  2. i have a friend up here at school who wants to know what is involved to get a class III weapon, in PA. also if anyone knows of a gun shop near Carlisle and if they are class III or not. any imput would be helpful. thank you guys. keith
  3. the Dunhams in Maryland is in western maryland. i went there once (a 90min drive) because i was told they sell handguns but they dont. and since they don't have a handgun liscense they can't sell "assult rifles" which is in the same catagory as handguns in maryland. and in the great state of maryland the saiga is considered an "assult rifle." so the Dunhams is no help to us saiga lovers in the "freestate." keith
  4. my dad is a lefty and he hasn't had a problem with our saigas (308 and 7.62x39), i shoot lefty sometime just for the heck of it and i havent had a problem either. keith
  5. the underlined part in my first post is a link to the ak buffer on both sites keith
  6. i have a blackjack buffer on my saiga 308 and it works great, havent had any problems with it. i have black one on all my aks. buffer tech also has one but i havent tried it. hope this help. keith
  7. sorry i didnt get a chance to post earlier but i have been really busy lately. here are some pics of my converted 991 i havent blued it yet and right now it is getting a birdcage flash hider on it. but here it is.
  8. my 308 did the same thing mainly on the last round in a mag. it was with wolf ammo but i found a quick fix i switched reciever covers with my romak 991 and hasn't happend since. i think that the problem is that the reciever cover doesn't fit as tight as it should or isnt long enough. so if you order a new rociever cover or switch with another ak you should be fine. (p.s. it was funny because it kept hitting my dad in the nose when he shot it). keith
  9. well i don't have any dimples but i dont have any wobble to speak of. all i did was try to cut the reciver as close as possible to the mag (it is a bit bigger) and the trunnion block i cut little by little till the mag fit tightly. o yeah the mag guides had to be trimmed too. but my mags fit nicely. so yeah not an expert so if that isnt what you were speaking of then let me know. the convertion is fun and a good project i would suggest it to anyone just remember to go slow. o by the way how do i post pics it just wont work for me. thanks keith
  10. o i am not converting my saiga but i converted my 991 to take high cap mags (had to dremel out the magwell and change out for US parts and all that) and i was thinking about changing stocks. I couldnt get the stock off any of my ak's, i was getting worried. I will post pics of the 991 a bit later, after i get a chance to take some. I think i like the stock it is a thumb hole type that my dad and me put finger groove in. well i'll post later. thanks again for all the advice. keith
  11. thanks for all the advice I got the stock off my saiga 7.62x39. i used the chair method it worked well. now how do i get the wooden stock off my 991, will the same procedure work? thanks again keith
  12. how in the world do i get the buttstock off an AK I unscrewed it and tried to pull it off and it just wouldn't come. is there any trick to know about? I tried it on both my romanian 991 and my saiga 7.62x39, haven't tried my saiga 308 yet. the 991 has a thumbhole stock if that makes a difference. thanks keith
  13. Thanks Ford. Does anyone know the answer to my other question; can I use a normal ar-15 lower with a 7.62x39 upper or do I have to find a 7.62x39 lower and if so where can I find one? thanks. keith
