  3. It can be done with some additional modification. Here's an AK SBR I did with an Ultimak on the top: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/93061-first-ak-sbr/
  4. Yeah, that TWS is on the short list to add on
  5. I'm a fan of AK's, and I love the look of magpul gear on them. Here is my latest build, my first AK SBR Here are the build details -Romanian DRACO pistol (registered as an SBR) -Ultimak top rail shortened for the Draco -magpul 870 hand guard, channeled for the barrel, side relief cuts for the ultimak, aluminum rear tang insert (standard bar stock that fits the dimensions of the hand guard slot) -CSS AR style handguard bracket (doubles as a recoil lug) -magpul AK grip -ACE AR style folder -rear trunion machined and tapped to accommodate folding mechanism -Magpul CTR stock
  6. I use Mobil 28 aircraft grease. It's what Geissle uses on their triggers. Awesome stuff This is where i apply lube. I also add grease to the rails and the front trunion where the bolt lug engages.
  7. Very nice! I like it. I sent a picture of the one i have on my S12 to magpul with a "hint, hint, nudge, nudge" Maybe they'll eventually follow suit. I also had a magpul MOE grip plastic welded to an ACE grip adapter that I sent them a picture of. I don't think they made the AK MOE grip because of me, but it's nice to know we're on the same thinking plane....
  8. I have 3 brand new Saiga 12 10rnd mags. Two surefires (still in wrapper), and one promag $35 ea shipped for SGM's $30 for Promag $80shipped for all 3
  9. Thanks guys. I've outgrown the mall ninja and 48" of quad rail real estate phase.....
  10. It's been many years of playing around with different components to finally get my AK the way I like it. Now that it's duracoated, it is complete. enjoy, More Pics and Build Details
  11. Very easy. There are two set screws right behind the front sight post that lock it into place. The cross bolts on the Krebs are what turned me off of them as well. Works fine but isn't aesthetically pleasing. The dinzag is about as close as you can get to a factory like look.
  12. I haven't had any issues with it. What kind of problems do people experience?
  13. I'm lucky enough to have grown up on a 12acre farm with a 100yrd range, so I have that at my disposal. Besides that it's hard to find a place to go around here for free that you don't have to drive an hour to get to.
  14. I had this issue with an S12 I worked on a while ago. It would pop out after 1-3 rnds from a fully loaded drum. It was a RAM Ambi Mag release. This was surprising since I've installed many Ambi Mag releases and fit many drums. The main moving target I've seen when it comes to Saigas is the rifle themselves, tons of variability. Ultimately the mag catch wasn't engaging the drum enough due to the magwell being slightly longer than normal. The fix, remove a bit of material from the back of the mag catch to allow it to travel farther forward, problem solved.
  15. Not being able to leave well enough alone, I've added some pics with the latest iteration of my S12 More Pics and Build Info
  16. You also might have increased the problem by adding the brake. It's really a mute issue though, as the others said, get rid of the spring and puck, put the stock ones back in, pull off your gas block and open the ports.
  17. I have two perfect condition (looks to be unfired) Black Surefire 10rnd mags that I would like to trade for two 10rnd AGP mags. Color is not important, just want to standardize on the make.
