  1. where are yall finding the reduced springs? My gun cycles pretty well, but 1/10-15 will FTE.. Had thought about tryng a new spring
  2. wonder what this means for US ak companies like lancaster.. hopefully nothing
  3. meh.. If theres one thing I've learned, just because the army of whatever country doesn't use a gun, that doesn't make it obsolete or a piece of history, it may still be better then what is currently used.. Ak-47s will still be deadly for their accuracy (read on) and efficiency and still a weapon that is far from obsolete until the day ammo as we know it is replaced.... Yes, when your gun shoots lasers you may have me at a disadvantage, till then.. whatever as far as inovation goes.. the only real improvments we manage to make are guns with less recoil, faster feeding, more reliable and mo
  4. 1. Yup 2. Nope 3. Yup 4. Yup 5. nope I've got to be honest.. you'd think it was hard, but it was ridiculously easy.. Just make sure you have strong drill bits, I couldn't get any at wally world and that was the biggest mistake. So easy though, you drill a couple of holes, take the old crap out, new crap in.. (really easy, though I didn't bother with BHO).. and your done! I really thought it would be more complicated.. and looking at the FCG scared me a bit, but it all went in really easily
  5. lancaster I bought has dropped 200$ as well . Oh well, I've had 200 dollars worth of fun with it easily (Better have, I've spent several times that on ammo since I got it)
  6. not gonna repost my rant because frankly, it was really long.. but I'll try to sum up (easier to do sober) since at least bigsal read it so I figured I'd throw it out there so you know where I'm coming from.. I was in a crap situation in the middle of nowhere my dog, got pulled, lied to, had the cop threaten to pull his gun on me instead of his radar detector when I asked to see it, and then got lectured for 15 minutes about how I was a criminal with no rights. Also claimed that he clocked me going 17 over (unlikely, heavy traffic, but they pulled us all) and said that I must have mashed the b

    Optics??

can't bring myself to put optics on a shotty... Just seems kind of wimpy.. Shotguns are about badass hail of lead going downrange without much concern for accuracy.. Optics are for precise fire.. Combine the two and your just regulating how much inaccurate lead is going down range by sitting and tryng to aim it instead of blasting away. It seems about as neccesary as putting an advanced guiding system on a 10 megaton bomb to make sure it hits a car.. for slugs it's a different deal, but I don't use my shotty with slugs enough, I use it mostly for clays. (a quick release side mount with an
  8. good post.. and plus 1 on the vid, it may come in handy some day, I especially found part II interesting. Edit: got drunk and posted a huge rant of a shitty situation I was in.. but honestly it was too long and not worth anyones time, so it's gone now
  9. same story here.. exactly.. badly rusted spring shattered after a couple of uses into about 8 pieces.. replaced it with a surefire spring.. won't buy AGP again. (spring was less than a month old straight out of the plastic it came in)
  10. that's a hell of a project.. good luck.. and the fact that its from a warthog just adds to the awesomeness
  11. those are all fantastic (although I'm not familiar with that mossy, looks very nice, but I prefer semi auto) I chose the spetsnaz since brand new, nice gun, threaded muzzle.. I shied away from the 12c simply because you didn't have a price on it which makes it hard to compare.. Both would be considered awesome here as they are impossible to get ahold of.. not sure how the UK works but the waiting list makes me think it's not much better. Great opportunity to get a really nice gun
  12. 9/10.. I got the "most guns are long guns" wrong.. Feel dumb about it looking back on it.
  13. I like it! also you'd be suprised how many guns are actually built on the AK- I know some people hate wikipedia, but I think it has a list somewhere from the obvious ones like the galil up to some that you wouldn't of figured (if not it has a pretty good list of "assault" rifles and it seems half of them are AK based). Guess in it's long career it's been copied a good amount of times. Edit: did some searching, one of these will run you between 1500-2000.. I know it's advanced and all but I don't like spending that much on a gun when I get can get 2-3 nice saigas, the ergonomics of the XCR
  14. I got the 22 inch, really enjoying it.. Wish I had a private range I could go to up here, sounds like you have a nice setup, I have a simular deal down near charleston but up here I'm restricted the the public range.. It's not too bad I guess but the rules can be a bit annoying, the three second rules and the limits on what kind of targets and stuff, although the shotgun part is a lot more relaxed..
  15. yeah, the WASR is still an ak.. it still shoots bullets pretty reliably... but you get what you pay for. They arn't as accurate or as reliable, but they do their job..
  16. if you want to know.. go to any gun show.. most of the AKs there will be WASR's.. You'll find the majority of them to be pretty shoddy.. But the funny thing is at the last gunshow I went to the nice condition WASRs were around the same price as the other ones.. Found it interesting..
  17. yeah, very helpfull.. my gun cycles much better now
  18. A lot of people cut slits in the safety so it can hold the bolt open
  19. I think it's a combination of the age as bounce said and the fact that I havn't shot very many with full stocks as banshee said.. Sounded like ass but was extremely smooth so I guess it's working.. just really aged..
  20. think the one by the dove range is the one I think of as the liberty range.. the one close to the airfield right? being from Mt. Pleasant I don't know anyone with a private range so it's my only choice, even if I hate that 3 second rule! And yup, at Clemson.. Hoping to hit the range both tomorrow (maybe) and friday, new gun to try out thanks to CaptLouie (.308 saiga).. plus I gotta burn off some steam tomorrow if I get the time, three exams thursday and I prefer to shoot before I study, puts me in a better state of mind. I'm out there most fridays really, normally blasting clays with my sa
  21. wow, hadnt seen that thread.. good one Harv
  22. depends on what your intent is.. for clays I've been more then happy with the iron sites.. but then again for clays I dont really line it up on the sites so much... If you want long(ish) range slug shooting thats gonna be a different story.. shotguns are kinda versatile
  23. just something to consider that I thought about with my choice... Yeah, the saiga 12 is the best if someone breaks into your home in a SHTF situation.. But realistically (haha, laughed a bit at myself for saying realistically) in a SHTF situation you need to be able to fight off people who will either fill your house with bullets rather than confront you in close quarters, or burn it, don't count on them getting in close... plus you gotta leave sometime to get food, and if some unfriendlies are hanging out with the average bolt action hunting rifle a saiga 12 is going to fall short.. literally
