  1. "Remember, folks, in the bad old days, a thing called the Soviet Union, run by a principle called communism? The AK-47 was at once its tool, its icon, its manifesto. The AK-47 was to the Russian empire what the short sword was to the Roman Empire. It dwelt at the centurion's right hand. It was the cutting edge of a cynical philosophy that disguised conquest under the bogus banner of liberation. It was so simple that even the most undeveloped nations could fabricate it from Russian plans with Russian guidance and a few lathes and stamping machines. You could probably build one in your base
  2. I think the bottom line is, anyone that owns a Saiga and knows of this Forum would buy at least 1 magazine. See if you can't find the number of members on this site, and that will give you an idea of how many you can expect to sell. For everyone member that doesn't buy one, there'll be members that buy 3, 6, 9, or 20. If you get it done, and it works reliably, you'll make your money back in spades.
  3. To make a bigger contribution than laughing at the previous joke, I see a lot of people mention Hitler like he's the only example of gun control-induced tragedy. I realize he's the most infamous, but by only mentioning one, it makes it seem like a fluke. People will say "Oh, Hitler was a bad man and anywhere else gun-control meets with great success." Here's a small list that a very educated friend of mine drafted for such discussions. Now in all these cases, shit probably still would've hit the fan even had people been rightfully armed, but give a man a gun and you give him the freed
  4. ROFLMAO! That's hilarious! I'm gonna have to borrow that one. Thanks BRG3
  5. But seriously. The more, the merrier as long as it doesn't get too rediculously long. And to define "too rediculously long", I would say if it can be shot from prone position, then it's fine.
  6. I'm approaching the 1000round mark. The more I shoot it, the better it gets as it's working its own kinks out. I've put about 100 slugs, about 50buck, about 50 high brass, and about 800 #6-8 loads through. I've had a total of 3x that it didn't properly eject, which just means that I have to rack the slide-the same as if it were a pump. Also, you can feed it ANYTHING and it's happy.
  7. I think I'm going to make it. Cassie would come too (and shoot this time), and Stephanie might join as well. Get some ladies in the competition, maybe once some tube-feeders lose to a gal they'll give up, throw their outdated-gun in the trash, and start searching for Saigas. I'll let you know as the time draws nearer for sure if I'm coming. And this time I'm bringing high brass so that stupid teeter-totter won't make me its bitch.
  8. Sorry, I've been gone a while, but be careful of the stock you show. It looks like the folding Bulgy, which CAN fit, but takes a ton of work, and isn't worth the efforts. It's an expensive stock, it's too short (unless you're <5'5"), it's uncomfortable (unless you want to bother custom molding the k-var grenade launching buttpad to it), and it's a bitch to get on the gun. Not to mention, keeping it folded with the kick of a 12ga is nearly impossible. Just so you know, it's what I have on my gun, and I'm happy with it, but would've been happier with something a bit different. I've not p
  9. gunsamerica.com has a saiga 12 for 425 with 1-5 round magazine and 3 chokes. not too shabby a price
  10. Are you in the market to sell it again? If so, what price? If it's the right price, I'll have a Postal Money Order in the mail tomorrow...
  11. I think it might be time for me to start collecting Saigas...I need a 20ga for the gals, and I could really use another 12ga for myself, not to mention two .223s. Then I could dual-wield two pistol-AKs or two PG 12ga! That'd be a dream come true...firing 9-rounds of reduced recoil buck from each hand, I'd feel like Zeus casting Russian made lightning bolts! Wouldn't hit a damn thing, but as long as I got a good backstop, it'd be fun to try! But seriously, Cobra's right, do your homework and don't make stupid buys, but definately get your hands on what you can now. And if cheaper pri
