Yep, gun ban coming.. The only hope for the rights of the rest of us, is that its coming up on their break. And they will have time to temper their thoughts.
Call me a "Chicken Little" if you must, but my mindset's;
Ginny Burdick here, is already trying to pass legislation banning the transfer of mags over 10 rounds so I got a head start already. It's emergency legislation that takes effect as soon as it's passed, so I opted for expedited shipping & processing.
Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty good about having kept my medical licences current to serve as a backup career should legislation kill my business, and therefore livelihood.
I'm sure you're in the same boat.

I talked to Scott at DPH for a good while at a recent gunshow here in NC. I got to see and discuss most of their new stuff and other things new on the scene. Among these things was the vert CH he has that just bolts on and resembles the Galil design. I was impressed with it actually. Looks very well made and it's designed so it can't work loose. It has a special feature to the set screw keeping this from happening. Does not even require a thread locker. I plan to get one on my next DPH order to try out.
As far as the LRBHO goes...well I will just say it is not dead in the water....

Read the title. It pretty much sums it up.
My netbook took a crap but was under a best-buy warranty. They gave me an in-store credit and I picked up this new POS that has windows 8.
The fuckin' thing wants a ton of personal info just to set it up (now I have a PC named "Get Fucked") and if I want to customize stuff, I get to waste a shitload of time re-learning how to run the fuckin' thing.
Sure, if I had no life, or nothing better to do, like the mountain of work I need to get done... That might be a fun new adventure, learning new things and challanging myself, but unfortunately, I DO have better shit to do, so this sucks ass.
I pray Gates comes to Portland someday & I run into him. Multi-billionare or no, I plan to smack the everloving shit out of the guy should I ever get the opportunity.
That being said, if anybody has the personal info of the cocksucker who runs apple, I'd about be willing to drive a thousand miles to stomp that fucker down after I-tunes recently jacked another couple hundred dollars worth of music from my MP-3 library.

Yeah... It sure does work without the spring. Works real well, even without engaging it. Works great to jam up in the action while firing.

Sorry for the snarky tone, but this type of half assery (especially when I see it from people posing as "professionals") just annoys the hell out of me.
Just use a small screwdriver to lift the spring leg up (press the blade against the side of the receiver as you lift) then when the leg's high enough, press the BHO against the receiver and release the spring so it falls on the BHO's dog ear.Eventually, I will get around to removing the FCG and reinstalling the spring.
Tilting it up first and notching the BHO will prevent the failure in the future.

If you can't reach around a corner and fire your "combat shotgun" one handed to clear the way, there's something wrong there IMHO and one should get to tuning.
Between the S-12 & V-12 it can go either way. If you just want to be able to put a shit-ton of lead down range, you're mechanically inclined, and a good craftsman, you can have a drummed up converted S-12 running like a raped ape for a ballpark of $800.00 if you do everything yourself. I'm talkin' hella on the cheap, like using a takeoff buttstock, search out a $20.00 G-2, reuse the TG etc...
Before anybody thinks it'd be ghetto, this gun (w/o mags) would be just over $700.00 to build one's self if someone really tried to keep costs down;
The V-12's gas system doesn't really strike me as all that special. It has 5 ports at the S-12 4 port size and the puc/op-rod combo are better engineered to eliminate the running start and slam from the gas puc on the op-rod that happens with the S-12, and the V-12's puc keeps the op-rod centered.
Nearly the same results can be obtained by bottoming out a Tom Cole HD-op rod in an S-12's carrier to ensure better energy transfer directly to the carrier's shaft for durability, and a CSS Performance Puc to eliminate the puc's running start before hitting said op-rod.
The above said, it's all about what one's looking for IMO. Both can be spectacular weapons.
At first I was loving the novelty of the V-12, and yes, it does seem to be higher build quality from the factory, but if a person doesn't have a touch over a grand to plop down on a V-12 and they're good at research on this forum, have some simple tools and a touch of ambition, going with the S-12's a VERY good choice still the way I see it.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I do love my V-12, but the S-12's no slouch by any stretch of the imagination, and speaking from experience, there's a whole lot more to getting drums to run reliably on the V-12 than anybody's mentioned yet.
Prototype's in the 3rd stage and lookin' real good.

Absofuckinglutely NOT.The original question was what mods would you do FIRST... And I would think you would agree that replacement of the gas plug gives you more control to tune the system to the loads you are using - regardless of the FCG and BCG being re-profiled and polished or not.
The factory plug is the most efficient in my experience until the weapon's properly tuned.
From my testing, NO gas plug increases reliability on low recoil loads over the factory plug. Pucs on the other hand, I swear by the CSS performance puc.

