  1. I can take a pic on the other side...im currently out of town but when i return i will...it has an X with a metal pin thru it and a Y with a metal pin thru it.
  2. Yeah, dimples with the Y...got some up close pics in the dimples thread...not the greatest pics but i tried.
  3. Took the new Saiga 7.62 for a spin yesterday! Whooohooo! I like alot. I put 40 rounds of Silver Bear thru it with the factory 10 round magazine It was throwing the casings like 20 feet and it was loud. I forgot my ear plugs. That's why I only put 40 rounds thru it. I wasnt testing for accuracy I just wanted to shoot it so I took aim at a target down in the gully and let her rip. The recoil was hardly nothing, for me anyways. I'm pretty dumb and most things that bother other people dont faze me. Anyways Just wanted to post and tell about my experience. Still planning on the conversion but fund
  4. I was wondering if it would be worth it or not, I guess after reading a couple of threads on here a few ppl have had trouble installing the BG, just didn't want to mess anything up....but thats alot of savings on the mags.....guess i will give it a shot...BHO added to list
  5. Did you do the conversion on your?..and add the BHO yourself
  6. Putting together my parts list for conversion. Is the BG necesary to do if I only use factory magazines and the surefire mags? Will there be feeding issues with these two type of mags if I don't do the BG?
  7. Dude, I like that handguard....I'm gonna be starting my own conversion soon...i wanna fixed butt stock but i would like a handguard like yours minus the foregrip. Did you have to do any modifactions up front for that handguard or do you just take the factory one off and put the new one on?....I basically wanna do the Tapco conversion but add that cool handguard you have.
  8. I like it. Went out this evening looking for a Saiga 12 and ended up bringing a Saiga 7.62x39 home. I think this is exactly what I want to do to mine for starters anyways. If you don't mind me asking how much cash do you have in your restoration? Just trying to set my budget for this. And how much time did it involve? Time wise is probably around 5 hours or so. I could do it faster if I did it again. With shipping and parts around $110 in parts. This is the least expensive conversion one can do or close to it. I did get out and shoot it today for the first time since the conversion. It
  9. Ok here are some not so great pics. Mine pretty much resembles the one a few posts above...looks like born on date of 1-29-09 It definately has dimples...and under the two symbols on the front lower right it has mk103 and the date, some kind of cryllic on right front upper part also...hopefully y'all can see this Guess I will have to take the dust cover off to see if there is a PG hole
  10. Check with Millennium Custom (www.mcguns.com). I took 20 brand new Saiga 12 Shotguns and went thru them, speced out the gas ports, recoil system, installed JT Engineering Main/Hammer Springs and made sure every one of these guns would run out of the box. They are guaranteed to run on Walmart Federal Bulk Shotshells. I am currently in Louisiana testing and training. Will be back in Florida next Tuesday if you want to get with me. Regards, Jack Travers JT Engineering I'm sure that your guns are high quality work....but they are a little out of my price range but for a
  11. Man, I just paid $375 out the door for one today. Guess I didn't do as good as I thought. Just curious how much is shipping from there?

  13. Thanks to everyone for all the great information, I got out this evening to go look at a few S12's. Saw them priced from $499-$599 in three different shops. Anyways to make a long story short I left the last shop I visited with a Saiga 7.62x39. Haven't read about as many issues with these rifles. It was at a great price I thought $375 out the door and 20 minutes from my house. I'm still planning on getting a Saiga 12 and speaking with the guys at CWG seems that may be the way to go. Again thanks for all the great replies.
