  1. nah, its just that its a "tactical" shotgun so the smaller barrels are more popular, although in reality a longer barrel is probably better for shooting clays. As far as german import markings... dunno, I guess maybe it went to germany before coming here? the only problem that comes up sometimes is with under gassed guns and there are people here who can fix that on warranty for you more than likely.. If you want more help posting the gunbroker link would probably help so we can get a look at it! Enjoy and congrats
  2. theres definately some benefits to have two guns that use the same ammo.. and they are pretty different platforms.. I'd probably go for it.
  3. me and my friends where Wild Bill (me), Stae (best friend, Magic Slippaz or Slipz, and Shmildo. Mine was the least creative and was just because I tend to be a bit wild (duh).. Stae evolved from williebeamen to beamen to steamen to staemen to stae over an 8 year period in middle and high school.. Magic Slippaz was a joke basketball nickname that stuck.. and Shmildo was an asshole. Also had an unused nickname "the dutchess" for being british.. I obviously didn't like that one and it never really stuck, partly because I'd get violent. My name was permenately changed from William to Bill
  4. I shot napoleon in the face on our 46 inch TV.. was sitting watching some old movie with my new airsoft in my lap and I guess I just touched the trigger a tad bit too hard.. Screens still cracked, lucky it was airsoft.
  5. I guess I've just never fired on with a good recoil buffer.. really took me by suprise. Compared it to a bushmaster and it an entirely different story. Well thanks, I'd figured it would be something simple that I just hadn't come across (havn't fired that many ARs really, I like to stick to my ak)
  6. I'm sure this is going to be one of the dumber questions asked, but I'll ask anyway.. Fired a few ar-15s (mainly bushmasters).. but I went to a private range and my friends dad had an old "pre-ban" colt ar-15 (.223, guess thats a given). It wasn't the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but I guess looks can be decieving. I took it and pulled the trigger and all I hear was a wierd spring clanging noise (I guess with my head resting on the stock it was all I could hear with my earplugs in).. I assumed it was some sort of jam (the gun looked worthy of jamming and hadn't been cleaned in years), b
  7. wow I can't believe I didn't see this thread sooner.. definately one of my favorites.. I love when jerryrigging something works.. And that diagram is absolutely amazing.
  8. yeah stamped.. thats what meant by unmilled.. sorry I've knocked down a 12 pack at this point
  9. I might be wrong... But I'm pretty sure they can share stocks, as long as they are both unmilled
  10. kinda off topic but Jake.. I couldn't help but notice pickens county.. you use the liberty gun range at all on fridays? If you seen a guy with a tacticooled ak-47 on the range that'd probably be me. Saw a guy with a saiga .223 once out there.. custom paint job, laser, flashlight, red dot, tripod.. was that you? can't say I remember the guy so much as the gun so I can't remember too well
  11. my firebird was made in canada... but I do like supporting american company ingenuity.. (Toyotas' not bad, but those over americanized "oh gravy!" truck guys will tell you it "aint no picnic either" comericials piss me off in a big way.. but then that obnoxious northern OK? guy for ford is just as annoying, outa make that crap regional, all ford is doing with those comercials is pissing off a lot of southeners round here with.)
  12. it's been said more or less.. But I just want to stress that a conversion itself is nothing more then moving the trigger to it's intended position. The customizations you will see on this forum are NOT part of the conversion, although you will likely need to do some customization after the conversion to stay 922 compliant (need a certain amount of american parts), though this can be by replacing interior workings or exterior parts with identical USA made parts.. edit: an american made folding stock would also count as a compliance part and that plus the fire control group (FGC) necesar
  13. my 12 has JB weld dryng in 2 of the holes, used tape to cover the outside of the hole, then put some JB weld on the inside, tape outa hold it smooth and in place, I'll let you know how it comes out...
  14. haha, badass stickers.. who'd of thought your truck would be an answer to a forum question
  15. Basically tryng to make my saiga more like an AK since I figure tacti-cooling out my skeet shootig shotgun is a waste, so I'm going to go classic look.. I've emailed a few of the customs people and had no luck, or responses, so if you wanna sell me something gimme a PM.
  16. a while back my friends and I recently picked up three 91/30s from classic arms- two hex (mine was a tula, actually ordered it for my dad for his birthday (and a few days on the range before I surrenderred it) and he was very pleased with it) and one non-hex.. All of them had pristine bores.. wood work was a bit shoddy in some places (and part of the tula bolt was from Ishmaz wereas the non tula hex's bolt/mechanism was entirely Tula, only the numbers on the non hex matched) , but the damn things were under 100 bucks and 80 years old.. Again, the bores look to be perfect (which is all I cared
  17. all my grandad got from the japs was a bunch of torture (kept him alive since he was a doc though).. and some pictures from a hidden camera.. but those are not fun to look at.. caused some hell for warcrime japs tho postwar... I'd hang on to those guns if I were you, was a crappy experience for all, but we need to remember it and honor what they did.
  18. only put slugs through mine once at a friends 50 yard range vs a fridge.. it didn't stop for the fridge... at all.. put some huge fricken holes through it.. can't speak for grouping because I honestly was just screwing around for kicks and didn't measure or anything, but they went where I aimed them pretty reliably, can't give you MOA's or anything, but after unloading a clip of 10 as fast as I could, there were 10 closely grouped/overlapping massive holes in one side and out the other.. Was a bit suprised because I was more messing around for recoil and noise with my friends then concentratin
  19. not sure, but I really like the idea you came up with.. got any pics?
  20. I wouldn't be too afraid of either the .223 or the x39 for a concern about variety- it's a different gun regardless than either an SKS or an AR. Also, I personally don't feel that the 5.45 is different enough from the .223 to consider the margin of variety worth the trouble over the ammo stocking frustrations of having two very simular and completly incompatible guns (someone can correct me if I'm wrong, I havn't fired the saiga in .223, only ar-15s). As far as weight they are all going to be pretty simular since they are all based on the same design.. I havn't pulled out the scales to weigh t

this catches my eye everytime I come to the page.. I love that finish
  22. there are people here with far more experience than me, so I'd value their opinions higher.. But from my own experience... 12 gauge all the way!!! Yeah ok, that wasn't a choice.. Personally I like the 7.62 the most. .308 is sweet but the ammo costs are kinda crappy. And I don't really like much thats smaller then a 7.62.. But that's personal preference.. .223 can be easier to manage and all.. I just don't like the round much.. little too light for my tastes, but the army would disagree and they know more then me (seems no military really thinks that a 7.62 is superior to a 5.45 or .223 no
  23. Haha chevymann, yeah they all use vises on my range too and it's 100 yards.. and your right Indy, that hadn't occurred to me, I guess I prefer them giving me funny looks to flipping out and shooting at me.. I'll have to borrow my buddies ar-15 some day and see if I get the same reaction from them.
  24. POS is a bit stong an extremely affordable semi automatic long range rifle IMO.. It's a good gun
  25. good deal! local stores for me never have saigas
