  1. Father has a .308, with the huge side mount rail for a scope. After seeing several scout style AK mounts like the ultimak, I was wondering if they were usable on the .308 version. He will be using it for deer and hogs in Central texas, where 100 yards is far, and I don't think a 6-24 scope is the best for the situation.
  2. Good read on the akforum, but seems most of the pics are not there anymore. Been looking at the Saiga/Ak and an AR platform.
  3. Ok, I'll post a reply in an hour or 10.
  4. Gonna be on mostly non-game animals, which in Texas have no limits, or if I use it on game animals, I think any powder burner is allowed. JIm, can't access the Akforum without membership
  5. Been looking for a carbine, and the 5.45 as always been interesting to me. Does anyone use their 5.45 for hunting. IF so, what ammo, and how does it work for you?
  6. Sharp shooter supply are the people you need to talk to, but they only have a 9 round for 308 based rounds. there are seveal pistol gripped stocks for Savages, but I don't think any of them will do magazines.
  7. Azrial, that is where I am. Reliability goes to the SKS or the AK, and performance to the AR. I have an SKS, but don't like the lack of scopin options for it, and it's a little big.
  8. Shandianos, I gave up on that dream a LONG time ago. Only thing I might even consider is an airgun, and that would only be if we decide to stay here.
  9. My name is Jason, and I am currently living in Japan. Not in the military, but just as an English Teacher. Looking for a 7.62x39 for pig duty, and I am battling between a Saiga and an AR. I like the faster twist of the Saiga barrel, because it lends itself more to reloading for subsonics, but the accuracy of the AK platform has never been one of it's strongpoints, so I am kinda torn. Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and hope to learn a bit here.
