  1. Looking to purchase a complete trigger guard, mag catch and selector stop for an AK 100 series rifle. Additionally, lookng for a triger guard, mag catch and selector stop from one of the Izzy AK74 parts kits that RGuns is selling. Thanks Eric
  2. I use one of the R&R thumb mag releases and love it. It feels extremely natural and allows for the right hand to easily support the weight of the shotgun with the right hand and drop the mag while the left hand reaches for a fresh one. Mag changes for me go something like this: drop the buttstock a couple inches down so it rests just under my armpit, index/trigger finger rests under the LRBHO knob (this ensures a loaded mag won't cause the BHO to be released early as a side benefit) while the thumb pushes forward on the mag release. This forward pressure on the mag release keeps the muzzle
  3. I purchased the Surefire version of the magwell but use AGPs as they have a more secure lock up while still dropping free when compared to the surefires. I modded all of the mags myself.
  4. I received my S12 back from CGW after they installed the LRBHO and got it to the range today. It ran with no issues using Izzy 5s, Keep Shooting 5s, Surefire 12s and AGP 10s. After seeing that it worked well with rock and lock mags I put my JT Engineering magwell back on and tried AGP 10s, a Promag 10 and a Surefire 8. The Promag and Surefire had too much material removed off the front and the added pressure from the LRBHO caused the rounds to nosedive into the bottom of the chamber. The AGPs ran great with only a few FTF. I may add a little jb weld to the front of each to ensure the feed angl
  5. They actually put two indents in the separate portions of the choke. Attach the choke to the barrel and loosen the upper part in order to break he two free and its good to go after that. Just the first little bit which is hard to get going, once the carbonbuild up is "cracked" then they unscrew easily.
  6. Care to send those pics my way as well? Always open for learning something new from those with more experience. PM inbound. Thanks Eric
  7. And it'll give you something to do besides shooting when you get back! My thoughts exactly. While the benefits of cosmoline go without saying...this is only for 9-15 months and cleaning that crap off every weapon I own upon return would drive me nuts.
  8. I'm good on insurance and the pepper spray idea does not get a +1 in my book for the reasons already stated. I'd look like an ass stumbling out of my storage unit, crying my eyes out and cursing my own name later next year:) Indy All good points, now to find some silicone impregnated gun socks/sealent bags. I've seen some online. And here we are. Just as cheap as cheaper than dirt. http://shop.rustfreebags.com/ Even better. http://www.polygunbag.com/gunbags.html
  9. A man truly devoted to selfless service and sacrifice for others. I don't care what they say about you behind your back...you're a gentleman and a scholar in my book:)
  10. Zero power in the unit. I've seen the bags before, but they were always for Monte Carlo style stocks...guess I'll have to check again. Thanks all and keep the suggestions/tips coming. Eric
  11. So my job is taking me on the road for the next 13-15 months and instead of paying rent on an apartment I won't see, my stuff is going into storage. The firearms will be locked in a safe but it isn't airtight by any means. My plan right now is to clean them all one more time and while wearing gloves so as to not put skin oils on them, rub the frames with gun oil and put an oiled patch down the barrel. Then once they're all in the safe I'll have 3 cans of dessicant (enough to cover 155 sq ft, plenty for my 14 gun safe) poured into open ziplock bags since the quart sized cans won't all fit
  12. Ok Sunnybean...I gotta know who that is in your avatar. Saigatechusa: Im sure you'll do a great job on the info concerning the installation, assembly, production/creation for damn near anything on these shotguns. I say have at, take some good pics and let's get it stickied. Eric
  13. Thanks for the info. I want my to be as close as possible to the original configuration. Since they're already in contact with Red Dragun and have experience with one it looks like I'll be sending mine there as well. Has anyone asked them what they would charge to do a acurate conversion to the original? Goggle "Piece of History Firearms" and once on their home page you'll see a button labeled "work order/price quote." Follow the link and fill in the boxes to get a quote for the exact job you want done. Eric
