  1. I had the same thing happen to my 7.62.. I don't know if this will work for you.. But I J.B. Weld it in place.. If you are going to try this. You will need a 2in C-clamp as well.. But I used a dremel to rough up the surface under the bullet guide and around the broken tap.. Then I use brake parts cleaner to degrease the area and a can of Air to blow away the metal dust. (use computer can air because air hose can some time have water or oil in the line.) Then I mix up a 50/50 of J.B. Weld put some on the spot where the tap broke and under the guide. I just installed mine a couple weeks ago and was thinking the same thing on filing down the front edge, Havent found anyone who says this is a bad idea, cant see how it could be but i'm no expert. I had trouble with soft point and hollow point getting stuck on the guide not all but most with the Romainian mags i was using, however, the Saiga Surefire mags seem to still work and had no problem with the SP and HP rounds.
  3. I went from being content with adding a Pistol grip and 30 rd surefire mags with stock set up to full conversion, only thing left is a scope and a threaded FSB so I can add the cleaning rod, bayonet and muzzle break.
  4. just installed the dinzag bullet guide today Definately recommend the drill press, i picked one up at sears for $120.00 when i started my conversion, make sure you get a good centered divot, even with the drill press my first hole was a bit off when i removed the trigger guard becuase i didnt get a deep enough divot . if you havent done the pistol grip conversion yet, it makes that a breeze so by the time you get the bullet guide, you'll have the starter punch and drilling down, I found tapping the hole much more difficult because i broke the tap, but was also able break it apart with my s
