Everyone complains about all sorts of scope mounts on rifles. I had one of those dusty cover mounts. Uhh yea I won't do that again lol. For one, it was so high I couldn't even get on the paper at 25-100 yards. I bought a side mount setup in hopes of fixing this issue. With all the comments I've read about the mount coming loose, would loctite solve this? I use loctite for my race cars and even after collisions the parts don't come loose. Anyone ever loctite the mount bolts and have luck with it holding zero?

I only went with this particular mount because I was still new with AKs so I wanted to be able to learn using the iron sights, then tune the scope. But it may just not be possible with this mount setup. I was hoping to be able to use both but that may just not be an option. I'm considering just taking the scope mount off and selling it, and putting the cheapo scope on something else. If you have pics of your low profile scope setup let us know what brand it is and share some highly informative pictures.

Thanks for the advice, I can't argue with any of it. Do you think those lasers will even work outdoors at 100 yds? I have my doubts if the lasers are cheap. But I've never seen one used so I wasn't sure. You can get them on the bay for $25 shipped. Couldn't hurt to try it. I can always sell it later. Thanks!

I finally found a range that would let me shoot a 7.62 round. With the iron sights I was at least on the paper from 125 yards, and in a 6" group at 50 yards. It's hardly noteworthy but this was my first time shooting a rifle, and I need some glasses BAD. But the point here is I installed THIS leapers scope mount and THIS cheapo scope. The scope is mounted pretty high off the barrel. I dailed the scope all the way down, and at 25 yds the closest I could get was 7" high and 3" right. My guess is this will need shimmed to get it in the ball park. I'll post pics tonight. This brings me to my q

Thanks for al lthe info folks! This might be a silly question, but when looking at AK specific parts will they all bolt right up to Saigas? Afterall the receivers are Kalishnikov but I wasn't sure if all the bolt holes exist where these mount or if I will be required to do any drilling/tapping. The kits out there dont mention anything about this so I would assume they fit out of the box. But we all know what happens when you ASSUME. Cheaper Than Dirt has these 2: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS006-6.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS020-6.html Most of the reviews were go

Scope Side Mount CDNN has these for $30. I want the ability to keep my stock iron sights and still have the scope. If I'm out in the boonies and break a scope, for whatever reason, I'd want to be able to still use the sights. I wasn't sure if this sidemount style would work or not. They claim its detachable with just a lever but it requires the rifle to have a "side rail base". Not sure what that terminology means, other than assuming you have not removed the body of the receiver?? The other option is just replace the top cover with one that has a standard weaver style mount on top for

I was at my local gun show and noticed a few guys selling bullet sized lasers that you load into the chamber that shine a red laser on the target so you can sight in your scope. I had considered getting a scope for my x39 but can't decide yay or nay. Mainly I dont know enough about how to properly sight in a rifle so a scope would just add more confusion to my cause heh. But for those "in the know", are these laser guides anywhere near reliable? I've been told they work good for pistols where the short barrel loses some accuracy but the vendors didn't know much about the product they were sell

I own an x39 Saiga and I had some questions regarding general use. I see a lot of folks have flash hiders or muzzle breaks. The saiga is my first semi auto rifle so this is all very new to me. I've seen some of the flash hiders/supporessors but I dont fully understand how this effects recoil. If you had a slant break I could see that doing good because with there being a cut out in the top side it could make gases release UP forcing the recoil more downward. The AK rifles have an angled down buttstock making the rifle want to jump up on recoil naturally so I wondered if that's why some folks g

I purchased a x39 from ClassicArms.us for $349.95 and had it 3 days later. I ordered 2 tapco mags from them too...BUT they sent me steel AK mags by mistake. So much for 922R...DOH! Not sure if this is a sign from above that I should convert. I saw immediately what you were all saying about the oem butt stock. What a joke! I dont think saiga ever intended on someone keeping that piece. However my hipoint carbine stock was still worse, but that's another story. I also ordered the tapco T6 grip/stock and 500 rounds from aimsurplus but of course they screwed up my order as well haha. Seriously

There are a handful of companies that make voting machines for the US. Diebold takes the most heat usually but these companies are not to blame. My parents both work for Diebold so I hear the details. The voting machines probably count correctly BUT those dat drives are then carried to the board of elections where they are "counted". As Stalin said, its not the people who vote that count but he who counts the votes. If you look at all of the primaries, there was huge fraud. In Ohio alone every county with a major city like cbus, dayton, cinci, akron, cleveland etc... all voted for the feminazi

I talked to Sherrod about the first bailout and the new budget they passed. He defends Obama in everything he does because he does not want to look like a coward. It's now a trendy thing to be on Obama's side. I explained how the federal reserver was the cause for inflation, bubbles and how unconstitutional its actions are yet he disagreed and thought they were perfectly sound. Face it, politicians are only puppets that are bought and paid for. They have thousands of lobbyists to answer to. They have already made their choice to do whatever the bankers and powers that be tell them to do. Sucks

I dont feel that if they choose to write such a manipulative law w/out clear guidelines, they can't say that the skeleton stocks with a grip built in could be considered a "pistol grip". Because the point the law makers were really trying to say NO AK 47's indirectly. But the fact that they are bringing in these rifles with that dragunov butt stock. And because its a replacement butt stock I dont think you can call it a true pistol grip anyway. Their laws are written poorly on purpose from the sounds of things. But to answer you question use the skeleton pistol grip stock with the factory 10 r

Okay so in the past 1-2 years I have gotten the cold so many times its getting ridiculous! I've talked to a lot of other people in my neck of the woods that agree they have gotten more bugs lately than they ever remember. Is it just my area or are you guys getting sick more often than usual too? I mean in the last year I have reworked my entire diet and exercise plan and I'm getting MORE sick and MORE often. What the crap??? I'm starting to think these big pharmaceutical corporations are pumping out new viruses to get us sick so we buy more crappy dayquil and sudafed. Anyone else in my shoes?

In case you weren't paying attention, there have been plenty of bills presented to the house trying to put restrictions on weapon purchases just since Lord and Savior Obama took office. It has nothing to do with an actual BAN, though Rham and his boytoy Barry did get semi autos banned in Chicago. The bills out there floating around are for restrictions on who can buy firearms based on their record. HR45 will force gun buyers to pass a psych evaluation test if ti passes. And now HR2159 presents more restrictions on buying and selling of firearms, both commercially and privately. Regardless

I am buying a x39 this week but I need some advice before buying so I can save on S/H. In a SHTF scenario we really should have steel AK mags for durability BUT they aren't legal unless its 922r converted. I cant justify spending $90+ for a few US made mags when you can get steel AK mags for $12. All I really want is the 30 round mags and some kind of pistol grip, I just dont know what route to go to be 922r safe. Ive seen the skeletonized butt w/ a pistol grip built in but I dont fully understand how many parts that counts for. Is the cheapest route to just use US mags (3 parts) and a US stoc