  14. Didn't Skott do one up awhile ago when he did the install on his S12C and it just never got stickied due to the lack of large scale need? Eric
  15. And Saigatechusa...seriously...hands down the most beautiful Saiga shotguns I have ever seen. I can't believe I've never complimented you on them before this, but with your skill set I know why you don't need to pick one of these up. You truly play at a varsity level sir. Eric
  16. As far as there being room for the buttstock catch up by the front trunion...I spoke with Mario over at Piece of History Firearms (POHF) and there is room. POHF did the poly side folder install for Red Dragun on the first one they got in for a sample and their shop was recommended to me by Brian (owner of Red Dragun) when I spoke with him over the phone while placing my order for the shotgun. I'm sure anyone of our smiths could do it, but I liked the price and availability that POHF offers me. As far as trigger guard I'm going with the one from AK Builder that Lokmeup posted earlier on
  17. Thanks man. Good luck on the write-up; I'm sure I'm not the only person looking forward to it. Eric Mods: Since this thread is now stickied I guess we could change the title to something like "Picture Thread Discussion Thread" or something like that??? Just don't want TX-Zen to become the defacto guy that gets questions thrown his way nor that folks think this thread is only for questions directed at him:) Thanks Eric
  18. You must be on the wrong web page... PM sent. Care to PM me that info as well? Thanks Eric
  19. In regards to mags...folks over in the LRBHO thread are talking about modding US mags to fit in the Russian magwell and activate the Russian LRBHO. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=63209&st=30 I don't see why this platform would be any different then the 109BHO. Just my .02. Eric
  20. I ended up ordering one and asked Brian that exact question concerning low brass. He said that when they got together with the Russians to test fire their sample they went over every point which was robbing energy from the recoil (rough hammer/BCG interface, rivets from the top rail barely rubbing the BCG, etc.), did some minor filing and they got it run Federal bulk pack like a champ. Winchester white box had hiccups, but I believe the Federal bulk pack is the unofficial standard to see if it's running correctly on this forum. Supposedly the Russians are using real deal quality control on the
  21. Z Credit goes where it is due sir. I didn't want to clog up the pic thread so I figured I'd take my questions outside. I've seen some of your write ups over on ARF.com as well as here and I have a couple questions for you. 1. Do you have a compiled thread/website of write ups and evaluations of the different optics? If not...could you please link to some of the ones you and the other Com Bloc optics nuts see as most informative and/or covering the greatest number of Russian/Eastern European optics? I guess a general overview for the red dots, night vision and non-PSO/POSP magni
  22. Tx-Zen Absolutely amazing collection of firearms and assorted optics to place upon them! I have to know...where do you end up getting all these Russian/Eastern European optics from? Just keep looking on Gunbroker and the like until they pop up or are Kalinka and Eastwave on your speed dial? I ask because as I continue to build my collection of AK series firearms I can see some more optics from Russia and the Former Soviet Republics in my future. Thanks much and again...stellar series of photos showing some excellent marraiges of beautiful firearms and optics. Eric E
  23. Purchased a slightly used 22/45 from Wade a couple weeks ago. Finally had a chance to get to the FFL to pick it up and the firearm/accessories matched the description in the sale. Fast shipping, honest description and an overall enjoyable individual to deal with. Easy day to buy from him again without fear. Thanks Wade Eric
  24. Price and projected turn around if I send the S308 down? Slug-O is hooking me up with a 14x1LH to 5/8-24 adapter so the S308 is the only one Ill need to get threaded now? Thanks Eric $100 Plus return shipping, 30-45 days currently. Would you just do the 14 x 1 LH on the 308 too ? I'm wanting to do 5/8-24 RH on the S308 so I could put the AAC 51T Muzzle Brake directly onto the barrel without the use of an adapter. I currently have my S12 with your shop for an Auto BHO install which was shipped in a double gun hard case. You projected a 30-45 day wait on that one