I personally don't see the need for it IF YOUR GAS SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD. If you are trying to cure a problem by reducing friction, to allow it to get by with deficient gas flow, then have you really cured the problem? I have no problems with ANY loads I put through my S12 or my Vepr 12 because the gas systems are properly functioning.
Less resistance means less gas needed to cycle the weakest loads.
Take two properly gassed guns side by side, one with GlassBolt and the other without, and the GlassBolt gun will run lighter loads more reliably, regardless of added weight of vertical chargers or the HD op-rod. I got hundreds of people posting on this very forum that'll attest to that.
Less gas needed to run the same loads means less wear on the parts, and that equals a overall more durable weapon with longer service life because less energy is being violently transmitted through the parts.
The slower the gas enters the system, and the less gas that must enter the system to cycle the same loads, the better for long term durability.
Wear, stress etc, has a cumulative effect over time.
That being sadi, to answer the OP's question of;
If you had a brand new Saiga 12 and $100 what would you change first.I'd find another ten bucks & buy a cheap buttstock, MD arms Molot Pistol Grip, and single hook Tapco G-2 FCG, and I'd convert the weapon back to the AK configuration.
That's what I'd change FIRST if I only had a hundred bones & a brand new S-12.

I think polishing is over rated. There are some instances (trigger) were it is worth while, but I am not sold on polishing bolts and carriers. If the gas system is working properly, parts tend to mate over time - making polishing unnecessary. I did have some "issues" with my S12, that went away after replacing the gas plug (MD Arms), and running a hundred or so rounds through it with lubrication. My Molot Vepr 12 on the other hand, ran great out of the box (again with proper lubrication), and performed flawlessly durring last weekend's deer hunting, in which it accounted for three deer.
Look in the magwell as you pull the charger & you'll notice the bolt rotating & extracting. From the factory it's hexigonal and has a huge hump to drag over the shells which press very hard against the bolt, especially with drum mags.
The bolt profile as well as matching the hammer to the carrier really do reduce resistance to keep power in the cycle for better reliability with low recoil loads.
Here's some close-ups of a "decent"
reprofile and an "okay" polish.It can be done by a skilled hobbyist or sent out.
Either way, there's always going to be a slight break in period, because the 30XPA steel is made to self workharden as the gun's used. That's when people say "loosened up". This cannot be avoided because certain areas such as angle where the barrel hood starts bolt rotation, the embutments, and a few other areas do need to self work-harden. It's just how the weapon's designed. If they made all the steel super hard, it'd be brittle, so they went the route they did.

Please. There is a huge push at the teacher level for stricter standards and better teaching. The push for higher grades regardless of ability comes from admin, mainly because of No Child Left Behind. If the kids dont get grades, the admin doesnt get federal money. So they develop a system where the ONLY thing that matters is the grades. Whole classrooms are going nowhere while teacher tries to get Donny Dumbshit to the point where he will score what the school needs to get funding.
The push-in system driven by bleeding-hearts isnt working, some kids (due to genetics, or diet, or bad parenting) are gonna be Walmart greeters and burger flippers. Holding back future scientists and engineers to make them feel better is ridiculous, and the teachers realize this. First step is repeal NCLB, then break the teacher union that, like many unions nowadays, no longer represents its members and is only deticated to its survival.
A related problem is the teachers who disagree with the far-left tenents are usually targeted by the admin. Its not hard to get rid of a bad teacher, when the admin truly wants to.

When I as a naive child asked my teacher why jews didn't just say they weren't Jews during the Holicaust, my "teacher" just looked with saddness, because she would have been fired if she'd explained the definition of faith, yet they can teach little girls that they can kill children who can otherwise be supported and live, but it's not murder.
They can teach that sexual deviancy is the normal human way, and they tout theories as if they're proven fact. "Scientific Consensus", a laughable oxymoronic concept is taught to the masses as being substanative.
They teach that man made global warming is a huge issue, but never touch on the fact that we manipulate weather routinely with cloud seeding operations & chemical injections into the atmosphere to the point that there's laws on every state's books pertaining to such practices, let alone the HAARP system which can push the ionosphere 30 miles into outer space creating a vacuum and changing the course of the jet stream.

Forget about open diallouge and giving the kiddos the full story. I love the two main girls in my life with all my heart & I'm down for the housemate thing, but I just don't see either as the type to have several kids, be hands on at raising them & homeschool, etc... They're both successful in their fields and value career advancement too much for that.They're already gonna pick me up regardless.
