  1. ...already been posted on the site, but I'm always looking for an excuse to flash my wood:
  2. Carefull with that. A local smith turned the gun on the bottom into a paper wieght. ...it woudn't cycle shit. I wound up sending it to red stick to have it turned into a krink. I love the gun now, but it was a huge waste of time and money. It currently has a tromix galil style stock on it. I'll be putting pics up once I get the factory stock modified to fit the new config.
  3. Out of curiosity, were you forced to locate the set screw on the front? In it's pictured location, that is the part that will be in dead contact with your hand. It seems like locating it on the bottom would benefit asthetics and feel, or at least locating it in the rear would keep your hand on the knurling when charging. ...I was gonna PM the question, but PM is disabled.
  4. IMHO, send it to someone who specializes in this kind of thing. I had my 12c SBS'd by a "well known" local smith, and ended up with a $2500 paperweight. It's now at Red Jacket getting re-done. While it SUCKS to be out the bucks from having it done twice, I'm particularly pissed about be forced to move my gas block back (wanted factory furniture) in order to salvage the barrel. I hate shipping guns, and thought I'd be safe with this guy from his local reputation, but I learned my lesson. From now on, my HKs to to HK smiths, my Saigas go to Saiga smiths, and the "I can do everything outf
  5. The can works well, particulary at the shooter's ear (I don't need hearing protection with it), and for purposes of eliminating visible signature (dust, flash, etc). Bystanders have told me that hearing protection would be good. Recoil reduction is not good as I hoped; better than many breaks, but not as good as a high end brake. It's an AWC Turbodyne.
  6. "canta" is the russian spelling of saiga. Canta is pronounced "si' ga" in russian.
  7. Some of these have been eerily familiar, but here are a few more: 1. The FFL who does your transfers is on speed dial. 2. You buy cases of ammo in calibers you have no gun for. 3. Your license plate reads SHOOTST 4. $15k is more than you'll pay for your daily ride, but it sounds like a hard to pass on deal for an MP5K sear gun. 5. .308 at $.40 a round is a "must buy" to keep your MGs fed. 6. Most of your range time is spent "testing" guns. 7. Doesn't matter how tight things are, you can always scrape up a couple grand for that rare deal. 8. At gunshows, your looking for or sell
  8. Nice work. I'm impressed.
  9. I just saw this posted on hkpro, and thought I'd post it for inspiration.
  10. Sure you can. You just have to be willing to pay the price and jump on it when it comes along. I've seen a couple for sale, but few and far in between.
  11. It always looked like plastic to me. I'm actually suprised that anyone would think it's metal. I don't know how the quality stacks up, but my BT MP5 stock was $245 (and it has a molding seem as well), and those dorky Choate stocks are going to $150 (also with the seem), so $85 seems like a deal in comparison.
