  1. Ok, so time to show my complete ignorance about gun laws. I really want to go shooting, but am sick to death of outrageous range fees. Is there anywhere one can safely and legally just go shoot nowadays? Can I just wander into the woods with a cardboard target, check what's downrange, and go crazy if it's a good backstop? Do I have to stay on private property with the owner's permission? Where do people go hunting? Is that all on private land? Any advice on this matter would be most appreciated, thanks!
  2. Thanks for all y'all's help thus far, I really do appreciate it. Unfortunately, I'm a big combo of busy and lazy, so hopefully you can forgive me and offer even more help. If not, feel free to call it as it is and say I'm lazy and should look for myself, but what about something like a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 set up for tactical use? They are "long guns", so are they allowed in NYC that you're aware of? Or would they be considered too close to an assault weapon? Thanks for help you can offer, and sorry if my ignorance and laziness is wearing thin on anyone's nerves. It's just easie
  3. We're talking blanks here...what about opening a 3" magnum casing, stripping the buckshot or slug out, removing the wad, patching it up, and firing it on gas setting 2? That's a ton of power, even if it's not spitting anything. Might cycle. Where do we get to see our newest action hero?
  4. I have a friend interested in a home defense gun, but since Saigas are so few and far between, I recommended it but mentioned that they'd never find one. So what else are viable options? Let me clarify that further, viable and affordable options. What my friend is looking for is: 1) Short Barrel 18.5" 2) Night Sights or integrated Flash Light 3) Pistol Grip 4) Some kind of stock so shooting it from the shoulder is possible 5) 12ga with decent capacity (5-10rnds) 6) Reliability If you have any suggestions, please let me know so I can know how to advise. Thanks!
  5. Can you use a drop in trigger? I know that there's a ton of options for the Mauser that are b/t 2.5-4lbs. That'd be a sweet firing gun!
  6. One of my friends is soon moving to NYC and was curious what types of gun-laws were there. Are they super strict? Is concealed carry an option? If so, is it a super-hard option? Thanks for any info!
  7. I have to agree with the above...you bought a Saiga for a trap gun??? That's awesome! Show those snobby bitches what's what. Don't need a $10k Franchi or $15k kregov: just need skills and a gun. Though do be aware, the Saiga is not a trap gun at all. Even with a 22", the sight radius short. Also, you'll piss people off in the lanes beside you when you start tossing casings into them. I have an 18.5" barrel and screw-in chokes, and am able to shoot skeet, trap, and clays with it. I'm only hitting probably about 10/25 on trap, but my gun's not set up for it either. The most cons
  8. What's the latest on the BMG Indy? I think last time you were still trying to get ammo and distances worked out, not to mention the trigger work done. Any changes? Also, is your stock wood? Are there any that aren't wood? Does heat/humidity warp it at all that you can tell?
  9. Shaneman, check out Technical Information to answer the questions about cutting the barrel, CGuns did an AWESOME write up. Next question, what's your main purpose for the gun? If it's tactical matches or home defense, you'd be fine at 18.5" barrel, and once you start adding compensators/tubes/etc. it will easily add 1-3" to overall length. So if you start at 22, and add some goodies, you're up to 25" which is a long F-in' barrel, so I would DEFINATELY consider cutting it by at least 2", if not 3.5" so it's not as unwieldy. However, that said, for trap or hunting I'd really suggest ke
  10. Texas seems nice...lots of room for a BMG. However, I'll still be subject to the socialist trends felt across America. Colonizing another planet sounds tempting. It may get some negative responses, but anyone familiar with Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand? They had the right idea, but we saw from Waco what happens to those that secede. Oh well, Texas does look tempting.
  11. What did you use as a mag-cinch? I think it's about time to do that for me.
  12. Please no Hilary. I'm gonna up and move if she becomes president. Raging socialist that she is, I seriously couldn't stand it. Too bad I don't know of many good places to move to. There's no where left in the world that supports the American Dream or personal responsibility anymore. If anyone knows of one, let me know please.
  13. Let me know what you want to trade, and the legality aspects, and I'll see if I can't aquire it to trade. If nothing else, I'll trade you cash for equipment. That's always a good trade. Please PM me if you get the chance, thanks!
  14. A sad state of affairs. Toronto is a beautiful place, I just got back from a vacation there, but I refuse to live anywhere I can't have my guns and my money. A socialist country completely disarmed sounds like Hell to me.
