the bore. Als
  18. just use a dremmel burr and go slow and steady, or use a small chisel and go slow by pushing it back and forth with your hand, or a course rasp. relax, it is just plastic. if you don't get in a hurry and support your working hand, you won't mess things up.
  19. so the quick release lever is kinda meaningless then, if you need tools to take it on and off again every time, and you need to re zero the scope? Or am I misunderstanding things? Just curious, because I have considered that mount myself, and can't find any cleaner options. I think the side rail sticks out too far, but otherwise I like the looks of it. Is it centered on the bore or offset to the left on the shotgun? I ask, because I think it is intended for the narrower rifle caliber saigas.
  20. the other way I thought of doing it would be to put epoxy in the bottom side of the follower leaving clearance for the spring. then drill into that, and tap it and cut some althread or a bolt how ever long that needs to be and then assembling as normal. Then you couldn't take it apart by hand without tools, but it would keep everything internal and stock looking from the outside. all you would have to do would be to remove the floorplates and unthread the bolt(s)to revert it back to 5 shot. Definitely cheaper to do than spend $30. But If I went duck hunting every weekend or something like
  21. do those match the color of the gun? I would like to touch up other dings too, and more in the future as I make them.
  22. the dished out front side of the tappet gives more initial gas volume and therefore more cocking force. think of it like a hemi piston in a car.
  23. I had that problem too. easiest fix is to buy walmart federal for the same $$. I wanted my gun to shoot any ammo I put in it so $35 to KA for this Tappet. It now shoots everything and has just enough compliance parts to legally used with a us made hi cap. So if you aren't switching out your foreend or something, or doing the full conversion, it covers your butt legally too. Also it drops right in in maybe 2 minutes. Just give him a phone call and a visa # and you will be good to go. I got mine in 5 days. As for what makes them different, I don't know too much, but the federal smokes m
  24. Well I just got annoyed enough with mine, that I gave it the AUTHORATATIVE outward tweak that I was afraid to do for fear of over bending or breaking it, and it is much better. I could move it with my finger now. If I could reach anyway, this one won't get the full conversion for a while. I still would like it better with bigger tabs and ambidextrous operation. As for cobra's hymen comparison, some Russian guy did that job for me, and I don't think having a gun come with several dings in the finish from the factory puts me in an elite private club. If it does, then I am a member. You woul
