  1. That's a real bitch, I always enjoyed contributing and thought they were better than that. One of the best things we do (but it doesn't do anything for the guys that get hurt) is send care packages to those on deployment. I get sick of people with their hands out, but all these guys deserve whatever we can do to help...I'd like to hear Fifty's views on what works.
  2. FWIW, most decent suppressed rifles are going to put you at or over 16"' In a few cases you could go with a Integrally Suppressed Rifle with a barrel at or over 16" that's serviceable and get away with one stamp but lets face it, sometimes a big fireball is fun too! If you haven't done it before, the whole stamp thing sounds worse than it really is and right now it's been posted that wait times aren't as horrible as they have been. In my area CLEO signs off in less than 48hrs, drop the forms off and typically pick up the next day. ATF cashed my checks almost as soon as it was in their hand (
  3. How the hell do they know what the purchase price was? Are they wanting a receipt? The one I own was part of a build out I purchased from CMMG years ago, I still have the box it came in but I'm not sure if the invoice from CMMG breaks things down.
  4. ^^^See, one old dog tought another old dog a new trick. I was off today and took an old buddy out for lunch and a few beers-I'm way less pissed right now and won't be working on firearms for a bit!
  5. Sorry Sim, it's never easy to loose a good friend. My youngest daughter is currently in school to become a Vet Tech, lots of good dogs out there in need of a friend like you.
  6. Some good points are coming out that I typically don't think about, I've never ran across turning the gauge but it can't hurt. On a ORF receiver Galil build I did find issues with the bolt lug surface of the receiver. On that build with a stripped bolt out of the carrier, you could visually see the tail of the bolt cocked at an angle when locked into battery and required lapping the lugs. That was a good case for the use of Dykem on the lugs to verify proper contact. That's not a step I typically take, but once again, it's simple and can give you a visual to show the lugs are contacting evenly
  7. I'd like someone to post up what the proper way to headspace an AK is. I really didn't see any issue with the video (stripped bolt, gauge and live round for go, and gauge for no go). He did seem a bit rough when checking with the gauges, but it closed with little effort on the live round. Most of my kit builds were parts matching factory barrel, a few were not. I've always used a stripped bolt and Manson CIP and several brands of cases with pulled bullets for Go, and Manson CIP for No Go and Field. I've always read that SAAMI gauges (US spec) were tighter to close on which leads me to believe
  8. What was the issue and was it with "all" or "certain" models? Interesting to say the least.
  9. Any idea on what brands? Looked pretty generic in the pictures.
  10. From what you've shared in the past, she's worked hard for it for quite some time. Always good to hear stories of hard work and perseverance paying off. Congrats to your family.
  11. There's a show called "What would you do" with John Quinones that puts everyday people in situations quite like yourself mancat that's well worth watching. As far as I'm concerned, you took the high road and made an attempt to do the right thing in a world of unstable jackasses. I'm going to share part of a story below that recently happened just miles from where I live. It hit home a bit hard as I have two daughters about the same age group and years apart as the ones in the story. Road Rage for 8 miles in a populated area against two young girls. If one brave person could have intervened it
  12. I didn't watch the video and after initially hearing the story my thought was that the cop fucked up from the 5 second news clip I did see. Unless you know what happened, start to finish it's just an opinion. I can say my brother had 33 years on the force before he retired and PCP is a bad deal. Several stories about someone on the drug taking on multiple people with pepper spray and tasers not having much effect. Another story dealing with the use of an ASP (he preferred a baton) was that he trained to break bones with a single hit and put an end to the situation quickly. Multiple hits are ea
  13. Dad was part of the force that liberated Dachau concentration camp...he didn't talk about it much but I can only hope "what goes around, comes around" in the after life.
  14. Welcome to the beginning of WW3 and Obama's third term. I was wondering how the prick was going to pull it off Drag us in with NATO and the stage is set.
  15. I thought the whole thing was stupid as it call out "The paperwork reduction act", then has redundant b.s. involved. I guess it's time to start reading about e filing.