  15. Where's BlackCreek? Can you enter 2x and shoot pistol and shotty? One can never have too much practice, though the ammo may get expensive after a while. Any news on the next 3-gun? I'm still not sure about this weekend. I have to do 8 hours of driving on Sunday, so an additional 8 on Saturday could be tiring, not to mention gas prices are kickin' my a$$ in. Stupid gas. I'll probably decide around Thursday and will post then.
  16. I've been mostly active on the S-12 threads since that's what I own, but I'm searching hard for an S-20. I have a few questions though before I buy. If y'all can help me out and excuse my ignorance, I'd appreciate whatever advise/answers you can offer. Thanks! 1) Can one safely chop the barrel to 18.5? Would gas ports have to be adjusted? It sounds like the stovepiping is an issue with the ports already being too large if Wally-World rounds don't build up the pressure needed to fully eject casings. Would it be better just to plan on enlarging the ports from the very start? 2) A
  17. I'd listen to EMCLEAN...I don't own the S20 (yet), but I figured it'd have a lighter barrel since it's firing lesser loads. However, I have no idea how much difference this would make in weight, but apparently not much. However, the kick will still be more manageable, so definately S20. Thanks EMCLEAN!
  18. Defiantely Tom. He's awesome! Knowledgable, professional, affordable, friendly, helpful, nothing but positives.
  19. I throw my vote in for the 20Ga. I'm looking for one myself so that I can get my female friends into the sport too. I've had two gals shoot the 12ga and one turn and run before even shouldering it. Only one of them can effectively handle it. It's a heavier gun, with a bit more kick. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 20ga I believe weighs less, thus easier to shoulder, and has much less kick. The .410 is really too small IMO for novices to use effectively for hunting or skeet. The 20ga will spray a lot more lead, which will make the sport eaiser to learn, and once learned then I beli
  20. I can speak positively for Dave at Elite too. My gun from him is a dream, but getting in touch with him can be frustrating, and it can take some time for the project to be completed. However, if you have the patience, you will get everything you could want. So send him your gun/money, and start a new project in the meantime so you don't get anxious, but have faith: it will be worth it.
  21. Thanks for the heads up Cobra. As soon as I learned of the S20 I dropped everything, and broke the sound barrier getting to the show. Unfortunately, I got there and it was sold about 20 minutes before I arrived. Oh well. I'll keep my eyes open, but thanks again for keepin' me in mind. Have a great one!
  22. The Kahr is also an AWESOME gun for a gal. I have the P-3AT and I had a helluva time with mine. Kept jamming, I kept lip wristing it, I wanted better aiming abilities, etc. I got the P-sight, which helps a ton with aiming, I got the Hogue Jr. slip-on ergo grip and limp wristing stopped, and I learned that it jammed only with none-domed bullets. Those flat-headed Winchesters jam 9/10 shots, but the domed Remingtons are fine, as are Federal Hollowpoints. I've heard a lot about the magazine falling out, luckily I've never had it happen to me. You may try the Hogue. It can be used to slight
  23. If you can't hit a man sized target from 50 feet or less with shot without first taking careful aim then you probably need to plan an escape route and hope for an ambush if they follow. I second that. That's why I don't understand the need for the super-high cap pistols people brag about. My shotgun and my pistol are 8+1, loaded with either .45ACP fragmenting ammo or 12ga 9-pellet 00-buck. Once I'm through those first 9 rounds, if I'm still in trouble I'm gonna reload and run like hell. My plan is just to keep zig-zagging, and unless they're really fast or a darn good shot, they won
  24. Did somebody say 3-gun? Any details on that yet? I'm dying to get a chance to try my new AR. But I'm still in the mood to kick the living crap out of the tallywacker, so I'll probably try to make both.
  25. Well...nevermind on the little lady shooting. Took her to the range last night to get her used to the 12-gauge. Two shots later, she decided that it's more fun to watch then shoot...I guess I need to start looking into getting a 20ga if I wanna make tac-matches a dating function. What's sad is that Saigas are gentle in comparison to any other gun I've shot. Mine has the compensator up front, buffer internally, gas system to dissipate recoil, and the g-launching butt-pad from K-var. The combo doesn't even leave a bruise on me any more shooting ~25 slugs. Oh well. I'll keep my fingers cro
