  1. I was thinking that more powerful loads on setting #1 was the right way to break her in. I have another SG that is pending my Form 4 ATF transfer and the maufacturer told me to only use 1 1/8 oz, 3 dram or higher for the first 100 - 150 then switch to the "reduced recoil" loads. I bought a case of Winchester 00 9 pellet Military Grade - green hull / high brass is black anodized for the SBS but I think I'll run some of these thru the S12. I'll report back on the results.
  2. I forgot to ask since I'll only be needing the FCG kit would Red Locktite be better? Thanks for the generous offer to help had we been in close proximity...appreciate that!
  3. I shouldn't need the parts that yuou mentioned as I purchased the Tromix DIY G2 trigger kit & Tromix FCG package. Greg at Carolina confirmed that the FCG has everything I need! He did also explain that the non-push pin stock folding mechanism for the Tromix LS stock locks up tighter. Do any of you guys have either to comment? Good news: my neighbor is going to help me with the conversion next week; a sigh of relief! I gotta get the S12 out this weekend and test fire her to confirm I don't have a Vodka Special. I'm gonna research this tonight but should the initial break in b
  4. Thanks! I had not come across any mention of needing to purchase a "retainer plate and sheperds croke for the fcg pins". I'll remember the locktite - blue? I'm in the gunshine state of FL.
  5. Thks for the paint tips and clearing up the fixed stock options if tang is removed!
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions! Yes I have and will continue to pour thru the threads. I spent hours doing so prior to my first post but even still have confusion on certain topics. Does removing the tang prevent one from swithching back to a solid stock or would that attach to the Ace internal block as well? I'm going to use the Tromix DIY trigger guard for sure. I watched the Video and reviewed the Guide under the Conversions. Am I correct in assuming that converting my S12 by adding the DIY & FCG + pistol grip is performed identical to the "Saiga 7.62x39 Conversion" video?. Eve
  7. Not really. What you can do, is get the ACE folding mechanism and the ACE external receiver block. It allows you to attach a stock without cutting the rear trunion. It comes with a pistol grip to make for a fail-tastic "conversion" but it's EASILY removed. A lot of people here won't suggest this set up because they think it looks like shit and that your a pussy for not taking a hacksaw to the stock tang. I have the external block and ACE folding stock on mine. I still have no solid vision of what I want my Saiga to look like, so I didn't want to limit myself should I choose to
  8. The tromix stock mounts to an Ace folder. The Ace folders requires cutting of the rear trunion. If you look at the top of your stock you will see a screw. That whole part of the trunion has to be cut off to give clearance for the folder mech. You also need to either have a plate welded onto the back of the receiver, or you have to use an adapter. I prefer the internal adapter (as do most on this board). The external ACE adapter block retains the factory trigger group location, but puts the grip back in a half-ass position. Converted correctly improves the trigger greatly. Wow
  9. Thanks for the suggestion and yes I had already read up on the Vodka Specials but I hadn't considered shooting it before any mods.
  10. First I want to thank all you that have stickied and posted so much wonderful information! I am a total newbie to shotguns in general but not to other weapon platforms: HK's, Glocks, etc. I want to add a pistol grip and probably change the stock, most likely a folder. After searching the threads I'm leaning to the Tromix but not sure if I should get the Limbsaver. I'm more concerned with my shoulder than being a pansy ;-). Since I just got the Saiga and have not fired it yet I would love to hear your thoughts on how much more reduced recoil will be gained with the Limbsaver. I purch
