  1. Thanks, that makes sense. I havent had probelms with my 7.62 with red dot or my 223 with 3x9 scope (both with M4 carbine stocks) but this new sight sits higher. I'll scout out a cheekpeice.
  2. I purchased a trigger group from Dinzag for my unconverted "bubba stocked" 223. I was looking for improved trigger pull for predator control. Once I got the new grop in, I was amazed! Trigger pull is probably 2 or 3 pounds and I had no idea an AK could be so crisp. Another great part(s) from Dinzag!
  3. I purchased an ATN red dot for my 223 tactical conversion because I have heard it was a decent sight for small money. I find that I have to have my head completely up off the stock to see the crosshairs. I know these are designed to keep your head up and both eyes open, but is that the proper shooting style? No cheek weld whatsoever?
  4. Are the Galil mags the same as any other AK mag? Will they work in my SAR3 with no mods?
  5. OK, looks like th Tapco 3 rail made for this mount is the way to go. Ordered it and a foregrip from Cheaper than Dirt.
  6. And so the addiction begins............ Enjoy her!
  7. Thanks for the responses. I ordered the Tapco 3 rail setup designed for this handguard along with a front grip.
  8. Thanks, I'll check it out. Yes, it is a reference to Brownwood TX. I was hunting near there when I 1st started on the internet so it was something I could remember. It Kinda stuck. Great town!
  9. I have seen some pics of these Tapco Saiga handguards with M4 foregirps mounted on them. I would like to mod my handguard with a picatinny rail and an M4 foregrip. can anyone who has done this tell me wher they got their rail?
  10. The safety lever on my Saiga is worn and results in a hair trigger if you try to fire with the safet on and then flip the safety off. Tried to order the extended safety lever from Red Stae Arms, but it is discontinued. Where can I get a new safety lever?
  11. Hey guys, been away for a long while. I converted a 7.62X39 awhile back. My safety lever is worn where it engages the trigger. The result is a hair trigger if you pull the trigger safety on then take the safety off. Seems like someone offered a replacement safety that you could operate with your thumb without taking your hand off the grip. I think they also had a cool receiver mounted peep sight. Can someone direct me to that website, or any other where I can get a hew safety lever and a receiver mounted peep sight?
  12. I have an unfired Saiag 308 for sale with the short barrel. Weapon has not been converted, but has the stock shortened and Comb raised to use the Russian illuminated 6X offset mount sniper scope that is attached. It has 1 8 round mag, 1 modded 10 round mag and 1 20 round modded M14 mag. $450 for entire combo. I will also throw in 100 rds og milspec ammo and 40 rds of soft point ammo. I am in the Dallas TX area and would prefer to sell locally since I dont have digital camera access. Ammo is Australian Defense ball ammo and soft point ammo is Barnual 140 gr soft point. Scope is Russia
  13. Oops, I found the receipt on the 308 Saiga and I paid $269.99 plus tax. Total would actually be $500. It is the short barrel version.
  14. I have a Saiga 308 that has never been fired for sale. I will sell it for exactly what I have in it: I paid $325 for rifle plus 8.25% sales tax. It has a 6x40MM Russian scope that I paid $109 plus tax. I also have a modified 20 RD M14 magazine that I bought off this board for $60 and a factory mag that I bought for $30 The total is $560. I will sell in the Dallas area as I dont have an FFL or digital camera for pics. I have added a raised comb to the stock and done a camo paint job on the stock and the top cover. Otherwise it is as new. I wont sell ot for any less, so dont ask. I also w
  15. I'll see what I can do about some pics. I'm digitally chalenged but maybe my sister inlaw can assist. One final note. I ended up adding a small steel L bracket, trimmed to fit, to the bottom of the stock so that the lower part of the floder contacts it when it locks in place. This prevents the stock from flexing downward when you mount the rifle. Now I actually have to lightly slap the stcio to get it to lock in plave and slap it to unlock, but it is real tight. Again, I'll try to post some pics.
  16. I am in the middle of my 1st Saiga conversion on a 16 barrel 7.62x39. I purchased a Tapco folder from this board and felt it was a little sloppy, a complaint I have heard here before. I tightened mine up considerably using WECSOG methods. Here's what I did: 1. I removed any looseness by adding metal shims held in place by small sheet metal screws. The main offender on my stock was the locking wedge where the stock locks into the butt. A little L shaped piece of metal fixed it nicely. The other offender wasy where the top of the stock does not touch the butt. A small tapped machine s
  17. I am starting my first Saiga conversion and have read the website on how to do this. It suggested using binder posts for hammer and trigger axles. I havent found those yet. Anyone have other solutions?
  18. I have ordered my stock, SAW grip and trigger group to do my 1st Saiga conversion. Where can I get a pistol grip nut? The SAW grip doesnt come with one.
  19. Thanks guys! I very much understand that this is not legal, I just found it interesting. I am going to do a conversion on this gun with US parts, proper feed ramp etc. I'll stick to the 10 rd mag until I do it.
  20. I just picked up a slightly used Saiga 7.62X39 for 200 bucks. It came with 2 AK mags that have been slightly modded to fit. It does not have a bullet guide. The owner said he has had no issues using the mags. Only fired about 300 rounds. Anyone heard of a Saiga feeding without a bullet guide or bump on the mag?
  21. yeah man. thats a cool idea!! i never heard that one before. Cant wait to see some more pics. Let us know how those work out. Gotta love that american ingenuity!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks Yes it does eliminate the need for a feed ramp, and for testing I have put 1300 rounds through the gun the majority was through the mag pictured above, plus I modded another 30 round mag and have no problems with that one. I have had two rounds in the beginning that did not feed directly into the barrel that the bullet sat on the rim of the barrel, fixed that by turning the scr
  22. Looking for a 223 or 7.62X39 Saiga, stock or conversion that I can purchase in the Dallas/Ft worth TX area. Let me know if you have one for sale.
