Yeah, hoping to do it fairly soon before it gets too hot out here (don't shoot as well when the gun is soaked in sweat). I'm planning on using the same scope for both rifles just to take the iron sight factor out of it to test the guns specifically.. I'm sure the AR will win accuracy, but I really don't think it will be significant enough to justify 300$ vs 950$. Btw, anyone know a good place to get the typical military style handguards (durable is preferable to cheap). I don't like the magpul one the rifle came with.

Tried a habanero once.. Was pretty bad- additionally later when I sat at the desk resting my head on one hand that entire side of my face swelled up. Don't think I'll be tryng ghost peppers.

Was in the same boat (first AR, wanted to build one).. Went with a spikes, spent a couple hundred less than you- seems to do everything an AR should. Was going to build myself but a local gunstore had a good deal with spike and I got it at a nice price. Not a fan of spiders though, my one complaint. I like it much better then my friends bushmaster and about the same as another friends 1970s colt (havn't shot a modern one). I bought it the same week as my WASR-3 and they both hit the range at the same time.. The AR performed well, but I did have a FTF on the first round that was a BITCH

If your looking to match your s-12, go for it, it will probably be as accurate as any AR in it's price range and more reliable/simple. You already have a few AR's it seems, why not throw some ultra rugged variety in there?

yeah.. I'm still not sure what's blemished one mine. I messed it up pretty good installing it with a dremel (was more willing to dremel bits of the adapter than the wasr, did both but I think the adapter suffered to compensate for the BG) and it works fantastically. It didn't like surplus steel mags so I ground off what would be more or less unnoticable to the naked eye on the catch block and it now grabs em perfectly.

My guns are ALL traditional- but I've seen some beautiful camoed guns I love.. Problem is I'm a bit OCD- I want all my guns to match as much as possible, and if I'm going to own an AK I want at least one traditional, so by rule, they all are. But damn I've seen some nice paintjobs.
