  1. Stop paying taxes. You will eventually anyway when you run out of "money" to pay with. Why pay taxes when they can just print all the money they want to anyway? They had the Fed give TRILLIONS to the banks, the insurances companies, even GM, but did you or I get any help whatsoever besides more strife and higher gas prices? Nope... Oh wait I forgot, you could get $100 for junking your old car. Yay! All hail Obama!
  2. She is crazy, allot of people are (especially women like Jen from AKfiles.com), but McCarthy was born with a special kind of insanity and it's easily diagnosed as leftist "liberalism." She has authored allot of anti-gun legislation but it never gets serious consideration and after making an ass of herself on TV, really nobody takes her seriously except the people that vote for her (or count the votes for her, I should say). It doesn't matter anyway, if they want gun control they will get it regardless of her or us. What is more alarming is that the new "super Congress" is essentially
  3. If you live in IL join the ISRA, they actually care. This suit needs more media coverage too.
  4. VERY cool. I want to preorder a few of these. So how exactly do we pre-order? You have to go through Copes or what?
  5. I found making your own is easy and you save $20. You will do some fine-tuning but if you have the time it's fun and worth it. I usually break taps so next time I'm not even going to try, it's just getting a bolt through the trunion with a locknut under the trunion (in the "void," lol). Anyone else just bolt it and be done?
  6. If it's helps, the main reasons I got 5.45 over .223 was the price, the ammo itself meaning your practice and stockpile will be the same things pretty much, and the fact the round is made for AK74 barrel vs. the NATO limited by barrel length. I also don't like the little rounds that much, 5.45 being an exception (ok, .22lr too!). I got plenty of 7.62x39 for my "reliable avaialability" caliber.
  7. Yep, Hornady V-max. Go to cheaperthandirt dot com and they got it.
  8. For anyone who cares, I finally got around to widening the 74 brake's hole. I used a 3/8 bit and honed it around a little. The 7.62 passes through it just fine, however the brake itself doesn't really seem to improve anything above using a slant brake - lol. But it looks cool anyway and matches my 5.45 so whatever. Anyone thinking about it in the future just don't use a 7/16, maybe go for a 1/2" and be done with it, or just keep the damn slant brake in the first palce...
  9. Hey Milsurps 4 Me, is that the "timberwood" stock sets? I was looking at those (they are very cool) but didn't want to pay that much (lol) so I ended up stripping and re-finishing a Romanian one.
  10. By the time you re-chambered a 5.45 over to .223 you'd might as well have just gone out and paid about the same amount plus your time saved for a new one actually manufactured in .223 from Izhmash. You can do what you want but personally if you are worried about ammo availability then just go out and buy a shit ton of 5.45 rounds. They aren't getting any cheaper and now's the time to buy. I'm getting another crate Sunday (hopefully) and if whatever happens does happen, then I got a bunch of ammo allot of people will pay top-price for if they expect to use their 74's.
  11. Sweet. I got a dealer at my gunshows that gives me 5.45 tins for $120 a piece, I can get a crate for $240. No shipping! Lol. Trying to buy it up from him while I can.
  12. How much was your spot welder? The Harbor Feight by me don't have any.
  13. Don't put all your eggs in one basket either...
  14. I have a 74 brake I want to put on my 7.62, people voiced their concerns about the hole size but a 7.62 will pass through it just fine. What do you think?
  15. Use different ammo too. I had issues with hollowpoints... You can make your own guide, it's just a piece of anything that you can use to ramp a bullet into the chamber. I used a 3/4" steel pipe and hacked it up to fit my trunion perfectly.
  16. Hunting deer? You might want a 7.62x39 then. The 5.45 could take a deer if you can and had to but ethics come to mind. You can shoot coyotes and small stuff, 5.45 even has a V-Max round now, but you're going to have more options with 7.62 bullets than a soviet 5.45 one. Someone should make 5.45 soft points. I like my 5.45 but if I want to shoot deer that really isn't the first caliber that comes to mind. Know what I'm say'n?
  17. Looks nice. I am paranoid about putting the trigger guard nuts on the inside of the receiver though. Lol.
  18. ^ Yea, I used AllumihydeII on my WASR and it cured pretty nice. You're supposed to use a hair dryer or something to cure it in between coats of paint for like 30 sec. I used gloss black because it hardens thicker for some reason than matte and then I waited for it to cure completely and went over it again with a clear matte AlumihydeII and it looks sweet. It's pretty durable but it scrapes off under the slector switch and on the edge of the receiver under the dust cover a bit, oh well. What doesn't? lol.
  19. atakacorp, that's beautiful! I played around with this idea as well, if I would buy a 20" barrel 7.62x39.
  20. Just be resourcefull. Join AKfiles(daht)com and browse through the marketplace thread. There's a ton of builders on there and they sell inexpensive used parts. I got 2 Bulgy brakes for $50 and my threaded FSB for $45 and have sold bunches of miscellaneous parts myself. ] Plumb it up and align it with a string, then use a front sight tool for fine-tuning, if it even needs it.
