  1. I have the ultra light on my 7.62x39. I cut probably close to 3 inches off of it. I had it mounted with the folder but took it off, I didnt really see the purpose of it rather then being cool. The folder did not work when i had the UTG quick disconnect scope mount on, so i had to set it up to fold to the other side. i could still fire the gun with it folded that way with maybe 1/2 inch of clearance between the stock and bolt handle. P.S. I also didnt use the foam cover, just wrapped it in paracord and its worked great.
  2. You are trying to slide the mount on from the back to the front right? You make it sound as if you are just trying to put it on from the side. Also, I belive the tension screw is opposite of the normal. It's not righty tighty lefty lossy, its the other way around. Hope this helps.
  3. Is that wolf ammo that centerfire has for $209?
  4. I think i used a 8-32 button head that was 1 1/2 inch long. I had to cut it shorter with a wire stripper/bolt cutting tool. Then i just put a lock washer on the bottom, held on to the nut with a pair of needle nose pliers and tightend the bolt. I'd take pictures but my guns all taped off waiting to get painted.
  5. You could just skip the tapping part, drill the hole a little bigger, and then just bolt it in there. if you take your handguard off, you will be able to get underneath it to put the nut in there. Thats what i did after i broke a few taps.... . You could also put loctite or jb weld on it if you wanted to.
  6. I had kinda the same issue. I just ended up drilling the hole larger, and just bolted the bullet guide on. A few hundred rounds later and it is still running like a champ.
  7. Thanks padron, i cant wait for the review.
  8. I guess my main question is, what was the going rate for a saiga before the election. All this talk of cheap guns makes me want to kick myself for not picking up this hobby earlier.
  9. I'm new to the whole AK thing. I just finished up converting my first 7.62x39 and am very pleased with the results. I purchased the sporter rifle in October 2009 for $390 out the door. I'm looking into a S12, but I'm just wondering what the price was on the rifles and shotguns before the election, and if people think they will go back to those prices. So, what did everyone pay for their rifles and/or shotgun, and when did you purchase it. Thanks. Add: This board rocks! The info on these boards was very helpful in helping me finish my rifle.
  10. Anyone have Pics of the Saiga specific one mounted yet?
  11. I got it because I read the descreption and it sounded like something I'd like to use. Who wouldn't want all this. I like the stock with the folder, has a little bit of wiggle in it when it is folded but locks up tight when extended out.
  12. Hi everyone, I just finished up my conversion today and i had a question. I installed the JTE reduced power mainspring from CSS, and I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with lite primer strikes. I ask because i had 2 out of 40 shots were the primer was struck and indented but didnt fire. I was using some russian white box ammo that i picked up at cabelas a few weeks back, it was the first time ive tried this ammo. Any idea's? P.S. Heres some pics of my conversion, it still needs to be refinished.
  13. I just went to Ace and picked up a 6-32 size bolt, you could go bigger if you wanted to. i just used a wire stripper multi tool thing to cut the bolt. not sure what its called but it has little holes to put the bolt in and then it cuts it.