  12. PS-Did I mention, Buy it now? Because I'd buy it now.
  13. I'd suggest thinking about it this way: Is it worth spending $500 for an S-12? Would you regret it? You may resent that RAA may come through with possibly cheaper Saigas, but would you honestly regret owning the greatest shotgun in the world for only $500? HELL NO you wouldn't. You might've wished that you had gotten it at the lower price, but that's the worst case scenario. You wouldn't regret it. You'd cherish your gun. And you'd have many more months with it to convert, practice, play with it. However, if you don't spend $500, could you regret it? HELL YES. There's no gu
  14. I know next to nothing about the complexity of what you're envisioning, but the one thing I do know is that it'd be so incredibly awesome that it's worth it just for the bragging rights to having done it. So I'm not going to say anything but GO FOR IT! If it works, we'll all see you on the first place podium in every match you ever enter because it's the slow mag changes and the limited rounds that holds any Saiga owner back from beating the best of pumps. So rock out and keep us posted, I would LOVE to see it done, and if nothing else, a Saiga AOW would be pretty sick too. Goodluck
  15. Ok, that makes more sense. Something that can go thru a diesel block engine I would think could still kill at 3' of water. I was forgetting the rediculous amounts of pressure that would be instantly generated. So what about the smaller stuff? I use solid steel core 62gr .223 rounds in my AR. Would that only hurt the ear-drums of someone 3' deep? Or would it do some pressure damage? Or my .45 with 230gr lead bullets? Same issues? I know the .50cal is extreme, but I've not seen in the movies anyone dive underwater to avoid that. Usually it's Uzi's and maybe ARs at the worst. Thanks fo
  16. Did anyone catch the Myth-Busters episode where they tested to see if diving under water, as seen so often in Hollywood, could protect someone from taking fire? From what I heard, the results were amazing! Unfortunately I missed it, and am impatiently awaiting a re-run, but I was told about it and figured I'd see if y'all had any input. The Myth-Busters fired about everything from a musket to a BMG, and the results I still don't believe. They put a target at a 3' depth, and only a solid lead ball from a flintlock punctured the target. Even the BMG failed to puncture the target. App
  17. I don't think any concealed holster is comfortable per say. I'm in shape, but IWB holsters dig in, shoulder holsters only work with certain attire, OWB aren't too concealed, small of the back is a bitch if you have to sit a lot, and ankle holsters only work for pea-shooters. Maybe I've just had bad luck with what I've tried, or maybe my gun is too big to easily carry concealed, I just wish the majority of Americans would chill out and not freak the f*ck out every time they saw a gun. Then I could get a comfy holster and not give a damn if it's seen, but if I do that around these parts, I ge
  18. ROFLMAO...I can definately see one of my female friends that has taken a liking to guns doing the customized stock thing. She's so prissy, so she'd be the type with the blue, pink, green, purple, or whatever stock matched her shoes and purse for the day. I'd laugh my ass off, but then again, a gal with style and a gun, , that'd peak my interest. Though, to be honest, I guess I'm kinda girly in that fashion too. I have my gun bag which matches my tac-vest, two holsters, and two gun belts, all of which match my guns. I even accessorize! My Red-dot accentuates my AR's curves; my triti
  19. I'm going to tag along to this thread...I'm looking for a cheek piece for the bulgarian triangular folder. It's pictured at saiga-12.com/Photo_Gallery.htm but I also included a picture here. Would the ACE cheek piece work? Or is this something different? Any ideas? Thanks!
  20. What's up all? The more I hang around the forum, the more I notice that it's a great environment to just shoot the shit (hehe, corny pun) with the fellows. Additionally, it seems as though competitions are the same way. It's great, I've been to only two competitions and had no F-in clue what I was doing for either, but thankfully fellow Saiga Board members took me under their wing and taught me the ropes, TopMaul even lent me his AR for a 3-gun since I didn't have one yet. I find it rare that people are so willing to share tips, advice, equipment, etc. I didn't have to pretend to be all m
  21. I won't be making any competitions this weekend...I'll either be in Asheville or Toronto, not sure which yet. However, I soon need a three gun competition to scratch my itch. I've finished building my AR, and will have the barrel broken in and the optic zeroed by early August. I also invested in a tac-vest, tac-belt, and tac-thigh holster that I'm most eager to try in action! So this weekend I'll be away, but keep me posted as to what's coming up and you'll see me soon showing up with my beauties (Saiga S-12, AR, H&K USP.45c, and a few gun wielding gals) at the upcoming matches.
  22. Yea, I was hoping to get her to shoot my S12. With the stock I got, it'd be short enough for her to handle, and between the light shot load, the compensators, the blackjack buffer, and the overall gentle nature of the S12 I think anyone could handle it. Look at Eric; he walloped me in the competition, and he's not yet huge by any means. Cassie's never shot before, so she was a bit nervous and didn't want to have people having to wait on her while she slowly went through the stages. She came thinking that she might shoot, but got a bit nervous when she saw the arrangement of guns and s
  23. Was the barrel cut down? If so, to what length? Did the person cutting the barrel down increase the size of the gas ports? Did you clean and lube the $hi+ out of it? Shoot it a lot, and shoot some of the heavier loads, then clean and lube. That'll unseat any dirt in there that you didn't find with a gun patch, and it loosens the springs a little as well as spreading the lube over all the moving parts. Don't worry, it'll work soon, I think most people have issues in the first 50 rounds or so, but after that the dirty little beast will eat anything you feed it. Enjoy! Also, grab a bla
  24. This will get me some negative feedback, but I have to supply my $.02. The Glock is an extremely durable weapon, cheap accessories, cheap magazines, and a good gun. However, it is DOA and doesn't have an external safety. To me, these two issues are HUGE drawbacks. Sure, you can get a ton of trigger work done to reduce overtravel and return, as well as reducing the trigger weight. So then you're left with a short, light, DAO gun that thinks it's a SAO, but without the safety features such a gun should have. I know glocks have "three safeties", including the "trigger" safety, but c
