  1. I just got some parts for pretty cheap for my AK. I got a rear HK sight from a HK91 for $20 so i got two of them. I also got a West German AK-74 Muzzle brake for $60. I have a threading kit but for smaller piping so i dont think i'll have the right die for the barrel. How much should i expect to pa for the barrel threading? I'm starting to wonder if i even want it anymore since it doesnt seem like a big need for it. I also want to mount the HK sight on the rear cover. Is this a bad idea? i just cant stand the stock iron sights or sight radius. Thanks guys!
  2. I'm going to the gun show this weekend and hoping to find some a Saiga in .308 or 12ga. I just got some gear from a freind who passed away who had a surplus of REAL 5.45x39mm flash hiders and HK rear sights. I want to put them to use, that or just sell them.
  3. I know not all guns are the same, but my Bulgy Circle 10's work fine in my gun without the BG. I did file the required pieces to make the C10's fit just as smooth as the stock ones. My first couple times using it i probably had 4 rounds get jammed but they would still feed if i pulled the chargiing handle back and did it again. After that first visit i haven't had any problems. Everybody else may differ, however i still intend to get a BG one of these days.
  4. i can send you mine. I have no need for it in my rifle. i took it out when i did the conversion and din't bother to put it back in due to lack of need. PM me...
  5. silver bear/brown bear works best out of the russian animal manufactuers IMO. i was getting 2.5-3MOA witht heir 62gr FMJ. i also like the Golden tiger(56g FMJBT) i just picked up for 25.8 cent per round but than saw silver bear for cheaper . Theres plenty of good ammo out there it just if you want to throw the money at it.
  6. I just recently bought a BSA multi reticle holosight on sale at midway for around $60 shipped. At first i thought it wasnt going to be that nice because of the price. low and behold the holosight is really a class piece and mimics higher priced holo's. i was surprised at how clear the lens is, not to mention its all metal construction and lightweight. The four different reticles is also good (you can get dot's instead). I have that with a panzerfaust 44 anti tank scope with rangefinder capabilities. To me its perfect for the Saiga, but everyone has their own opinion whats right for them.
  7. I like using JB Putty. I've used it to bed rifles and comes out hard and sands nice and smooth.
  8. +1 for the guys at Peach state the shipping took 3 days and everything was very smooth. Not to mention nice people on thephone.
  9. Looks real good!! It looks much different than others i have seen.
  10. Thank you for your replies! I had seen the post by heron which made me change my original idea of how i was going to attempt this project. Tritium that is a beautiful s-308 I'm sorry for not stating this earlier but when i meant free-float i meant the space in between the two spots that contact the handguard. What i intend to do is make these a pressure bed and allow more space to contact those pieces smoothly. As long as i can keep those two spots in contact with the handguard i think it would help improve accuracy by making consistent harmonics. I just hope to make it as consistent
  11. I've been thinking about trying to accurize my Ak a little bit. Many of you would call me crazy for attemtping to do it but i just intend to make the barrel sit better in the forearm. After much thinking i know there is no reason at all to try and free float the barrel. The barrel is held onto by the front sight block right in front of the chamber, also the gas piston tube. Theres a piece that allows them to touch the forearm but do a very crummy job at doing it Since there is a lot of slop in between the space between the barrel and these pressure point i would think that would c

    New conversion

Saiga after PG & FCG conversion along with 30rd mags.
  13. You will really enjoy the ERGO grip...I love mine and it feels much nicer than just a hard plastic PG...I also got the pistol grip, not the classic grip...Enjoy your Saiga, ever since i got mine its my new favorite..
  14. I noticied that on my saiga i had to raise the mag catch. This link http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/step_10.htm helped me realize what needed to be modded in order to fit other mags. However the Bulgy only had to be filed on that one section slightly, just make sure to keep the angle. My snapped in like the stock mags after.
  15. thanks, I shot the gun today and it handles nicely with the pistol grip. The overmold type coating feels good in my hands and actually kinda surprised me with how well it fit a lefty. It was probably the best thing i've done for the gun in terms of overall feel. I went with the slanted style over another grip type they have which is straighter mainly due to the fact of how short the gun is. I just wanted to let everyone know that i went back and used the stock buttstock. Even though its not as aestheticly pleasing it fits much better now and feels very comfortable and should shoot
