  1. Upon further inspection of the shotgun it is the 3in only model and has one big gas port in the gas block. The gas plug has two notches in it but its only one setting. I'm going to take it to thru range hopefully.in the next couple weeks and will give a range report of it. It seems as though the shotgun was made in 95 but imported in 99.
  2. Hi all, I have a 7.62x39 saiga I have already converted and just picked up a saiga 410. Like the title says its a 1999 model with the 2 settings gas plug. I picked it up for $220 than did the conversion right away. Since I live in NY I had to use a thumbhole stock. First question is since it has a thumbhole and I only have one factory 4 round mag does 922r come into play?. Second question is there anything I should know about the older models that differ from the newer ones. PS my 410 has external treads but no bolt hold open, there isn't the milled slot to even have one. Thanks everyone in ad
  3. Congrats and at a great price too. I always shoot steal case ammo through mine with no problems. Have fun with your new obsession.
  4. Hi all, I'm out in the middle of no where in mn and brought the saiga. My friends ak was acting up and he shot 150 rounds 5 30rd mags rapid fore only to stop to change mags to check how many problems he would have. I got jealous seeing him shoot all those rounds off so I loaded up 5 mags and did it myself. My wood handguard started smoking (they are a little shorter now because my lhg retainer burned some of the wood off the ends) and the barrel paint grayed (back to original color now). My question is how many rounds have you guys cooked off rapid fire without stop other than to change mags,
  5. I have this item and it is fantastic and very clean looking on the rifle. I just used an Allen head screw that very tight got and I cut Allen wrench I put in the cleaning kit in my buttstock. Highly recommend.
  6. I have that lhg retainer and it is extremely high quality. I had a Chinese one I dremeled to work with my saiga, but the one in your link is light years better. I highly recommend that retainer.
  7. I notched my barrel too and have 1k rounds through it with the hg and no movement whatsoever. I have romy wood that I refinished merlet red on my saiga and it looks great
  8. What kind of lhg retainer is that, it looks like the one I'm sporting too?
  9. Loctite after drill and tap over 3000 rounds no movement at all.
  10. I had a regular ak non saiga specific rail on my saiga before I put wood on it. You can see this rail on my avatar. It will fit a saiga with just an akm gas tube with no need for a LHG retainer. The rail system works with a clamp system. The top rail screws on the lower rail and tightens until secure on the rifle. If I remember correctly the Yugoslav one will be a little bigger in barrel diameter you should go with one that works on regular akm's.
  11. I got a romanain wood set up now. I know that this wood would be considered far from top of the line but with a nice refinish it looks pretty good. The reason why I went the route I did is because I didnt want to worry about dings and scratches on my $100 + wood set. My Siaga with the romanain wood furniture is presentable, cheap, and who gives a shit if you fuck up a romanain wood set. Just my thought.
  12. I live in NY so I have to have preban mags too. None of mine have any stamps on them or any markings indicating a date. They are commy steel mags and those are the only kind I see in NY that are Preban. The mags in the link are the same kind I have, steel comm block mags. Even if I lived in a "free state" I would buy these mags anyway, and maybe a couple circle 10's. Very good strong relaible mags the comm steel blocks are.
  13. I have used e clips for a little over 1000 rounds no problems so far. I did notice though the original wire, cut, will be a lot easer to take the fcg out than the e clips. Either way can't go wrong.
  14. Nice shooting, the accuracy of the saiga is no myth here.
  15. it will work look to the left of my post the little picture of my saiga. Thats a utg ak quadrail, i cut off the top rail to be flush with the bottom. No need for a retainer just get a new gas tube with a retainer in it (a regular ak gastube), the utg quad rail is a clamp on style. i like it alot
