  1. FNH FNP45 USG with shooters pack (having a hell of a time finding decently priced ammo or even local stuff thats in stock anywhere). i'm dying to shoot it!
  2. supposedly the new Hornady LeverEvolution 30/30 ammo will add 75yds to a lever gun. i would get them both....
  3. FYI Hornady is running a special right now for up to $300 in free projectiles (choice of cailber) when you buy one of their reloading systems.
  4. test cycling rounds in my garage after i installed a bullet guide in my IZ-132. i realized how easy it would be to accidentally fire one off. thats the closest i have ever come to an accidental discharge. i promptly removed the hammer and continued with my testing. that was close enuf for me!
  5. i thought the SAW grip was going to be bulky also, i wear a L-XL glove. but i tell you what, it feels damn good in the hand. i wouldnt rule it out if i were you. Carolina Shooters Supply is a vendor and they have a good selection grips to choose from at competitive prices.
  6. if its in state (IL), get a copy of their FOID and DL for CYA (Covering Your own Ass). what vibrator man above says, is good word to go by.
  7. thats interesting. i havent had a chance to try HP's with mine yet, all i have is FMJ's. when you say shallow, do you mean it doesnt stick out over the mag far enough ...or?
  8. I wonder if we got ours out of the same batch from Classic Arms. mine was made in March of '09, has dimples and i recieved it about a month ago. i havent removed the FSB to check for threading yet but it is on my 'to do list'.
  9. the follower stops the bolt from slamming home. remove the mag and the bolt closes.
  10. good stuff guys, thanks for putting the pics and info up. how that brass one coming along, anymore updates? i went through 180rds today testing mags and not one issue at all. tried 6 different steel mags and they all fed all 30rds. i forgot to loctite the screw in the guide and didnt have an issue from that either. i checked it after every mag and it never came loose.
  11. stick the muzzle in a bucket of hot soapy water. run the bore brush through it into the hot soapy water repeatedly. slop all the hot soapy water around in the receiver while you're doing it. use the same bucket of water to drop the smaller parts into and rinse off. dry it. assemble? atleast thats how the gun digest book of AK's and variants (by Patrick Sweeney) says to clean'em after burning through corrosive ammo.
  12. "any thoughts?".....go for it. you'll end up with a piece that is about 1/2" to 5/8" square (roughly). when filing the feed lip side of the guide, make the ramp as long and flat as possible before filing into the screw hole. a short, steep ramp can bump the rounds up too high and cause some feeding issues. atleast it did with mine, as thats how i had it at first. you can also file the chamber side so it slides under the barrel if the nipple material is too thick. looking at the face of the chamber, there will be a notch on the right side at about 4:30/5:00. dont install the guide
  13. went and fixed all them, they work right, now. it just looked like it might've skipped over it and pushed the follower down. shoot me a PM about how much u want for the Yugos, i may or may not be interested.
  14. does anyone have any good sites on modding a Marlin 336 in 30/30? i inherited one from my grandfather (RIP) and was able to fire it for the first time last weekend. man what a great feeling rifle! however, i wouldnt mind going through the gun to make the action a little smoother and less "notchy" if possible, and maybe make it a little bit easier to load the rounds into the tube. it does a number on my fingers trying to squeeze them in there. also, this one has a weaver rail on it already and had an old school red dot site with a bulbous glass piece at the front end. i would like to m
  15. haha, no i just hate the fact that its all knock off and cheaper then the original. i mean if you're gonna copy something and sell it, make it better then the original! Norty, the one odd ball follower will work the same then?
  16. ok, little bit better pictures... it still needs a little cleaning up and shaping for asthetic purposes but it functions 100% with all my mags.
  17. well, it looks like i have 3 real Yugos and 3 Chinese "wannabes". i hate buying Chinese shit! i just noticed that one of the Chinese mags has a different follower then the other 2. what can i do to make this one a BHO, change out the follower? the other 2 look like the one on the right (real Yugo on the left)... thanks for the info guys
  18. mine were bought from sportsmans guide as yugo's. the other 3 were purchased from a vendor at a gunshow. schadenfreude; i just looked at the 3 "yugos" in my posession and they all have the little tabs that you pointed out. good info, thanks! i'll be fixing those asap. the 3 i got at the gunshow have a different follower then the "yugos". instead of being open on the backside for the 'dummy round, follower' like in the above pics (which are identical to mine), the heavier mags of unknown origin are all closed off on the back side of the 'dummy round, follower'. sorry for the crap desc
  19. Dinzags BG is very nice looking and was at the top of my list. then i decided that since it is a such a small part and i like to tinker, i'd give it a go and see what happens. if i can find my damn'd digi cam, i'd post some new higher quality pics.
  20. <NEWB as i was test cycling some rounds last night, i discovered 3 of my 6 mags are LRBHO. i know the 3 that arent are yugo surplus and dont feel quite as robust as the 3 BHO mags. the yugos feel a little (i mean teeny tiny bit) lighter, like the steel just isnt as thick as the other 3 where did BHO steel mags come from? were they common? or am i retarded and got robbed by buying the yugo mags because all steel mags should have a BHO?
  21. no dremel needed. all i used was an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut the nipple to rough shape and size. then a round coarse bastard file to fine tune it into shape. i had to do a tiny little bit more filing on it last night, as well as file down the screw head a tad but now it works and cycles all 6 of the surplus 30's from round no.1 to no.30.
  22. sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. i know this has been done before but i couldnt find much help when i searched for info. i went to Lowes yesterday, picked up a Kobalt brand tap and bit combo (8-32), a Dewalt brand Cobalt material 7/64" bit (i probably didnt need this but after reading all the horror stories of broken bits and using Cobalt bits because the material is so hard, i decided to get one in the closest size they had available to #8 which was the 7/64"). a 3/4" x 3" black plumbing nipple and a package of 8-32 flat head machine screws. i spent less then $11.00 including tax an