  16. It's been a few years and I don't remember if you attach two copies of page 3 that contain line 17 Method of payment (technically a second page since 1 and 2 are front and back)? I'm sending a check, so it's a full page of paper with one check mark in the box (check enclosed). Also, one page or duplicates of the UNITED STATES CITIZEN self certification form (Which is one of the dumbest parts of the whole process considering they already ask the question on the Form 1).
  17. I never thought about this until now, but if I ever plan to nitride, it sounds like it might not be a bad idea to populate the barrel and headspace before sending in to have it treated. Or populate, tear down, and reassemble after the process is completed. Good stuff in this thread.
  18. elvis christ , I just wanted to say thanks for being part of the solution. As much as I hate the thought of our countries need to arm our citizens like Israel, this is the world we live in today. Thanks for doing your part to educate and change the sheeple mind set. An unarmed American is just a living target these days and I don't see that changing any time soon.
  19. Trump's getting slammed for pointing out that France has one of the worlds strongest gun control laws!!! Media is in disbelief. Free fire zones= lambs to the slaughter. When are they going to wake up and realize that firearms aren't that complicated and the bad guys will always have access. If I can build an AK in my basement from cobbed parts kits, an organized group will have no problem smuggling in bits and pieces and reassembling them with little effort or tooling (if not completely intact). The genie's way out of the bottle and he's not going back in. The left in this country better wake
  20. There's definitely a lot to consider. I've been reading all the NFA forums until my eye's bleed and I have a handful of Law offices that I've talked with (all seem to have free first time consultation). Approval time is always a waiting game, so there's no reason to rush and my wife has family members that own Dowd & Dowd P.C. that I'll be seeing for the holiday. Gun law isn't their thing but I'm sure they can point me to a firm they feel comfortable with. I just wanted to say thanks for all your comments and information you've shared. In my area with the first two guns it was so simple an
  21. This is a completely new route to me, I've created an account on the Mo SoS site and have been reading the form. Missouri is a one time fee of $50 to file on line and can be set to last indefinitely with no need for renewal. I'm not clear if I can list multiple people on the LLC (wife/kids), and I also thought it could be passed down indefinitely (once again, not clear on that yet). One of the things that concerned me with a trust for NFA was that it was challenged twice in the last year and didn't fail by a wide margin and I don't know what the outcome would have been had it passed (revocatio
  22. Well, lets just say after recovering from a post AWB ban sell off to buy my first house with a wife and kids, I got a little carried away with the new collection now that the house is paid for and the kids are grown. I find that a lot of things I own have become more of a collection and less of something I take out and enjoy. Also, the safe is like a game of pick up sticks trying to get things out. I think I'm at a point that for the ones that aren't being taken out and enjoyed, it might be time to part company. I wish I would have gotten into the FA game early in life, price points are reall
  23. Happy Birthday Old Gal, Hope it was a good one. If you still follow the Cup Series, who's your pick for Homestead this year (better not be Joey )
  24. Probably should have posted in the NFA section, but general gets more traffic. I just purchased a suppressor and plan on SBRing the gun it's intended for. I live in Missouri, own two other SBR's on Form 1's. My original intent was to just do my usual form 1 on the gun and form 4 on the suppressor as I've never had LEO issues but ATF approval seems a bit longer for form 1's. To the point, my dealer does a lot of NFA stuff and in the busy shop we had a short discussion about me forming a LLC for the sole purpose of NFA items and he let me use his pc to check out the web page. From what I
  25. Is anyone versed on where Kalashnikov USA is on releasing products and what their price point will be. I find myself looking at the contents of my safe in terms of the Saiga's that I own and wondering "Is now the time to sell some things off"? Right now, with the Saiga ban and possible end of WASR's hitting the market for a period of time, sell prices are decent, once Kalashnikov USA gets in full swing, depending on what their price point is, might it de-value our Saiga holdings. I'm slowly moving toward more NFA stuff, and I can't help but think that it may be time to clear some room in the ro
