  1. I'm happy for you, new guy (girl?). Seriously I am. That's pretty much what I thought when I first got mine. I suggest you either order your new forend now (it will fracture at the tabs) or sell your new toy and save your pennies for an M-1A as I am now doing. Good Luck and stay safe!
  2. Hey Chips - read my posting (it's one of the earliest in this forum) regarding the broken forend and the hoops jumped through to get a replacement. I'll keep this Saiga until the forend breaks again and then try to sell it. It just looks like a really poor design and we as consumers shouldn't be forced to screw around with drilling, tapping, epoxying etc. I know the cost of an M-1A could buy about 4 Saigas but I'm still wondering if I made a mistake by not saving my pennies...good luck and stay safe!

Hey Chips! Welcome! Go to the beginning part of the Forum and look for my entry; same thing happened to me. The replacement they sent wasn't made for the .308 but by then I was so exasperated from the runaround I was getting I whipped out the handy Dremel and made it work. Like I said earlier, I should've saved my $$ and gotten the M-1A....
  4. Good luck dealing with those people! If my experience with just getting them to break loose with a defective forend was any barometer, you should be shooting again by Xmas - in 2004! I'm saving up for the M-14 I should,ve bought in the first place.
  5. Great forum; new member! Last summer got a Saiga with 16" bbl. and black synthetic forend; after the 2nd magazine the forend fell off! It had fractured right at the screw into 3 pieces. My gunshop guy with whom I've dealt a long time and is eminently fair went around and around with the Florida people for 6 months. He finally got themto break loose with a different forend that we made fit. Mad Smiley! Now the good Smiley stuff - very accurate at 50 with factory stuff; I haven't concocted my own stuff yet. Any suggestions? Also, I bought a side mount scope bracket; what's a decent scope for
