  1. I tried running some Remington slugger packs through my drum today. I got a few ftf's unfortunately. I wonder if the stronger spring will do the trick. I had it at the factory setting as far as tension. I'd kinda like to not have to mess with adjusting it if possible for different shell types within reason.

It has run 100% with low brass birdshot.

    I

I fit it to one Saiga 12 I have. It wasn't locking into the other Saiga I own very well. If you put forward pressure on it while seating it could go in but pretty tight. So after looking at it I decided to do a little more on the A adjustment. Well that barely made a difference if at all. I think the mag well on my second Saiga is a little more narrow in the front after further inspection. Now it will rock slightly forward and backward in the original one I fitted it for, and barely at all in the second Saiga. It fits tighter than any of my factory or AGP mags in both Saigas. Still I hope the slight rocking in one of them will not do any harm over the long term. It's nothing major but it is noticeable when comparing it to the fit in the second one.

I have a second drum but I don't plan on using it for now. I like to have backup mags should one break.

  2. Wanted to let everyone know that when the UPS guy comes by tomorrow that orders up to and including EV-1189 will be shipped. I have read that some never received their tracking number. UPS should be sending an automatic email. It might be that some people are using a different email address than they placed their order with. Other that I don't know why it wouldn't be sent. Everyone that has an order shipping out tomorrow will receive a tracking number in the morning. Thanks again everyone!

  3. McCain would roll over on the pro gun crowd as soon as something better came along. HE can't be trusted to stay on our side. But if Obama gets in, you know all the republicans would vote against any bill he pressed. They would just trap the bill on the floor, filibuster it to death, hopefully.

I think the reps are more into the fraud thing

I'd have to say both those comments are pure bullshit IMHO.

McCain has always been pro gun and does not support assault weapons being banned (he has said himself he does not support a ban). I really don't like McCain on a lot of issues. The thing is though when he says something you know he means it. He doesn't seem to care who he pisses off really if you look at his history. He is not known for changing his positions on issues like many other politicians (I'm not saying it has never happened). Now right now with the election he is going to try to make as many people happy as he can, but he has always been pro gun even before being a candidate so I trust him on this issue.

The whole voting fraud thing is laughable. It doesn't deserve a response really.

I wanted to like Ron Paul but his foreign policy positions are those of a nutjob. I'm not even referring to Iraq I just mean in general. My views are libertarian to a large extent but that part is a deal breaker.

  4. I'm one paranoid MF'er about "assault weapon" related items until they are in my hands. I know my drums are on the way........but I still have paranoid delusions some law will be passed before I get mine :lolol:

    I don't know why.

A good example is I have always wanted a USC/UMP conversion. I spent every extra penny I had this summer to make it happen so I could have it before the next election along with 10 of the 25rd mags that were $65 a pop.

When I graduate from dental school this may I am afraid that I may spend some serious coin because of this... I think I may get a shitload of spare parts for everything I own that could be considered an assault weapon at some point.

  5. I thought I would share this info. I asked Mike a question via email. I didn't expect a response really, but I got it in one day:

It is because my store uses an order number when ever someone puts an item in their cart wether they complete the order or not. It's dumb and I hate it. I have just over 1100 actual orders placed but my EV order numbers are showing in the 2600's right now. Around 1500 order numbers have been wasted because of that. Not a problem but it causes confusion. Thanks again, MikeD

Mike I have a question for you. I ordered in the first 1000 drums but my order number is slightly higher than 1000. Is this because possibly seperate orders for springs etc?

  6. I don't understand. I ordered mine in August 07. I just logged in though and it shows I ordered it in november with a # EV-1074. I thought the first run was for 1000 drums and there were several hundred left when I ordered.

  7. I'd have to agree that Mike Likely bit off more than he can chew.

I have 2 drums on order for myself. One was ordered in August and the other recently.

I am confident that the drums will be shipped, but I do think that Mike is doing a poor job with updates. Sending an email like that and then not saying anything when the date comes and passes is just not the way to do business. I am not going to cancel my orders any time soon, but I am feeling somewhat like a lemming more and more.

I am not going to be apologetic for saying this. I'm sure Mike is a great guy and means well, but I think he owes it to his customers to keep us in the loop instead of sporadic updates with no followup when the updates were off the mark.

  8. Last night I broke/rounded the sharp edge I was talking about with a long skinny stone in my dremel. I was very conservative/light, but could feel a huge difference. I put 50 Federal 7 1/2 size 1oz load shells through it today and had no failures of any kind. I rapid fired, shot it as limply as I could, etc to try to make it malfunction. So recontouring the hammer and breaking/rounding the edge solved my issues.

    :super:

  9. hrmmm I converted my shotgun and had no change in reliability with the federal bulk ammo... although I've always shot 1 1/8 oz loads soo.

I find that shooting some Buck or slugs 2 3/4" on gas setting 2 gets the gun worked in :)

I only took it out once before converting it and I don't think I used Federal.

  10. Quick question about that UMP project of yours. It's fantastic, I love it. ..... Two grand?

It was over 2 grand. I think about $2400 for the gun, parts, and for ED at HDPS to do some mods to the lower I purchased from him.

Then $200 for the tax stamp

Then each of those 25rd mags were $60.

    DON'T REMIND ME

I've kinda found it's just best to get exactly what I want rather than buying cheaper stuff that I kind of want. Otherwise I end up selling stuff and losing money. I don't get stuff as often as I would otherwise but that's ok.

  11. This is my latest. I got my form 1 back a week ago:

Nice looking weapon, please excuse my ignorace, what does the form 1 do? I am assuming that is a semi auto correct?

It is a short barreled rifle. The barrel is around 8". You can't have a pistol with a rifle stock or a rifle with a barrel less than 16" unless you register it as a SBR via an atf form 1 and purchase a $200 tax stamp. The pic below shows what the rifle looked like when I got it. It originally accepted 10rd single stack mags and now it takes 25rd double stack mags as the lower is now an HK UMP lower instead of the original USC lower.. (the pic below is not my gun)

Thanks for the info. So if I wanted to get the wooden stock for my Luger with the 6 inch barrel I would have to get the form 1 and pay the tax stamp? Or is that different because the pistol is designed for the stock and it is an accessory?

I have no idea really. It may be treated differently because it is a C&R. You could not take like a ar15 pistol and slap a stock on it legally, but older stuff like your luger may be a different story.

  13. I have a saiga 12 I converted myself. It has always ran 100% with Winchester bulk packs and Remington Bulk packs 1oz or 1 1/8. With federal low brass I would get ftf's and stovepipes constantly. I recontoured my hammer some to decrease the resistance on the cycling bolt carrier. It now runs with Federal 1 1/8 oz loads but still has ftf's with the 1oz. It does not seem to stovepipe any more since that mod.

The FTF's is always the shell catching the area on the barrel shaped like a ramp for the extractor to ride over. I have no idea if it would be a bad idea to polish or round this part. I'm thinking that or just barely open the gas ports. More like polishing the ports with a drill bit almost.

Anyone have any suggestions? I know I am being anal but I want it to function reliably with all the major low brass shells.
