Got a GSG5-SD? Its ILLEGAL.
massaiga replied to camon's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I'm not saying that what the ATF did or the ruling they made was proper. I was only attempting to explain what they did. The conundrum the ATF found themselves in was that the idiot in question did not modify the can in any way. Only the barrel of the GSG5 had been modified. Without the can the GSG5 was just a rifle with a ported barrel. Only when the can is added is there any sound suppression. It was the expansion chamber of the can which was the critical ingredient to make a real suppressor. If the can in its unmodified form provided sound suppression capabilities to an otherwise perfec -

1) An idiot realizes that if you extensively ported the GSG 5 barrel underneath the fake can it would port into the can. 2) This idiot owns a drill press 3) This idiot owns a GSG 5 4) This idiot knows how to post a video to YouTube Result? 5) ATF watches video of a suppressed GSG 5 on YouTube and get their panties in a bunch. They confiscate the weapon and examine it. They realize that a ported barrel does not make a suppressor and they could not enforce a ruling like that anyway. But there is clearly a suppressor there somewhere and they really want to send this idiot to a PITA Fed -
There was an identical thread to this a few months back in the S-12 section. The general consensus was that it was a left over from the tumbling process and that it was pretty unbelievable that the weapon still functioned without you even knowing something was wrong. ...But that is why we all love the AK platform. Try putting that stone inside the receiver of an AR and see what happens. :lolol: -MS

I have '08 S-12 with three gas ports. It is under gassed. Out of the box it ate buck and slugs with 100% reliability but bird shot would tend to FTE and stovepipe 10%-20% of the time - at least one per mag. I broke it in with 300 rounds of 00 buck but it was still having issues with bird shot so I am fairly sure that this is not a break in issue. I considered polishing the bolt and carrier but ultimately I decided to fix the problem by swapping out the recoil spring with a reduced power recoil spring. Since I did this it eats everything I feed it with 100% reliability. For Christmas I

LOL... You had me worried there for a sec. Living in MA you practically need a law degree to keep all the laws strait. I make it a point to keep myself informed but it is always possible to f-up. When I saw your post I thought about the pre-ban 40rd mags sitting in my safe and thought "WHAT!?!?" -MS

What law (Federal or MGL or asinine pronouncements from the MA AG) makes you think this? This would be a new one on me. I believe that the law is that EVERYTHING must be 10rds or less unless the magazine or feeding device is pre-ban. If the Mag or feeding device is pre-ban it can be as big as you want. This is one of the primary reasons to buy a AK in 7.62x39. I can walk into any number of shops and buy pre-ban mil surplus AK mags off the shelf. This is not the case for any other caliber AK. -MS

The SGL21 is no-go, as it has a bayo-lug/accessible threads/flash hider. If you want a pistol grip you cannot have a threaded barrel, flash hider or a bayo lug. To my knowledge there are no gun smiths in MA that will do a conversion for you. If you really want to just buy something go check out these two shops: Four Seasons Firearms Collector's Gallery Firearms Both of those shops will have MA legal pre and post ban AKs wich I think you will be happy with. North Shore Firearms had a good supply of pre-ban mil surp 30rd AK mags last time I was in there. -MS

In fact the girl who rang it up gave the price that rang up a confused look for a fraction of a second and then shrugged her shoulders. She could not have cared less. To be fair however what the random minimum wage employee working the checkout thinks is hardly representative of what Walmart as an organization thinks and in turn what either of them think is not a factor in my decision on whether my actions were moral or not.

With a retort like that you would never understand anything to do with honor anyway. Evil corporate my ass. If it had been the mom and pop grocer you would of acted different? I have read reviews on that scope on other boards and they have been generally very favorable. Congratulations on your steal. Yes I would have acted differently in just about any other retailer. Thank you for making assumptions about my honor. Such assumptions make it very simple to know who has an opinion worth listening to. I have strong convictions about Walmart. I boycott the vast majority of products

I believe you are stating that you feel that buying a rifle scope from Walmart for $.69 demonstrates a low level of moral character on my part but you are unwilling or unable to state as such clearly. I will happily debate the morality of beating an evil corporate monster at their own game but I doubt that you are interested in real public debate. In the past I have see you comment on hostile aggressive comments by board members. My dad used to say that you could tell a lot about someone based on their assumptions of their fellow human beings. Please go jack some other thread with hostile

Yeah... as I said I was expecting a piece of crap. After getting home and getting it out of the package I decided I got the deal of the year. I went back to Walmart the next day with the intent of buying one for every long gun I own plus a few more... but alas they had discovered their error and corrected the price. Even so... I will likely buy another the next time I need a scope. The quality difference between this and a several hundred dollar scope is VERY minor. I will happily buy another for the full $69 but right now I do not need another scope.

The Walmart in my area frequently has so great deals on firearm accessories such as cleaning supplies and ammo. For this reason I tend to be there regularly and I often browse through their shooting supplies. For quite a while Walmart has been stocking a selection of Centerpoint brand rifle scopes ranging in size and features from "toy" to "looks cool but I bet it is a piece of crap". I regardless often found myself wondering how the upper-end Centerpoint scopes would fare at the range or in the field because based on the price and features they looked to be an incredible value. Well recen

If we are going to put people to death I support the executions being public. Society need to understand the consequences of its laws. Executing people in back rooms behind closed doors sweeps it under the rug. It would be a great deterrent. Executing people in back rooms behind closed doors sweeps it under the rug and does not strike fear into the hearts of criminals the way capital punishment should. ... But we have a very fucked up judicial system that is both flawed and corrupt. Poor and innocent people go to jail every day. Rich and guilty people walk free every day. At the p
