  1. I have a KOBRA EKP-1S-03M on my WASR and it's great. I picked mine up from Doug at Tantal's. At the time he had the best price, and as a distributor, provides a 1 year warranty dirrect. The AA battery on the new model has plenty of life and is easy to find for replacement batteries. Also has several sight picture choices and brightnesses (sp?).
  2. Steve, or anyone-how much different are they? I have a Mig welder, small mill, and lots of tools........By the chance that the 7.62 won't work, does it look like a part that I can weld up and reshape? Also, since my Saiga doesn't have one, will it require much modification to install? Mark
  3. Thanks, that's the answer I was looking for.........Still looking for a reason why they flare the end on an IC choke?
  4. I have someone willing to sell me a BHO out of a 7.62, are they the same as the 12?
  5. If anyone has a bolt hold open (BHO) that you don't want or need, please contact me. killerbombo@aol.com I'm getting ready to do a Saiga 12 conversion on a shotgun that didn't come with one and wanted to give it a shot. If you want a few extra bucks for a part your not using give me a shout. Mark
  6. So, what's the purpose of openingup the mouth of the barrel, especially on a 22" model. Seems like an oxy moron. Also, thank's for the link. After pricing the ream and the tap it wouldn't be very cost effective for what will probably be a one time deal. I'm still waiting on an explination on the stimpcatch.
  7. Seems that everyone is killing each other over 8 round mags these days. I don't have a specific need for 8, so where can I get more 5 rounders at a decent price? Mark
  8. New to Saiga 12's and shotguns in general. After reading some posts I have a few questions on totally unrelated items. As a mechanic and avid tinker, the post on the Stimpcatch project cought my eye. Just what is a stimpcatch and what does it do. What is the problem your trying to work out with the project. Second, what does the term IC choke refer to. The 12 I picked up has a 22" barrel and tapers out (gets larger in diameter) on the last few inches. (Not threaded) Last, I want to take the barrel down to 18 1/2" and install a choke. I still have to check the opening in my lathe,
  9. Freakin mag horder. Now I know why the market dried up. Why don't you sell a few of those and buy yourself a new car....... Just messing with you, except for the new car thing... what are 8 rounders up to now, $80+.
  10. The more I see it, the more I like it. Does the front Rhino grip cause any problems with mag changes? I've seen post stating that it can cause problems, but I think they were related to standard AK's, seems to be ample room on the 12.
  11. I ordered mine from Military Gun Supply. New $315, had 18 1/2" barrel w/ no choke so they may have shortened. They also offer converted 12's for around $600 I thought the price was a little on the high side, but it was available and had the short barrel that I wanted. Update-MGS are pricks. My Saiga came in. New unissued 22", not 18 1/2". When I called them on it they told me it was a mistake and that they weren't selling them without conversion done. This is after I had called them twice to make sure about the 18 1/2" length and the fact that they are listed on their web site. They did o
  12. Springs-Do a search on the net for manufacturers. Get in contact with them and tell them what you need, they might have something you can cut to the proper length. Here is a link for a spring I needed for a paintball gun project that I built, the spring in the link isn't what your looking for, but it will get you to Smally Spring and give you an idea of how much is available if you go looking. If I get some time I'll try to check around. http://www.smalley.com/SpringProperties.asp?PartNbr=C100-M1

  14. I'm usually not a fan of AR stuff on AK's, but that does look sweet. I'm used to the KOBRA and a few other generics that mount up 180 deg from how the Halo is pictured. How does the Halo deal with shooting in full daylight?
  15. I'd go 2 @ $50ea after reading some independant reviews on quality and function. Some high res pictures would go a long way for determining basic quality. My brother in law (passed away) was the shop foreman for our Browning plant made custom stuff (including high capacity 45acp mags) for some of his Secret Service buddy's. They looked fresh from the factory, so I know if you have the right equipment and skills to pull it off that it can be done, unfortunately at this point your just a name on the net. You might want to target some of the more reputable people on the boards to test your prod
