  1. I've yet to be able to take my 030 out for a range session, but has anybody with one been able to get it running with the Wally World Federal bulk pack we all know and love? Based on what Mario said, these 030s are the same ones Brain at Red Dragun was going to bring in and he and Mario both said they could run the bulk pack birdshot. Hopefully lelandEOD chimes in as he's worked on a few of these shotguns and can possibly shed some light on what he had to do in order to get them running on the cheap stuff.
  2. I spoke with Jack earlier and he helped explain some of the forces involved in the process of using a magwell and it helped me visualize what needed to be removed where. I also remembered I had tagged a topic covering this exact issue and took a look again. A combination of smooting the "hump" on the back of the mag while removing ~.01 from the rear mag catch took care of the issue. Here's the write up with pics done by Lokmeup: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/76816-iz-433-magwell-and-magazine-fitting/ Thanks all Eric
  3. If the mag well design has not changed on the new models, then the magazine will lock up on a three (3) point caming action. I am going to guess that both the 4 and the 8 round have a slight curvature to them? If they do then the concept is the same and I will tell you how to fit the magazines. DO NOT fit it like the drum. If you remove materiel from the lug, like the drum, it will definitely not work!! Let me know if there is a curvature and what the magazines are made of and we can go from there. It is the same as fitting magazines to my JTE Magwell. Jack There is a sligh
  4. Just got my 030 in my hands and none of the 4 or 8 round magwell mags will lock in so that the mag release latch pops back out into its normal position. Just want to appease the demons in my head and verify you're supposed to "file, test, repeat" on the rear lug until they fit like the MD20s and other mags. Thanks Eric
  5. Thanks for the info everyone. My S20 was just a "mucking about" gun until I decided to try and run it in a match and all the info here should definitely help get things setup to be as competitive as I am with my S12. Eric
  6. Thinking about picking up one or two 13rd mags and running my factory full choked S20 in my usual 3 gun match for shits and grins. The Wally World bulk pack Winchester and Remington doesn't reliably cycle the gun all the time so I'd like to see what 2 3/4" birdshot (6-7 1/2 shot) will take care of the steel and reliably cycle. Thanks Eric
  7. Sorry Indy, just dressed it up with parts from Bryan at Dinzag to give it the fixed stock '74 look. Mind giving away what caused the bulge? Hot load or get something jammed in the barrel?
  8. I have a 2001 dated front trunnion S20 with the longer, factory full choked ("F(0,9)" on the left side of the receiver), non-threaded barrel. Akin to the IZ109 being the 19" S12, what is the "IZXXX" designation for this shotgun? I can't seem to find it on the Izhmash website and it doesn't appear to have been mentioned on here either. I'm really just wanting to know for my own records, but figured someone on here likely has the answer. Thanks Eric
  9. For sale is a Sig P226 SCT in 9mm. I've had this pistol for the past 4 years but just can't get used to the SA/DA and it doesn't get the love all my other pistols see. The original 9mm barrel was threaded 1/2x28" by Tornado Tech and comes with 3 x 20 round Mec-Gar mags and a Blackhawk Serpa retention holster. Additionally, the fiber optic front sight (included) has been replaced with a tall Trijicon front sight that's bright and a LPA adjustable rear sight (factory rear sight included). Also included is a .22lr conversion, threaded 1/2x28" by Tornado Tech. Additionally, the .22lr magaz
  10. I dont have a link, but it appears to be the same one. We cant buy ammo online here so I happend to come across some battle packs in the shop one time and picked some up. Case stamp on mine is "FNM 82-21", which mean it is of the same production year as those are advertised with. I pulled some of the bullets from cases that looked more corroded than others and when placing a magnet on the bullet it did attract. I'd buy the Czech if I could get orders from online, that doesnt sound too bad for a crate and no warning of corrosion* Thanks, I'll give the Czech stuff a go and see how it does
  11. .308, surplus south african are not bi-metal, it's coper jacketed lead core. I know this for a fact because besides passing the "magnet test", I cut one in half and it's all lead core. it's pricey, but if you want to shoot metal targets it's either that or look for commercial lead core ammunition, which is still going to be pricey. but, you know the old saying : if you wanna play you gotta pay I got some Portuguese and DAG that both attract magnets, dont think we have much SA in my area anymore. 308. surplus seems to have dried up in my area Do you have a link for the Portu
  12. I can use the steel cased/bi-metal ammo all day long on the paper targets...it's when those steel gongs get put into a match that the magents come out.
  13. Thanks all, kinda what I figured with the bi-metal jackets. Eric
  14. Was going to use my S308 in a 3 gun match next weekend and they do magnet tests to ensure no AP rounds get into the mix and tear up the steel targets. I pulled a bullet from a Brown Bear 145gn FMJ round and low and behold it sticks to a refrigerator magnet. Anyone know if any of the steel cased stuff (FMJ or SP) will pass a magnet test on a pulled bullet? I'd like to take the S308 out for some run and gun matches, but the lack of a steel cases round that doesn't have any steel in the bullet may make that an impossibility. Thanks Eric
  15. Tag...and agree with the sticky recommendation.
  16. Fantastic post. Big thanks for the Cyrillic characters and their English counterparts. Eric
  17. Yeah, getting a builder to do it doesn't worry me so much. Tromix, Tac47, CGW and others can surely do it, it's getting the plan laid out for what parts can work in stock configuration, what needs to be modded and how so that has the wheels turning.
  18. That's right, forgot about the FSGB. I know Saigatech USA has done a very nice S12 Krink. Guess I need to hit him up or have him venture into this thread. So the RSB/top cover question still stands, but I think Ray (I hope I'm remembering his name correctly) should be able to confirm/deny that one for me. Thanks Eric
  19. Why? Because this America, the land of why not I already have a converted S20 and am happy with it, but would like to SBS it for S&Gs. Main question concerns the ability to get a Krink RSB, gas tube, HG retainer and top cover to work on the S20 bbl, trunnion and receiver...can it be done? There are enough builders out there doing chop jobs on the Saiga shotguns so getting the short barrel/gas tube system to run wally world birdshot doesn't bother me, but ensuring all the Krink specific front end parts will mesh with the S20 front trunnion, bbl and receiver is my current knowl
  20. K-var has the rear hardware and the front hardware in stock. I may try to contract a Chinese company to do the entire stock. Jim I hate to ask for a link...but I just can't seem to find them on K Var's website. Thanks Eric ETA: Found 'em Back latch: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=17794&cat=251&page=1 Front latch: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=17795&cat=0&page=1 And you have a PM concerning payment options.
