  1. Thank's man. I try to mention Saiga-12.com as much as I can in the Saiga vids I've done to drive traffic this way. Good to know I'm not the only one who made that mistake with the TAT.. It would have been nice to catch that one by watching someone's video. Thanks for watching man..
  2. Shoot, I almost filmed that part too, but I did that a couple of weeks ago.. Noted. Thank you.
  3. Hey guys So, I posted a video documenting how I threaded my Saiga barrel (mistakes and all), basically using information I pulled from this forum, so I thought I'd post it here so others can potentially benefit. If you watch, please let me know if you see any gross errors, and I'll do my best to fix them with commentary on the vid. Thanks everyone. -noBuzzkillin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_2VeQ5owrs
  4. Ok, went back to the hardware store, and bought a different pipe cutter, a cold chisel, and a vise grip. Got home, put on the new pipe cutter, and gave it ONE twist. Heard a crackle sound and the dang thing came right off!! Haha... I was literally 1 turn away from having it pop off when I stopped and decided to ask you guys for help.. haha.. Unfortunately, NOT threaded. Thanks for the input fellas.
  5. Thanks Mark So, to your eye, it doesn't look like I'm getting close to damaging the barrel with the cuts I've made so far? There is that outer layer, then one more layer before getting to the actual barrel, right? Was a little nervous about the "middle layer".. Figured it was part of the shroud, but wasn't 100%. Thanks for your input man.
  6. You mean hit it length-wise or along the pipe-cutter cut?
  7. Hi Guys I haven't posted here for quite a while, but I'm in a spot with removing my barrel shroud, so I wanted to ask for some assistance. I read through the forums here, and it looks like there is a consensus that a pipe cutter is the best tool to remove the shroud. I have a dimpled, non-stepped, 09 Saiga 7.62x39, so there is a chance that I've got a threaded barrel under the shroud. I went at it with a cheap pipe cutter, which broke. I bought a better one, but I'm not sure if I'm making enough headway getting through the shroud. I obviously don't want to bugger my barrel, so it's time t
  8. Hey Guys, I just wanted to doubleback here again, now that I've had it to the range and tested the bolt on retainer. The short is, no issues whatsoever. Stayed on during the session, and upon closer inspection, had no slippage. Check out the shooting vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrg0CNvL828
  9. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Much appreciated, and good to get confirmed by experts that I wasn't completely off base. Whenever I talk about conversions, I always throw people to the saiga-12 forum, because well.. it just rocks. Thanks again.
  10. Hey man, thanks for the reply and the info. I'm looking forward to getting it to the range for testing. I'm glad you liked the CMR vid. It's a fun scope, and cheaper now than when I got mine. It's pretty heavy, but I still like it a lot.
  11. Thanks buddy. Good to know I wasn't COMPLETELY off. I was worried a little bit about the depth of the notch..
  12. Hey all I haven't posted for a while, so I hope you all are well. Yesterday, I used one of the carolinashootersupply's bolt on retainers, and added some Kvar furniture to my Saiga. I followed the instructions, but since it was the first time I have done this, I wanted to hear if you guys could check my math. In the name of helping other with this project, I posted a video here: Let me know if I did it right. I want to correct the video if not. Thanks

  14. Sweet rig man! Now go get it really dirty..
  15. Good idea Post A. From Cali. No making fun of the 10 rounders! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYfFfKfmECg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msmPLMKsBqQ
  16. 3 lbs? I would have guessed about 1.3 lbs. maximum, which is apparently a pretty good guess. Listed weight is 1.2 lbs. which sounds exactly right.
  17. Howdi I'm interested in getting some metal targets for to use with my 7.62x39, and I'm just wondering if anyone has experience/recommendations on what I should get. It would be nice if they were reset targets, but I'm open to recommendations from experienced shooters. I'll also be shooting a .40 Glock 22 if that makes any difference. Thanks.
  18. I had a muzzle brake on the rifle of the clip on variety, but it failed (there is a vid actually showing the failure, and a thread here on Saiga-12 with an in depth discussion of what happened here DPH muzzle brake failure.). I would like to have one put on, but I'll have to get my barrel threaded before I get one. I don't trust the clip on anymore. Mag lock is a Solar Tactical. Best one I have tried, although the only other one I've used is a Radd lock, which was fine, but much slower mag changes than the ST. I use the lip of a magazine to do the mag change now and it works pretty well. U
  19. great videos...whats with the numbers on your mags? I number my mags 1-3 in different colors. If one of them fails or has any issues then its easy to identify later when I'm home. Easy to remember that red 2 had an issue. Not so easy if they are all just black.
  20. Great guys, thanks for the input. Glad you liked.
  21. I'm all about irons. Prefer them up to 150 yards for sure, and I think any self respecting AK person should train with them as much as possible. That being said, I've also started using my POSP for longer range shooting, and recently was hitting a 1.5 ft. diameter metal target at 400 yards about 9-10 times with the scope. I couldn't even see the target with the naked eye. For anything past 200 yards, I think magnification is a must if you want any consistency. In any 'serious' situation, you don't want to be firing 3 shots just to get a bearing on your target.
  22. Hi all - Just posted a sort of system go-through on youtube, so I thought I'd throw it up here for a little feedback from true Saiga people. Hope it helps some newcomers with making pg conversion decisions. Cheers
  23. I've got a couple in my signature that I hope are helpful to some.
  24. bigsal -- what's the asking price on the Kalinka mount? They had a batch in a day ago that went for around $55. They sold out (according to member Belloc, posting on another forum, they sold out in an hour)! Call them and get on their waiting list. Awesome, thanks. I contacted Kalinka, and they reported that they should have a low pro sidemount that allows co witness some time in February. Per Kalinka ' The full side mount name is POSP/PSO AK/AKM Side Mount w/ 30 mm Heavy Duty Ring and Black Finish, Tim Heffron' Special Limited Edition'. Should be interesting.
