  1. Intalling a 100 series folder is almost always a good idea, side mount optics or cost are the only 2 reasons not to. So, the folding hinge actually resides under the tang? All of the pictures I've seen does not make it look that way. Not to call you a liar, but would you mind posting some pics? All of the bonesteel stock pictures I've seen makes it look like a behemoth next to what I've displayed. On mine, it protrudes past the tang 1/32". Appears almost flush with the tang.
  2. More like a vasectomy. Its like losing your manhood. Can likely be reversed if you change your mind, but why go through all the hassle.
  3. When measuring the ace, you also need to include the flange on the receiver block that sits against receiver that plus the .folded mechanism equals .9" look at Maxwells first picture. He has the tape measure behind the flange, so it is included in the measurement. From the pics which arent exact measurements, that combo is far from .9"
  4. Come again? You have a 12-C that you want to start swaping out parts on? Joe, what rock have you been hiding under FIME group has been importing Saiga 12s in the proper configuration with a fixed stock, pistol grip, riveted trigger guard, no extra holes, etc... for months now. Can be found at KVAR as the SGL12-07 and 09 series.
  5. Im assuming he is only measuring to the part of the ace adapter that protrudes rearward when folded, which looks to be at around .75". So in essence, the bonesteel stocks stick out .75" further. But the tradeoff is not as solid of a lockup and no option to return to a fixed stock without gunsmithing/welding tools and abilities. 3/4" isnt worth cutting the tang IMO. But the OP already took the plunge and use parts he already had, so its all a wash arguing which way is better since he already made his decision.
  6. I say keep it and go with one of the Bonesteel Arms stocks. Much superior when compared to either ACE or Stormwerkz.
  7. 4 ports at .078 That is the standard. If you cant fit a 4th port, just drill out the three you currently have to .093" Either will give you a fully functioning S12 that will cycle Win Universal.
  8. Probably moddeled after the original, but that gun has the PGOSS system on in. Has been talked about before. Use to have a video of the owner/designer shooting it. Looked ridiculous and very impractical to say the least. http://cracombat.com/PGOSS.html
  9. Just checked. Thats it. No problem.
  10. Im pretty sure its 12x1.25MM RH
  11. Pressing it back in should be Just as easy. Support the front trunion with some square stock inserted through the receiver and out the magazine well. Install using a press with the muzzle protected. Or you could use the all-thread rod method. Be sure to use anti seize.
  12. Ok. Thats good to know.
  13. Goose, didnt you have to chase the threads of the adapter? And what about the lower protrusion? Did you end up grinding that off? Once the bugs are worked out, it could be a nice addition, keeps the stock in nice and tight. Did you rivet or use screws?
  14. Ok. The link RR links just above this post is the best option if you know you will never run anything other than an AR buffer tube. Simplifies things by removing the pignose adapter from the equasion. The one I listed, although the pignose isnt integrated in with the adapter, it does allow you to remove the pignose and swap to an ace stock, tromix stock, DPH stock, or any other stocks that use the same bolt pattern.
  15. Check out the links again. Yes you can install a collapsible stock on that folding adapter. It is modular. It accepts the "Ace" style thread patterns so any stock or pignose stock adapter will bolt up to it. So in this order, bonesteel arms modular hinge, pignose adapter along with castle nut, enidine buffer tube, and finally stock. So yes you, by following the above links, you will have a collapsible stock AND a folding stock. Why settle for one when you can have both. You wont regret going with a sidefolder and the bonesteel hinge is the best out there.
  16. Can you take a picture of what you had to dremel and the mag now?
  17. Well, I missed where you said you want to use an Enidine tube. Check out Bonesteel Arms. They have a folding stock adapter that doesnt require cutting the tang and allows you to screw any buffer tube into it. Here is the modular stock adapter: http://www.bonesteelarms.com/AK-Saiga-folding-stock-hinge-for-modular-stocks-akfsace.htm You will also need this for the buffer tube: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-170/ACE-CAR15-SAIGA-AK47/Detail And dont forget a castle nut.
  18. Most mags for the S12 require fitting due to the different tolerences of each gun as they come from Russia.
  19. Mike, thanks for clearing that up. That definition needs to be a sticky somewhere so that all the new guys contemplating this mod can re-evaluate.
  20. Or you could add a 4th port at .078" if you have the room. Just chase the other 3 that you have with the 5/64th bit as well. That would probably be the best option. But 3 at .093" will work just fine.
  21. That one that MisterT listed is hideous, IMO. But do what you want. The link responsiveresolve listed, gets an AR stock as close to the rear of the receiver as possible without cutting the tang. If you cut the tang, you can use anyone of the stock adapters and bolt a pignose to it. There are also the buffer tubes made by Vltor, CAA, CSS that bolt to the rear of the receiver. I like the Vltor AR/AK stock adaptor. It gives you QD swivel points near the back of the receiver. And dont forget the Bonesteel Arms Folding/AR stock adaptor. Probably the best option if you want a folding stock adapt
  22. Listen to Cbass. He has given you the correct advice.
  23. Here is a link to there homepage showing the system and the different optic platforms to fit. It does require the removal of all barrel components in order to press the KOP rear sight block into place. It is not a permanent modification as the KOP system installs using the original pin location, and can easily be reversed to the original if desired. http://sabrewerks.com/system.htm
  24. Guys, could somebody do me a favor and accurately measure the barrel journal where the rear sight block is. Im trying to get measurements to Fred at Sabrewerks 13 to see if theyre K.O.P. system will work on the Saiga and if not, if he could make one to fit. I dont an S308 yet, as the prices are still too prohibitive right now due to this friggin ban panic and people asking $1000 plus for a gun that is worth around $650 in its standard configuration. Dang, should have kept the two I had previously, some few years back, a 21.8" and a 16".
  25. Why? Because we are Americans and we have the freedom to make our own choices. If you enjoy shooting S**T rounds through your pump, by all means. Go for it. I, along with multiple others will run our S12s with Winchester Universal functions because its cheap and we choose to. It doesnt take much to be able to cycle the bulk birdshot 100% reliably if you do a little work here and there on your saiga. I'd rather save my buck and slugs for when it counts. I enjoy blasting through an MD20, but only when it costs me $0.22 a round.
