  1. POSP 6x24 with 400M rangefinder. Mounts with the traditional side mounted optic. Got a PK01-V red dot on the way.
  2. I'm glad you and your family are out of harms way and that nobody was hurt. It sucks they got some of your stuff, but good that the most cherished things (people) in the home were not touched. I gotta say though, I love stories like this. Everyone wants protection after the event already happens, after they've left the doors/windows etc. unlocked. I had the same story with my parents several years ago after I moved away to go to school. Mom had this habit of leaving the kitchen window unlocked above the sink. The doors were always locked, so nobody ever worried - until she came home at
  3. I'm wondering if it would've been as big a deal if you hadn't gotten online and read every negative thing anyone ever wrote about Kalinka after placing your order, and your PK-A showed up in 5 days. Yes, 5 days, because the 13th and 14th (sat. and sun.) don't count. You ordered, and then researched. Then panties got bunched because you got worried you were getting screwed. Then, 4 days after your order went in, you called to dispute the charges because you hadn't gotten a confirmation - even though you saw your card was charged. Two days after you tried to dispute your charges, your PK
  4. HA! Quote of the year! Congratulations on nearly killing a thug-nificent, drug-using, gang-banging piece of shit. These kinds "people" are a disease that needs to be eradicated. They prey on the weak, elderly, and have no pride or shame due to the "gangsta" mentality which they think entitles them to take whatever they want. All I can say to that is: "If I had a son, he would look like (insert gangbangers name here)"
  5. Fleet Farm unfortunately is (I believe) only located in 4 states. Right? I wish it were that easy where I am. There are only a few real gun stores here, and none of them carry any 5.45x39, except the occasional box of Wolf 60gr that "somehow got in there" when the order was placed. I looked at Fleet Farm's website as well, and unfortunately the only "ammo" you can order are BB's.
  6. I bought my last tin of 5.45 yesterday at $155 from Dan'sAmmo found on gun-deals. (they're out of stock now) They're about 2 hours away from me, and from what I can gather, not one of the "Big" retailers that are selling this ammo. With shipping it came out to less than $175. I called first before I ordered to make sure it was in stock and the very nice young lady took the time to go and see if they had a tin to send my way. It was shipped, and within 24 hours, at my door. I don't know how much better of a deal you could find. +1 for Dan's. Side note: These other vendors (not Da
  7. I recently helped put 200 rounds through an MK9 this past weekend, I also broke down the pistol and had a chance to do a thorough cleaning (removed striker, extractor, etc.). I found it to be a very quality pistol, and found the mechanics of the pistol neat, but during the break-in there were several light strikes, and one FTE. The striker channel was filthy though, and I believe this contributed to the light strikes - which all fired fine through my P99. Of course, more testing is in order. Perhaps 100 rounds next time. The trigger pull is smooth and weight is exceptional, but travel i
  8. For those with side-mounting POSP optics, I've gathered that the majority have had little to no issue removing their POSP and having it hold zero after it was reinstalled, but have any of you *had* a POSP that wouldn't return to zero after reinstallation? Many thanks, MGIB
  9. I'm sorry to say I had a different experience a few weeks ago with Kalinka: They responded to every (5-6) online-inquiry that I sent them through their site, relatively quickly (within 24 hours). I ordered the 6x24 POSP with the 400m Rangefinder. It's a sweet optic, with nice glass, and the illumination is nice. I hope you ordered batteries though. I was under the impression that they came with batteries - wrong.
  10. Another +1 for chromed. Of course, I'm shooting surplus 5.45...
  11. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct1076.aspx Second rifle down. I'm not an AR expert, so I can't comment regarding the 5.56 being designed around a 20" barrel, but I do know that the 5.45 was designed around the 16" barrel, with a completely different twist rate - 1/8". I would assume (remember what happens when we assume) that a 20" barrel on a 5.45x39 will give you marginal improvement in accuracy, but I have seen an 8.5" Krink barrel do surprisingly well (Minute of Man) at distance in excess of 200yds with surplus ammunition... I ordered the IZ340 from Atlantic se
  12. So you stated you were shipping a rifle? Did you go in with it already boxed up, or was it shipped in a rifle case? The smith sent me a copy of his FFL, so I'm not particularly concerned. I'm slightly confused (and partially curious), as to what might happen if you don't declare it a firearm, and it is later inspected - by some means - and found to be an article that is, in FedEx's policy, one that is supposed to be declared. However I see that UPS only requires it be declared if shipping a handgun. So I'm thinking UPS, 2-day service, machine parts..Sound good?
  13. I'm needing to send one of my AK's to a reputable gunsmith. How should I proceed? I've been advised by at least one party that I should state the contents are "machine parts" to avoid any issue. Is this advisable? And who do I go with? UPS, FedEx? Many thanks, MGIB
